In this episode, we have a fun conversation with Peggy McCartha who has spent 30+ years as a professional photographer and headshot specialist. Peggy shares what it takes to have a headshot that gets attention starting with digging deep into your marketing strategy, mindset, goals and how your headshot fits into that strategy.

Highlights From This Episode:

  • What is your brand story and what is that story that you’ve told them consistently all the way through?
  • Why aren’t entrepreneurs using their headshots to get attention just like an actor tells their story to a casting director?
  • Intentionally give people a reason to hang out and find out if you’re the person that they want to give their money to.
  • We want that picture to grab their attention so they look and see what else you have to offer, to really let your personality shine through.
  • For an effective headshot, ensure you make eye contact and look deep into the lens of the camera, right down the barrel of the lens.

More About Peggy McCartha

Peggy McCartha has loved photography her whole life and has been a professional photographer for over 3 decades. Peggy is known as the most industry-savvy headshot photographer in Los Angeles and is the creator of the Headshot Strategist® Program. Her thirty-three-plus years experience as a professional photographer combined with her knowledge of both the industry and the phycology of headshots has allowed her to help hundreds of actors get effective headshots that get them noticed for roles.

Knowing that we live in a media-driven world where our headshots, or profile pictures, are oftentimes our first impression on potential clients and even colleagues. Peggy is now helping businesspeople leverage the same strategies that actors use so they can take control of their first impressions and attract their ideal clients.

Peggy has hosted a weekly podcast/video show called "Headshots by Peggy PRESENTS" for over 5 years. The show is designed to Encourage, Inspire and Educate people in the industry.  She is also the President of On Balance Entertainment LLC, a highly diversified company offering superior services for the entertainment industry.

On a more personal level, she is also a wife, mother, and friend who loves deep friendship connections, game nights with the family, and traveling with her husband Merrick. Peggy also keeps very active with non-profits; she feels deep compassion towards the homeless and stays involved in many outreaches. Another thing that she is very involved in is bringing awareness and education about Lymphedema, a chronic, disfiguring, and painful condition that over 200,000 people in the US suffer from. Last but absolutely not least – she is always ready to have a conversation about Civil Rights & Equality and Human Trafficking!
