Have you ever heard the phrase start with the end in mind? For most of us I think the end parenting goal is to grow our children into happy, well-adjusted, self-sufficient adults. But when my guest Kelly Nault was a college counselor many of the young adults she met were anything but. And that lack of self-confidence that came from feelings of insufficiency for those students could become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Kelly and I talk about the importance of going back to the basics with our kids – teaching the life skills everyone needs to know to become independent, not just the fun extracurriculars many families are focused on in today’s world.
We also talk about the unique challenges of parenting a strong-willed child, and how to channel your strong-willed child’s need for control into the attributes we want our kids to exhibit as adults.
About the Guest:
Kelly Nault is an award-winning parenting author, recovering people pleaser & creator of the SMART Mom Path.
Twenty-four years ago, Kelly struggled with a strong-willed child... whose SUPERPOWER was finding ALL her child discipline loopholes. Then...she got help (plus, her master's and pre-doctoral in counselling, too).
Instead of believing positive discipline, or attachment parenting was THE answer, she created a customizable SMART Mom Path... which helps dedicated moms raise a respectful child, but WITHOUT mom burnout, nor breaking their child’s spirit.
Kelly’s had the honour of speaking to over 1,000,000 moms as a parenting spokesperson and has been featured in publications such as Today’s Parenting magazine. Her award-winning book is called, When You’re About to Go Off the Deep End... Don’t Take Your Kids With You.
Kelly’s passion is helping committed moms with a strong-willed child eliminate the exhausting tantrums and fights, so they can enjoy a loving family and be more of the mom their children deserve!
Kelly’s FREE quiz: “What’s Your Mom Type?” helps moms discover their SECRET alter ego and is found at www.JoyfullyParenting.com.
