The world is watching the election in the United States.  There is confusing, and contradictory information out there, so how do parents make sense of the election, and how do they talk to their kids about it?

My guest, award winning political campaign strategist, John Shallman, shares how we can talk to our kids about politics and the current US election.  As a dad of 4 himself, John shares brilliant advice on how to tackle topics like, being bullied for the party you align with, how to question news and where to get a non-bias information, and so much more.

As parents, we want to be the source of information for our kids.  They are looking to us for what to believe, and how to act.  We need to remember how strong our influence is on our kids so let’s use this election to talk to the about government and your own personal values.

There are big issues the world is facing, and our kids’ lives have been turned upside down because of it, they’re worried, they’re feeling scared and unsafe and if they see you demonstrating fear, worry and stress, they’ll feel even more unsettled.

I want parents to know they don’t have to have all the answers to their kids’ questions.  If you don’t know, be honest, and look things up together.  Keep things as age appropriate and simplified as you can.

In this podcast, John also shares the unique story of finding a century’s old manuscript from his late grandfather whom he never met.  This story is of his grandfather who was exiled to Siberia by the last czar of Russia.  This award-winning book is full of romance, revolution and survival.  Check it out here: https://returnfromsiberia.com/?fbclid=IwAR1jK55MdMxBeydClZ1VOSPy2Ji3LFsApLJvL7JXUv8vdSIHwWncK0wiUHk
