Hello, and welcome to Rediscovering U where you will find valuable insights, support and education to help you move through the difficult and often painful process of divorce with grace and courage and hope, and find the ultimate gift of rediscovering yourself. I'm your host, Barb Greenberg, award winning author and founder of rediscovering you. If I'd had access to a resource like this, during my divorce, I would have not felt so isolated, I would have made much better decisions, I still would have breathed for that for so hard for so long. And I wouldn't have eaten so many boxes of macaroni and cheese. When women heal, families heal, when families heal communities heal. When communities heal, the possibilities are endless. Let's get started.
Barb Greenberg:Someone recently asked me to share a little bit about rediscovering you and what we're all about. And I thought, oh, let's start with a story. I have a really good story. And I thought, well, first, I should probably tell you what we do. And what we do is we provide education, support and resources for women who are moving through divorce at every stage of divorce. So if you're just starting, and you don't know where to start, if you're post divorce, but there's still issues, and everywhere in between. And we have women who keep coming back, because even though their divorce is over, they love the community. They love a lot of the classes because as well as the nuts and bolts information, we share, we share a lot of information that's just good life information, just good things to know for life.
Barb Greenberg:So back to the story. This was pre COVID When we were meeting in person, so there were maybe six, six women at that class that night. And we were in a private room around a conference table. And there was a box of Kleenex in the middle because you never know, right? And then there were chocolate kisses scattered around the table in front of everybody. Because we wanted to make sure everybody had enough chocolate for the week. And how our meetings would go Is it the beginning people could share a little bit about their story if they wanted? For a couple reasons. One was, it was a place where your story was honored what you said help somebody else. And then everyone knew they were not alone, which was wonderful. And there was a new woman that night, who was very teary, she was very scared. Or you could just feel it. She had a Kleenex clutched in her hand. And she said, I know I need to divorce. I need to leave this. This is such a bad situation. That's a dangerous situation. I feel very unsafe. I'm feeling like I'm just overwhelmed. And I don't think I can do it. I don't think I can do it. I'm just too scared. Well, woman, across from her across the table from her was on the other side of her divorces, just dealing with some issues that haven't been resolved. She leans across the table. She Pat's, this person, she Pat's, her on the arm. And she looks at her with a lot of love. And she says, You can do it, you're going to be okay. You can do it. Oh my gosh, the difference in it that made I can't even tell you. And then a year went by. And this new woman had been coming to all the classes. And she looked at me one day and she said, Oh my gosh, now I'm the one on the other side of the table, leaning across it, patting that person's arm, the new person's arm and saying, You can do it, you're going to be okay, you can do it.
Barb Greenberg:That's it. That's the power of rediscovering you. And I just, it gives me chills every time I remember that story. Because that's what we're all about those connections and supporting each other. So now what we've done since we're still dealing with COVID, and want to reach more women who can't come to get to our classes on a Tuesday night, in one part of town, we're holding classes virtually, and we've adjusted our programming so it can still be a powerful, lovely, life changing connection that you can make. And we still have we invite guest speakers. So you get the nuts and bolts pieces, the legal of financial, the insurance, the real estate, all those kinds of issues. Plus we have speakers come in and cover topics like resilience dealing with difficult or narcissistic personalities. finding joy finding forgiveness. We even had a class on dating after divorce. And I thought, oh, nobody's gonna show up and it was packed. So we have all sorts of things, we added a. And now you can do it virtually. So our classes are virtual. So that makes it accessible to so many more women, for which I'm very grateful. We added podcasts. So reassurance stories and inspiration, insights, education, you can listen to at your convenience, which is a wonderful way to stay connected. We have a coffee and conversations. So we have professionals who set aside like 15 to 20 minutes, that they will, you can schedule a time to speak with them one on one. So an attorney or financial planner, oh, nice to be able to say, yeah, I really want to talk to this person. Because I'm, I don't know where to start, or I'm stuck, or whatever the issue may be, and you have a free 15 to 20 minute time slot to visit with them. I think that that's been wonderful. We have a monthly virtual chat and chocolate, you got to come back to the chocolate, right? It's another way to stay connected, meet friends develop friendships support each other. It's almost like a mini happy hour. It's just a place where you can be happy or sad, and share and grow and connect. They're wonderful. And then if you're part of our community, you receive a treasure in your email from us regularly. It might be a poem, an inspirational poem, or a short meditation, or a PDF about, you know, am I codependent or not? Or how am I resilient or not, or how to be resilient are 10 steps to or five ways to or just all sorts of treasures that can really enrich your experience your not just your life now, but your journey forward and your new life. And for a small monthly fee, you also have access access to our private Facebook group to continue the conversations, and a free pass to all the classes and discounts on workshops and courses as they become available. So that's super cool, too. I really wish I'd had something like this. During my divorce, I felt so lost and scared and overwhelmed and isolated and all those things. And you may be searching for a community of women that are dealing with like similar issues, the stories, the specifics of the stories are always different. But the issues are the same. And it's just nice to be in that environment. I remember I have so many wonderful friends that really supported me, most of which though, had not gone through divorce. So they kind of didn't get it. I appreciated them more than I can say. But it's so nice to be in a group where people understand and really get it. And so I shared with you one of my favorite stories. And now I just want to share a couple of testimonials quotes from women who had attended our classes. And I just so that you get a sense of how it impacts people. I feel hope about the future, when I come away from these classes. You showed me I can be someone with confidence and how important it is to get to know yourself. You have improved the view for all of us who otherwise would have been stuck in darkness. And this one is really touches me because I remember vividly this person, as I go through the season have such great fear and loss. I'm holding on to the lifeline of hope that you have provided.
Barb Greenberg:I still get emotional when I read these. And I've had people ask that they say, Isn't it depressing to work with women who are dealing with divorce? And I could No, it's totally the opposite for me. I'm dealing with women who are brave and courageous and moving forward and wanting to heal and wanting to find hope. They have. They're kind to each other. They have a sense of humor, even in the darkest of times. They have faith in their future, even though they don't know quite what it's going to be. And I just I'm so inspired. And every week I would tell them at our classes, you guys you inspire me. And I'm very honored and humbled to be a part of their journey. And if you feel that this is something that could benefit you, please check us out. We are here. The reason we are here is for you.
