Kinsey Machos:

I'm Kinsey Machos your host and founder of the category queen. Welcome to the podcast for coaches, consultants, and course creators who don't just want to dominate their niche, but they desire to play in their own way. My mission is to help you unlock the power of your unique brilliance, and use it as a vehicle to gain recognition, reach more people and make more money. Not too long ago, I took a bold leap, leaving behind a six figure corporate salary, with nothing more than a US MacBook, and a burning desire for more freedom. Today, our brand has become globally recognized helping 1000s of female founders to become industry leading experts. Join us each week as we go on a journey together to discuss mindset, marketing, and money. More importantly, the real life discussions about balancing success with motherhood and marriage. Because we're a community of women who build and scale impact driven businesses, but do it without sacrificing the things that matter most to us. Welcome to the category Queen show. Hello, good morning, my beautiful friends, I am so happy to be here. I'm excited about this episode, you might notice that there is a new name and a fresh look to the podcast fresh feel. And I want to unpack that today. I'm so, so excited. Maybe I'm a little bit nervous, I just kind of noticed, checked in with my body. But that's all a good sign. And really just bringing something to life that has been really just a very private thing, personally, but also professionally, obviously, the team and I have been working really hard behind the scenes all year long to bring this vision to life and also just personal a lot of personal growth and trials and tribulations that have really led to this moment, and are such a big part of really the story of what I want to share today. So if you think about the category Queen name, I want to share where this came from, and really the vision of where we're headed. So let's unpack that. I'm like, let's just dive right in. So probably about 18 months ago, maybe closer to two years, I read a book called play bigger. And this book was really about it's really up my zone of genius, right? When you think about what I love to do, it's a run the messaging, the positioning of offers, marketing and selling them right. And through your content. And this book was about market domination. And in play bigger, they talk about category leaders, and they reference category leaders as category kings. And it's so interesting, because when I read it the first time I really heard that term, my whole body like jolted because naturally I'm like, Why? Why what why category queens or why category King and instantly had this like epiphany of this of really my company and where we're going and realizing that it's so much bigger than, you know, selling offers online, getting known online and starting to scale your business. You know, all the things that we had been talking about and serving our clients with. This is the moment that I realized, oh my gosh, it's so much bigger than that. And if you think about women, growing businesses, and the complexities and the nuances within that are just so big. And seeing the category King reference really ignited that within me in that

Kinsey Machos:

women can hold those spaces too. And to be fair, they referenced you know, these category Keens, they're like companies like Uber and things like that. So and I'm not here to, you know, build on a feminist movement or anything like that. It really is. It was really this like this instant fuel within me of really bringing everything together of what we've been doing for this several years up to that point. And using it under the umbrella of helping women not just really dominate their industries, but like really really love their life because I realized you know, a You're too in, because we had such fast growth and success, that running a business as a woman is just so much different than running a business as a man. And I don't want to just get I don't want to like speak in general terms, obviously. But all of my peers and everybody that I've talked to this comes up naturally. But even when I look at my husband and him running his business, and then me and running my business, it's obviously different. And it's obviously different businesses. But as women as moms, we just carry things so differently. And obviously, I just like, I'm speaking from personal experience, and also the conversations I've had, but we carry things so differently, we have so many, like so many details to cover, we have, you know, our brains are going all the time, all the things you know, when is wins cheer practice, oh, basketball, carpool, oh, flight tickets to cheer camp, Oh, get the dog food, Oh, get that right. And again, in fairness, my husband probably does more than I do, when it comes to some of the, the home responsibilities or whatever, but the way that he's able to compartmentalize in the way that I'm not really and again, I'm working on it, but it's very different. And ultimately, I think, for me, when I think of even, you know, the bazillion appointments, that we have to go to dentist appointments and doctor's appointments, all the things, you know, we, we do desire to, you know, my husband, and I do desire to split that. And, you know, he'll help if he needs to, but ultimately, like, I wanted to be the one to do that. And there's just things that I want to continue to carry as my responsibility instead of passing it on to him. Because, you know, I have a bigger business, or I'm busier, or whatever that looks like. And I think that this is all in the vein of this message of you can have both. And that you don't have to sacrifice your time with your family to build an extraordinary business. And that is when we think about really establishing leadership. In your business, it's also about establishing leadership in your life as a woman and really feeling proud of what you're building in both realms. And that you can have both, and it's okay to want to have both. So there was there was just this flood of emotion that came through, which is so interesting, if you think about even through the lens of like just that category, King name, and how that really just initiated this vision, and really helped me see how all these pieces go together. And also really highlighted this the duality of being a business owner as a woman. And so I started to really sink into that in the category queen, right? Obviously, I'm like, Well, what about the category cleans, right? That name stuck with me for a while until I actually started to talk about it. And in the meantime, I wanted, I had the desire to really build something that was bigger than me, that was also really around a bigger purpose versus, you know, some great offers. And that was recognizable, you know, industry wide without me having a face to it. And so we're having these convert, I started to bring these conversations to the team, I started to really understand the difference between, you know, a business brand versus a personal brand and what the differences were and the downside upside where the upsides and the downsides were to that, and starting to give myself, you know, the knowledge and tools to understand what would this look like to start to shift under this bigger thing, which I knew was the category queen. And so, you know, we sat in that for a while, and I didn't want to derail us too much, because we were having such incredible momentum. And I knew that if we went balls to the wall and completely shifted the business, under this new name and shifted all the assets and all the websites, all the podcasts, all those things, it would be a lot of work. And to be honest, we are a lean team, and I desire to stay that way. And I really wanted to stay focused on again, where we were taking our current clients and students at the time. And so we were just starting to play around with what would it look like to start to slowly build up to that and really start to make sure that our offerings were in line with that mission and that brand, and start to slowly put the pieces in play. Instead of which, you know, typical me this all or nothing thinking is a very real thing. For me, and I continue to catch myself doing it because I do believe it can get you into some serious trouble of this all or nothing thinking. And so I we really explored sort of this in between and what would it look like to move solely to that without putting the business at risk, or, you know, really sabotaging the success that we had already created. And so since then that's what we've been doing, we've been having big and small conversations about offer alignment, and Avatar alignment, and then asset alignment and starting to build the roadmap out to that. And really the first thing that actually came to life in relation to the category Queen brand without maybe even people recognizing it was having our first in person event in Houston, which was the category Queen live event. And that was really fun, because I got to kind of express this thing without having to really share like full details, or feel like we had to explain ourselves. So that was really the first time that this name really made its appearance in public in Texas of all places in and it felt really cool. But again, there wasn't a lot from there that we really wanted, or that we had planned on really like totally shifting in till the next year, when we launched our new offer at launch like a queen. And again, that was just a way of really bringing infusing that category Queen name just by, like offer name and alignment. So there's been the some of these like little things that we've been bringing to life underneath this mission or vision, but I wasn't quite ready to kind of go the whole shebang. But here we are. And I feel like when we think about even making this brand become more known globally, since my personal brand is right. I think that the podcast is obviously the best way to do that. And also, you know, our current claims and students. But one of the things that we have been working the hardest on literally all year long, is our signature offer. So what we did was we took our previous Ted Kay content collective, which we sold for two years, and the success stories out of that the this like the testimonials out of the offer, still to this day, blow me away the types of women that we have put through that offer the in that community like I it is, it was such a humbling experience. And what that showed me is that this idea of scalable offers, right, you can have a bigger impact without coaching people all the time. And because I had dialed in that framework, so well, that was so cool to bring that to the industry two years ago, and see that people could get results through the curriculum. And of course, we have, you know, we had a coaching component to it. But ultimately, we were really bringing that framework to life and letting people self guide themselves. You know, as they wanted coaching, they would hop on a coaching call, but really leaning on the community leaning on the curriculum and taking action. And that was really, really cool, because I love scale of offers so much. And I wanted to prove to people that you can have a bigger, bigger impact without, again, breaking the rules or sending a bunch of DMS to people or coaching for hours on end every day. And that's what we did. So we what we did was because this offer it was so solid, it was already proven, we just repackaged it and elevated it. So we redid all the curriculum, we moved the community off of Facebook, because Facebook was really just not on par to the type of experience we wanted to create for our community, especially in line with the category Queen brand. So we moved it off Facebook, we even moved off of Kajabi and created this beautiful, amazing new iteration of 10k now called the category Queen School, which is also a entry level into category clean insiders. You get access to that as a free trial when you enroll in the category clean school. But bringing this all together, the curriculum, the community, the platform, all of it took us for one a long time just to solidify that vision and really made sure that this was the offer we wanted to really bring to the market as their signature one of our signature offers and was this a lifer? I really wanted to sink into a life or offer and know that this will grow beyond me, right? I I won't say never but it's very, very unlikely that I'll ever sell the business. But that's how I think about it and that I had a mentor teach me that is like you may never To sell the business, but if you want a business that runs without you, and that it's humming, and it's growing, and it's scaling, and it doesn't require so much of you, you have to think like that you have to think of setting it up as, as its own entity, and really thinking about if you were to exit that business, would it still run and grow and gain that notoriety without you. And I do ultimately want that piece because I don't want to, I want people to really gain

Kinsey Machos:

that confidence and clarity and get the results without feeling like it's attached to my personal name, if you will, right. It's like I, there's other coaches that my team is ingrained in this. And when they attach their results and their success story with that happening within the category, Korean brand, that's what excites me. So we have literally spent all year and then really, really dialed this in the last few months in bringing this this new offer to life in this new community. And we just launched it. And I feel like this in combination with, you know, re launching the podcast with the new name, it's just like, it's out the cat is out of the bag. And it's, it feels so good. Because it's been something that has been really stirring within me, it's created a lot of negative emotion, to be honest, because of you know, me feeling impatient, I've been dragging my feet a little bit, which has caused more pain. But it's also created a positive motion, but because I, we couldn't quite share it yet. And there was just a lot of things that needed to occur before we could really really, you know, announce it to the world. It it just it just feels it felt so hard to keep that to ourselves. And to have such a powerful vision, but not to be able to share with the world. So this feels good. This feels so good. And as soon as we really brought the category, clean school to the market, it was like everything lifted for me. And I felt like this newer version of myself. And I finally saw the clouds lift because all the while, again, I can see the vision, but because we've just been in the weeds for so long and getting everything organized. And in order and, and aligned with where we're going. It just has been a really, really challenging time of just like frustration and, you know, anyway, so it feels good that to kind of like see those clouds left and just kind of like sink back into. Yes, more of myself, I feel like I kind of come back to myself, but it's a different version of myself, I feel like I've kind of need to get familiar with this person of who I am. Because I feel so different even from three months ago. And I talked about this even within the podcasts are one of the episodes a couple of weeks ago about the reinvention process, I'm in a huge reinvention season, so much so that literally every week that goes by, I feel so different. So surprise, here we are the category clean brand. So what this means really is just, you know, the name is going to, we really want to bring more awareness to the category Queen brand. And all of our offers will align with the brand itself. And we'll start to really just make sure that there's just more streamlined and solidification in everything that we do. I think that one of the the things that I really really was feeling pulled to is to build more of that movement identity piece versus, again, these just like, offers here and there. I wanted it all to really feel clear and streamlined underneath the core mission of the category queen, which is helping women unlock their unique brilliance and use it as a vehicle for change. So they can build an extraordinary business around their extraordinary life. And it all comes back to again that moment when I read that book and saw that name, the category King, and I was like, Oh heck yeah, here comes the category queens and we want, we help our women dominate their space, but it's not even about dominating. It's really about playing in your own league. And the story here really goes back to even my own origin story, which was so fascinating. If you think about it through the lens of a category leader. If you think about somebody that really owns a niche or is able to get known in their industry. It all comes back to what they get known for and their decision in getting known for that thing. And when I go back to walking away from my corporate career and taking a risk on my To solve and building a business, the thing that catapulted me was discovering that I did have an expertise, I had a unique expertise that I could use to help other people get what they want, so that I could also help myself get what I want. And too many women go through life and also business not really seen their unique qualities, their unique characteristics, and also their unique brilliance as a way to really, really create momentum in their life. And instead of trying to fit themselves into box box, like boxes, really, if you think about it, even at the very tactical level, you know, this, I'm gonna fit you into an AI help statement, right? But there's so much more to you. And that really is the foundation of getting clients online. It's the foundation of high converting content, it's the foundation of offers that sell, if you are not confident in who you are, and you aren't really accessing the most potent form of your brilliance, which is the very thing that is going to draw people to you, if you're not accessing that, then everything else will just feel harder. And I it's really easy to believe that it's more followers or better reels, or fancier funnels, that creates results online, but it's actually not. And if you look at my origin story, my success story in any of our other clients success stories, the catapult comes from them really unlocking that piece. And so we firmly believe that when a woman recognizes her unique brilliance, the world shifts, when you allow women to help more people who are also going to go out and help more people, right? That is what creates change. And when you get money in the hands of more women, again, good things happen. So this is all in alignment with what we want to build our movement and mission around, and where we want to take you and we're going to take you on that journey. And we're going to still talk about obviously, Mindset and Marketing and messaging. But we also want to make sure we're talking about the real real, you know, of what it's like to run a business as a mom, my life isn't perfect. My morning this morning was a literal shit show. But I think that when things break or when things fall apart, or when things aren't going well, well, I think women are more likely to shame themselves for it. And it naturally creates more of a sabotaging pattern. And so I want to get people out of that. So we're going to talk about that too. And really what it means to not just dominate your niche, but playing your own league, not just in your business, but in your life. And I really feel like I have done this so well and will continue to do it because it's an Infinite Journey. And I want to keep sharing those with you. So we're so excited for this new era. And we're so excited for you to really see what's coming. And also to really come on this journey together to discover more of you and build your business around more of you and build your life around really more of you. So you can have both in the way that you desire and nothing less. And that what is freaking firing me up. And I'm literally sweating as I say it because it's, it's so it's like in my bones. And I know that God is just, he is working so strongly through me because of this. And again, before I could really see it for what it was it created a lot of resistance in my business in my life. But it was so good to be on the other side of that and to be able to share this with you, and to really give you a peek of what we've been working on, but also where we're going and really just just inviting you to come along with us.
