Have you ever had that experience where you've watched the last episode of your favorite show? And then you spend the next week or so really missing the characters? Because it's part of it's like the finality, finality of it. And you're like, I just missed those guys. And it seems mad, right? These are TV characters, fictional characters. So why is that? And why do we love the characters and our favorite TV show. Now, they use a system the best shows us a system which has been going around for many, many years, which is using all the different personality types, the main ones, because there's that way, there's all these characters that remind you either of yourself, or the favorite people in this world. Now one that has seemed to have done really, really well. And I remember learning this when I was first learning to use the profiling tool that I use was reference friends, and how they've got all these different personality types really clearly defined, and read through a comedy lens, so it's feel good. And so the value of it is that we've got all these unique characters that have got distinct differences that when put together, then it creates this amazing combination. It's true in the best teams that you've played it in with the best work teams that you've been part of the best farm that the best family scenarios. And the best combination of people is because there's a representation of all these names, all these main types of personality archetypes. And when they then are put in front of you on the screen. Magic happens and you're really drawn to it. So what can you learn about that for yourself? Well, first is identifying where you see it. Amongst that may be your, your that performer that loves to be out the front, you think of someone like Joey in France, who was the entertainer who was more than happy, even even the work that he did, right? As an actor. Or maybe you're more of the detailed, focused, system based person, where you really like how all of the finer details and the you know not You're not nerding out on the specifics. Maybe more than that nurturing character, maybe you're a bit of centric, and you're and you're really good at coming up with these different concepts, big picture concepts that might be a bit abstract. And you think about the characters in all these shows that you really identify with, or maybe that you're frustrated by, because maybe you're frustrated by them, because they remind you a little bit too much of yourself and not in a positive way to start having a look at these different shows. And be curious. Are you that people connected the person on the show that always seems to be able to bring people together? Are you that Peacekeeper that seems to be the one that's always putting out the fires and making sure everyone's all okay. There's so many different dynamics. For me, that's always fascinated me how people get along. And and so when I started learning this tool back 10 years ago, and then realizing well, one, what an impact it had for me and then being able to then be well so appreciative that that my boss at the time gave me the opportunity to take all my staff through that same process and the the impact that it had for our team as individuals first and foremost, but then how we're able to interact because we'd see each other's differences. And that's what's possible in these scenarios, not just in a TV show, but how we apply that to our to our life. It's one of my favorite things of passing on to the people that I work with the people that I coach is showing them these differences than themselves and seeing that, well, actually, you've got a real power in this part of you that just comes so naturally. But just see how much of your time you're actually trying to be like these other people that maybe they're part of a TV show, more likely they're part of your daily life, you're unfairly comparing yourself to how other people operate, because you like, I'd like to be more like that. Really, they probably like to be more like you, but you're not seeing it. So the more you can come back to that part of you, that's just so natural, it's so easy. And then the team environment, you leverage those other skills, or a family environment, environment or any sort of group. So I shared this concept through the lens of the TV show, because that's the one where most people will relate. You rarely see TV shows where there's characters that are identical, identical, there's always the subtle differences. And that's what makes them something that we're drawn to. So they have a think about your day to day life and and the unique differences that for the most important people in your world, the ones who are closest to you. How do they operate? How are they different? Maybe those ones that frustrate you that annoy you in certain ways, and then you realize that perhaps it's because they're actually more likely than you care to admit. And then keep coming back to self as like all those areas that I do feel so naturally inclined to how can I be more of that into my world. It's not to say that we don't need to operate in all those different areas, but we're going to get best results, we're going to add most value, that 8020 rule, and we're spending 80% of our time on that 20% That brings all the value.
And if it's something that you'd love to know more about, then I'll actually I'll have to start sharing more about this, but reach out, send me a message and I'll give you my best tips and thoughts on where you might sit on the spectrum as well.
