Have you ever had one of those moments where you were just so present where you were eating? That you could feel every crunch? You could taste every flavor now makes me think of people who are wine tasting, they're trying to get into that moment where they can taste all of the different flavors, better particular wine. Now on no wine connoisseur, but that was just the thought that came to mind I was I was as I was thinking about a moment 2013 When I did my NLP training, neuro linguistic programming, and nothing helps you come back to presence more than going through an experience like that, where you're not only learning to facilitate, but you're going through your own shifts, while learning to do that. And I can so vividly remember at lunchtime on that day three or four, when just something landed with me and it made sense. I got myself a hamburger went down to the river there were near where the event was happening. And I built into this thing. And I can just remember that the explosion of textures, of colors or flavors, I could taste every bit instead of it being the usual environment which I would, which I'd come from and would go back to which was rushing around, going to work, rushing home, taking the kids somewhere, and then million miles an hour with all the different things. But in that moment, it was presents, I was using all of my senses in a way that I couldn't remember doing prior to that. Probably since I was quite a young child. Now I gotta be honest, I experienced that. But then I got a long way away from that a year, went back into corporate back into the busyness. little glimpses of it here and there. And then even into business. It's funny how much of those old habits then repeat in business and go about it the same way. And then And then even when I slowed down, still wasn't present because I was wasn't being able to switch off the noise in my head was so loud, just relentless. The pressure of business building and building and life in general, not just business just have the day to day of managing a household and interacting with all the important people. What I've learned is that often this concept of switching off, he's like, Oh, you need to stop more you need to slow down. Yes, you absolutely do. But you are able to slow down and switch off more when you are more organized, when you are more structured, and when you are more active. Because you're just using your time to switch off just sitting around. And if you're going into work where things aren't as organized as they could be or should be. Or if you are in business and you're jumping from one thing to the next. And the ability to be present is nigh on impossible. Unless you have those daily disciplines. Get yourself up at the time you want to get up. Get into the routine that you know will give you your best energy for the day. Make sure you're active. Make sure you know the rhythm of the day that works best for you and stick to one and then you'll have more of those moments where you are completely present. Whether it's with the person that you're meeting with, whether it's at home with your partner, children, friends, whether it's a colleague, a client, or just a random stranger, whether it's when you're alone, when you are, in stillness when you are eating when you are doing anything, when you will just have all of your senses, tuned in to what you're doing. Take the time to do that sometime today. And I promise you, you'll open your eyes to a whole different experience and how you are currently living. Breathe. Close your eyes, if helpful, definitely helps for me. Even as you listen to this podcast, as long as you're not driving, or operating heavy machinery, but close your eyes, try with eating or drinking. Close your eyes, tune into all your senses, the sounds, the smells, the textures, the flavors, and experience a whole new level of presence. And of course, if you have any problems doing that, where do you need to add more structure, more discipline, more consistency into your day. This is where you find presence. This is where you're able to quieten that noise in your head. It's a magic place.
