What’s The Rush?

What’s The Rush?

I have some super gifted friends who’ve been doing some things for a wicked long time. They've been clear & focused and have devotedly put in the “10,000 hours” or more into studying, practicing and living their area of expertise.

They’re disciplined in learning their craft, whatever that may be and have spent many, many years discovering, developing and becoming deft in their knowledge in a particular field. And yet, those very same brilliant people do not go around calling themselves a “Master”. Ha!

There’s this level of humility that comes with their skill, because even though they know a lot and they know it well; they also understand that there’s always still so much to be learned.

Unfortunately, what we’re seeing a lot of out in the world right now, is so many people professing to be proficient, experienced and accomplished at something, without laying down the groundwork first. They “hang a shingle”, start calling and selling themselves as a thing, maybe before they’re actually ready and safely able to do or be the damn thing.

Today on the Karen Kenney Show, we’re taking a look at why so many people feel the need to jump from “just learned it - to teaching it” all in one go? Why there’s such a hustle to go from “saw it, stealing it, selling it” without giving the ideas, skills, processes, or materials a chance to marinate and become a self-learned & self-earned experience.

In the online world, it seems like everybody’s in a rush to get the fame, the fortune, the followers and the “friends”, that they leave out the part where they haven’t put in the hours that it takes to become “masterful” or wicked good at their craft.

They’re not only leaving their lanes, but they’re also trying to cut lanes. And as any awake and aware driver worth their salt knows, that shit can get real dangerous, real quick.

As my dad used to say in the car when we were kids… “Everybody’s in a feckin’ rush to go nowhere.”

Not only is this counterproductive to the instructor/teacher/coach themselves, but it’s a disservice to their clients who are coming to them for genuine help.

Join me as we talk about taking a step back, slowing down and opening up our hearts and minds to the continued learning that will not only benefit our business and clients but for ourselves as well.

Don’t be afraid to put in the time. If you start to get anxious or fearful or feel the need the hurry, ask yourself, “What’s the Rush?”
