Mathematician Janelle Resch of the Audio Research Group at the University of Waterloo is the project lead on the Mc Donald's Boombox, a free sound system and science toy being handed out as a limited promotion item at the restaurant's Woodbine Beach location in Toronto. Using no electronics and only 100% recyclable materials, Janelle's team leveraged theoretical acoustics to transform a drinks tray into a paper smartphone speaker system delivering up to 70.4 dB.
