Very thorough & respectful— haters gunna hate

Been listening to several years along with many highly regarded true crime podcasts, acc to Reddit :) (I’m NOT a fan of comedy true crime, banter between two hosts about random things throughout an episode, the cliche true crime podcast these days, etc). Ashley and Brit nail it perfectly and so so carefully. They’re extremely thorough and tedious with research and citing their sources (I know about the citation controversy in past, along with so many other podcasts doing the exact same, and props to cj for doing what they needed to do to fix it).

Ashley and Brit’s chemistry is also better than ever— what I really thought shows through in their research and episodes is how legitimately interested and passionate about crime they’ve always been, e.g., Ashley keeping a journal of license plate tag numbers as a kid in case they were criminals and esp esp her work with crime stoppers long before this podcast. Even though cj is their own thing, they’re slightly comparable to me to true crime garage— they haven’t sold themselves to a corporate company, are extremely passionate and respectful, and give a really detailed and interesting description/explanation. Re: reviews about the unsolved cases— they’re trying to make a difference in cases; that’s their ultimate goal, and with as many listeners as they have, if they were truly passionate and committed to what should be the goal of true crime podcasts, why wouldn’t they talk about unsolved cases? I get that it can feel unsatisfying to listeners, but I can’t even imagine how a case being unsolved is to victims’ family members. I don’t write reviews much whatsoever (i.e., I’m not a serial ranter!), but these recent negative reviews were not a good representation of the show at all. But haters gon’ hate. My rant is over but hope it is a little helpful to someone :).
