On this Episode (28) of GOLD SHIELDS, Dan and Tom interview 46 year veteran Arson Investigator at the Long Beach, Ca Fire Department PATRICK WILLS. Pat’s career is amazing, and certainly had Dan and Tom hanging on his every word. Pat’s career took a drastic and emotional turn on December 14, 2007, when a tragic fire took the lives of three young girls. Stephanie, Jasmine, and Jocelyn Aviles were asleep when the fire started and they never got out. The mental anguish that case brought to Pat’s life impacted him for years, and would haunt him until he was finally diagnosed with PTSD. Pat’s recount of that sad day, and the days that followed, shows the mental impact of a case like this, especially when the victims are all children. The darkness of this case resonated through the Fire Department, The Police Department, Medical Examiners, 911 Dispatchers, and the entire Community, and Pat’s explanation of all that is powerful and should not be missed.
