Ashley Smith discusses the events surrounding her husband, Aaron Cody Smith, who served as a Police Officer in Montgomery, Alabama. She recounts the tragic shooting incident he was embroiled in, which ultimately led to his conviction for Manslaughter and a 14-year prison sentence. Presently, he remains incarcerated as appeals are underway.
The shooting transpired on the morning of February 25, 2016, in Montgomery, Alabama, resulting in the death of a 58-year-old man who was shot near his residence while attempting to evade a stop-and-frisk initiated by Ashley's husband. Initially charged with murder, Smith faced indictment by a grand jury in 2016, and the trial unfolded in late 2019. Subsequently, Smith was found guilty of manslaughter, receiving a 14-year prison term in January 2020.
During her discussions, Ashley delves into her personal experiences throughout the trial and subsequent conviction. She also highlights the involvement of The Gallagher's Pipe Hitter Foundation and articulates her belief that this case represents a miscarriage of justice.
