A US Commercial Airline crashed into the Hudson River, in New York City. Oscar Smith was an NYPD Police Officer and part of their prestigious dive team. He talks about the amazing rescue and salvage operations by him, his team and all of the
first responders. He also discusses Police Officer’s Dark Sense of Humor.
On January 15, 2009 a US Commercial Jet Airliner crash landed into the Hudson River after being incapacitated by a bird strike. It was quickly dubbed as "the Miracle on the Hudson" by the media. A National Transportation Safety Board official described it as "the most successful ditching in aviation history". Their were a total of 155 occupants, 5 of which were crew. Despite the crash, the cold and rapid waters, there were no deaths.
Oscar Smith, now retired from the NYPD, was part of their elite dive team and was on scene. He details the rescues, and salvage operations by him, his team and other first responders. He also talks about the reasons why Police develop and use a dark sense of humor.
