Richard Valdemar is our guest. He retired Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) in 2004, where for most of his 33 years he fought gangs and gang violence. Richard grew up in the gang environment of Southern California. He’s an internationally recognized expert in both traditional and non-traditional gangs, having worked as a law enforcement trainer in a number of “gang” schools. He was a technical advisor to many Gang programs on television and appeared in many episodes of the television series "Gangland".
