Gary Edgington is a retired law enforcement officer. He was appointed a Special Agent with the California Department of Justice. He worked major narcotics cases, organized crime, unsolved homicide, and more.
While in his third week of the LA Sheriff’s Academy his Father, Police Patrolman Harold L. Edgington was stabbed to death by a deranged man while issuing a parking citation. Even though he was mortally wounded by the stab wound, his Father, Patrolman Edgington was able to shoot the subject in the hip as the man fled. A bystander who witnessed the incident used Patrolman Edgington's motorcycle radio to call for assistance. Other responding officers shot and killed the suspect as he threatened them with the knife used to kill his Father.
After retiring from the DOJ he deployed to Iraq as an embedded counter terrorism / organized crime subject matter expert working counter-IED with the US Army. All of his experiences led to his writing the book "Outside the Wire".
