00:00:31.701 --> 00:00:34.146
Oh, ian man, wait a minute.
00:00:34.146 --> 00:00:39.600
Ian was never my patient, but Ian is a damn good comedian.

Thank you for being here.
00:01:09.765 --> 00:01:19.313
We are celebrating my smile makeover anniversary Three years ago in May, which happens to be my birthday month, so we are celebrating that too.
00:01:20.361 --> 00:01:23.540
I got my smile finally finished.
00:01:23.540 --> 00:01:34.689
I wore braces when I was in high school, hated my smile, I always had a gap, I always had teeth that flared out a little bit and I've always had a gummy smile.
00:01:34.689 --> 00:01:39.325
I want to show you guys my before, if you guys are new to following me.
00:01:39.325 --> 00:01:41.611
Hey, dr, coach, hello, hello.
00:01:41.611 --> 00:01:42.433
Hey Dar.
00:01:42.433 --> 00:01:45.001
Yes, that was fast, right, dar.
00:01:45.001 --> 00:01:47.584
I mean, the time went by quickly.
00:01:47.584 --> 00:01:53.350
Let me cheers to my smile, cheers to your smiles, If you're thinking about getting a new smile.
00:01:53.350 --> 00:01:58.637
I am here to answer all of your questions and we're going to celebrate new smiles.
00:02:05.359 --> 00:02:05.760
Tis the season.
00:02:05.760 --> 00:02:12.373
I know I waited a long time to finally get the smile that I've been wanting, and a lot of times you guys, you put off your smiles because of money, because of fear, because of lack of resources.
00:02:12.373 --> 00:02:14.164
You just don't know where to go.
00:02:14.164 --> 00:02:15.849
You just don't know your options.
00:02:15.849 --> 00:02:19.310
Well, today we're going to talk about my smile makeover.
00:02:19.310 --> 00:02:23.170
As a matter of fact, I want to show you my before.
00:02:23.170 --> 00:02:26.872
I videotaped my entire smile makeover.
00:02:26.872 --> 00:02:37.122
So if you guys never saw me with my gap closed or my gap open, I'm gonna pull up the picture so you can see what I started off with guys.
00:02:37.681 --> 00:02:40.887
All right, so this is me with my gap.
00:02:40.887 --> 00:02:47.295
I've had it since I was a little girl in elementary school, always hated my smile.
00:02:47.295 --> 00:02:49.844
Um, I just they were worse than this.
00:02:49.844 --> 00:02:53.883
This is after a round of braces in high school and wearing Invisalign.
00:02:53.883 --> 00:03:04.268
This is like a little improvement, but I still, uh, three years ago, that's how I walked into my dental office and I was not happy with my smile.
00:03:04.268 --> 00:03:07.835
You can see how gummy my smile is.
00:03:07.835 --> 00:03:09.264
You see more gums.
00:03:09.264 --> 00:03:13.477
The gums are dark, the teeth are short and I just didn't like it.
00:03:13.837 --> 00:03:22.930
And apparently you guys didn't like it either, because y'all used to tear me up on Instagram the people who are so rude and will say anything about your appearance.
00:03:22.930 --> 00:03:27.484
They used to talk about my teeth oh, you did Cardi B's teeth, and look at your teeth.
00:03:27.484 --> 00:03:31.231
They are so cruel out there in the internet world.
00:03:31.231 --> 00:03:54.819
And, um, I used to read the comments and I would, a lot of times, brush my shoulders off and act like it didn't bother me, but I read those comments and, low key, even though I'm cute, either way, gap or no gap, I'm just saying let me get myself some horns for that Even though I felt like I was still attractive hey, purple pill eater, I just wanted to be perfect.
00:03:54.819 --> 00:04:05.688
If I'm going to be doing veneers on other people, I felt like I should have a brand representation of having a beautiful and confident smile.
00:04:05.688 --> 00:04:07.072
So I did it, guys.
00:04:07.412 --> 00:04:14.669
So that was my smile before, and so I actually went to NYU.
00:04:14.669 --> 00:04:22.627
Guys, my colleague was taking a course on veneers in New York city and I decided she needed a patient.
00:04:22.627 --> 00:04:29.209
Her patient canceled at the last minute and she needed a patient and I was like, what better patient than I?
00:04:29.209 --> 00:04:30.966
I should be the patient.
00:04:30.966 --> 00:04:33.526
And right, I'm cute either way.
00:04:33.526 --> 00:04:35.947
Right, hey, speech, speech, I see you.
00:04:36.821 --> 00:04:42.160
So I went in in May, three years ago, to do my smile makeover.
00:04:42.160 --> 00:04:49.374
Now let me pull up the picture of what I ended up doing, boop.
00:04:49.374 --> 00:04:54.194
So the first thing that I did is I went in for a consultation.
00:04:54.194 --> 00:04:56.281
That's what all of you guys should be doing.
00:04:56.281 --> 00:04:59.110
Yeah, oh, you need some implants, I see you.
00:04:59.110 --> 00:05:00.254
Yes, let's do it.
00:05:00.254 --> 00:05:06.867
The first thing you want to do when you're thinking about a smile makeover, which is what I have to do, is I went in for a consultation.
00:05:06.968 --> 00:05:27.021
Now I went to my gum specialist in Manhattan for a consultation because I knew I needed to get rid of the gummy smile first, and so once I saw my gum specialist and I determined it was determined that my gums were healthy and I had no cavities, then I knew I was ready to go.
00:05:27.021 --> 00:05:28.704
It was determined.
00:05:28.704 --> 00:05:38.887
Now, a lot of times, when you need gum surgery to do some alterations of the gums and you can see my gum isn't as gummy as it was before.
00:05:38.887 --> 00:05:46.331
You have to do that first and then a lot of times you have to wait four to six weeks for your gums to heal.
00:05:46.331 --> 00:05:49.168
But my gum specialist said hey, you know what?
00:05:49.168 --> 00:05:52.077
This is going to be an easy gum lift.
00:05:52.077 --> 00:05:57.629
We could do it with the laser and it can be done on the same day as the veneer.
00:05:57.629 --> 00:06:02.305
So that just made my smile makeover that much easier.
00:06:02.685 --> 00:06:06.331
So let me show you a closeup of my before.
00:06:06.331 --> 00:06:08.675
Hold on, let's see Boom.
00:06:08.675 --> 00:06:15.682
Here's a closeup so you can see I mean, the teeth are really short right here and you can see the color.
00:06:15.682 --> 00:06:23.805
Guys, this was very, very important part of my decision to get veneers, because you can see my teeth are like a off.
00:06:23.805 --> 00:06:28.223
They're off white, they have a grayish kind of tone to them.
00:06:28.223 --> 00:06:37.447
And I've tried I had, I tried whitening, like a lot of you guys have tried whitening, and it just wouldn't get pearly white.
00:06:37.447 --> 00:06:56.149
And so you can see on the color scale right here there are different levels of teeth colors and there are some teeth colors the colors that are gray, the colors that are brownish, they don't, they don't receive the teeth whitening very well and so I tried.
00:06:56.149 --> 00:07:00.802
I've gotten every teeth whitening product on the market and it just wouldn't whiten.
00:07:00.802 --> 00:07:06.201
So the other reason outside of me getting veneers was to improve the color of my teeth.
00:07:06.261 --> 00:07:16.872
Because when you get veneers and if you guys never seen a veneer it's a thin shell of porcelain that goes right over the front surface of your teeth.
00:07:16.872 --> 00:07:20.541
Hey, monty Lines, hello, hello, my boy.
00:07:20.541 --> 00:07:25.129
He is a social media, instagram real guru.
00:07:25.129 --> 00:07:27.572
Hey, my partner in crime.
00:07:27.572 --> 00:07:33.971
So this is a veneer and it's a thin shell of porcelain that goes right over the front surface of your teeth.
00:07:33.971 --> 00:07:38.312
Very much like a fake fingernail does the nail bed.
00:07:38.312 --> 00:07:41.141
It doesn't wrap around the circumference of your teeth.
00:07:41.461 --> 00:07:43.723
A lot of times, let me show you guys the difference.
00:07:43.723 --> 00:07:48.870
A lot of times you guys get veneers and crowns confused.
00:07:48.870 --> 00:07:50.052
You don't know the difference.
00:07:50.052 --> 00:07:54.442
So a crown goes over the entire tooth.
00:07:54.442 --> 00:08:08.091
You see that that we have to trim around the circumference of the tooth and then this cap it literally covers the entire tooth, goes over the teeth and that is full coverage of your tooth.
00:08:08.091 --> 00:08:10.656
To protect the tooth from cracking.
00:08:10.656 --> 00:08:23.036
If you've had a root canal, crowns are indicated, but for cosmetic purposes which is why I enhance my smile you don't need to trim down the circumference of your teeth.
00:08:23.656 --> 00:08:30.430
Uh-huh, see there, this is a veneer, so it just goes right over the front and that's what I got.
00:08:30.430 --> 00:08:33.168
So we were able to.
00:08:33.168 --> 00:08:43.309
We wanted to lengthen each one of these teeth so that it it it lengthened the entire tooth and it made my gums less gummy.
00:08:43.309 --> 00:09:00.586
So I'm going to show you, guys, let me show you, what that lasering look like on visit one, and you can also see how much my tooth structure was drilled down, because that's that's one of the things that you guys are afraid of.
00:09:00.586 --> 00:09:02.370
You're afraid that we're going to destroy.
00:09:02.370 --> 00:09:12.787
You see those, those pictures of people going to Turkey and they call it veneers, but it's really crowns and they're really drilling the entire tooth down to enough.
00:09:12.787 --> 00:09:14.730
That's not what veneers are.
00:09:14.730 --> 00:09:16.131
So let me show you.
00:09:16.131 --> 00:09:19.176
Here are my gums lasered.
00:09:19.176 --> 00:09:31.015
So, on the same day as my veneers, this is actually how much tooth structure was drilled away for my veneers and this is actually how much my gums were lasered.
00:09:31.015 --> 00:09:35.197
So you can see the difference of how my teeth look longer.
00:09:35.197 --> 00:09:36.548
Thank you so much.
00:09:36.809 --> 00:09:38.215
I am the Pino.
00:09:38.215 --> 00:09:40.115
Hello, thank you so much.
00:09:40.115 --> 00:09:47.395
We are celebrating my smile makeover, my birthday month and your smile makeover too.
00:09:47.395 --> 00:10:02.499
If you're on the journey to improve your smile, and because I have gone through the veneer process, I want to show you guys, step-by-step, what I had to go through and um show you the final result.
00:10:02.499 --> 00:10:04.229
Now, this is going to be visit one.
00:10:04.229 --> 00:10:06.254
I'm going to show you the end results.
00:10:06.254 --> 00:10:07.197
So visit one.
00:10:07.197 --> 00:10:08.727
We got me numb.
00:10:08.727 --> 00:10:11.133
We then lasered my gums.
00:10:11.133 --> 00:10:18.433
So if you see a little bit of that blackness, um, that's actually a piece of cord that's underneath With the laser.
00:10:18.433 --> 00:10:20.798
It's really, really clean surgery.
00:10:20.798 --> 00:10:34.791
There's no knives, there's no scalpels, but in one day they were able to lift my gums up and make my gums, my smile less gummy and my teeth longer, and so we only started with the top.
00:10:34.871 --> 00:10:40.378
Three years ago I did this at NYU's Aesthetic Advantage.
00:10:40.378 --> 00:10:43.980
They have a whole aesthetic center.
00:10:43.980 --> 00:10:51.707
So when I tell some of you guys that you can save money by going to NYU, you can literally not fly out the country.
00:10:51.707 --> 00:10:54.138
You can stay right here in the United States.
00:10:54.138 --> 00:10:56.869
You could come on to New York City and go to NYU.
00:10:56.869 --> 00:10:58.054
You could have it done by doctors at NYU.
00:10:58.054 --> 00:11:00.144
You can have it done by doctors at NYU.
00:11:00.144 --> 00:11:03.094
You can have it done by students at NYU.
00:11:03.094 --> 00:11:05.533
Of course, the prices are going to be different.
00:11:05.533 --> 00:11:11.158
You could do it as a student patient at their Aesthetic Advantage course.
00:11:11.158 --> 00:11:16.104
There's so many ways that you could get your smile done affordably, and that's what I did.
00:11:16.264 --> 00:11:20.035
I went to NYU's Aesthetic Advantage and I got my smile done.
00:11:20.035 --> 00:11:23.052
So this is what it looks like with my gums lasered.
00:11:23.052 --> 00:11:26.359
And now I'm going to show you the after.
00:11:26.359 --> 00:11:37.932
Let me show you what it looks like Boom, hey, that's right after the procedure.
00:11:37.932 --> 00:11:45.610
My lip is numb, but you can see now when I smile you don't see so much gums, and I love it.
00:11:45.610 --> 00:11:50.320
Oh, it just changed my ability to smile with confidence.
00:11:50.320 --> 00:11:53.392
Before I used to like kind of turn my head.
00:11:53.392 --> 00:11:55.116
I had a good side and a bad side.
00:11:55.116 --> 00:11:58.491
Now today, every side is a good side.
00:11:58.491 --> 00:12:00.456
That's right after the procedure.
00:12:00.456 --> 00:12:04.330
And let me show you the before and after picture.
00:12:04.330 --> 00:12:10.686
There you go, that is me right after the procedure, and what a difference.
00:12:10.765 --> 00:12:21.467
Now these are the temporary veneers and they look really, really good, right A lot of times, and this is how you walk out the door on visit one.
00:12:21.467 --> 00:12:34.505
So when you get a smile makeover when you walk out the door, if your dentist plans everything out now, there is a lot of planning that goes before we actually start drilling your teeth.
00:12:34.505 --> 00:12:41.938
We take moldings of your teeth or we take a wand and a digital scanner and we get a digital imprint of your teeth.
00:12:41.938 --> 00:12:45.672
We send that to the lab I use, frontier Dental Lab.
00:12:45.672 --> 00:12:55.875
Frontier Veneers is where it's at, and they will design and give us a blueprint of what it's going to look like before the dentist gets started.
00:12:55.875 --> 00:13:13.413
So the reason they were able to give me a beautiful smile temporarily is because we planned everything out and you can see, with the temps my teeth are straighter, the gap is closed, the temps are wider and everything looks good.
00:13:13.413 --> 00:13:21.597
You can see in this picture my gums are a little red right where some of the lasering is, but everything healed up really nicely.
00:13:22.205 --> 00:13:27.116
Now, under normal circumstances, you will go home.
00:13:27.116 --> 00:13:29.193
You're going to be careful eating.
00:13:29.193 --> 00:13:34.596
You're going to be careful not to have anything that will stain your veneers.
00:13:34.596 --> 00:13:36.159
That are temporaries.
00:13:36.159 --> 00:13:43.307
The temporaries are really, really they're not as color resistant as the porcelain veneers.
00:13:43.307 --> 00:13:45.110
Hey, mama be styling.
00:13:45.110 --> 00:13:46.654
My mama is in the building.
00:13:46.654 --> 00:13:47.697
Let me give her a horn.
00:13:47.697 --> 00:13:54.437
The temporaries will stain very easily and they can chip and crack really easily.
00:13:54.437 --> 00:13:57.951
I have to tell you they are.
00:13:57.951 --> 00:14:05.195
Uh, they're great because you get a sneak preview of what it's going to look like, what the final veneers are going to look like, but they are.
00:14:05.315 --> 00:14:06.486
You got to be careful.
00:14:06.486 --> 00:14:18.947
They can chip, they can crack, they can stain, especially if you eat like yellow curry or turmeric and those things that really stain your actual, your actual teeth really easy can stain the temps.
00:14:18.947 --> 00:14:20.474
So you got to be a little careful.
00:14:20.474 --> 00:14:23.389
You cannot floss between your temps.
00:14:23.389 --> 00:14:29.229
They're kind of locked together like a grill, so you have to be careful with brushing.
00:14:29.229 --> 00:14:32.778
You can't floss, so you have to really really take care of your teeth.
00:14:33.586 --> 00:14:39.977
And under normal circumstances you'll wear the temporary teeth for about one to two weeks.
00:14:39.977 --> 00:14:43.951
Depending on your dental office, depending on the lab that they're using.
00:14:43.951 --> 00:14:46.717
You'll wear the temps for quite a while.
00:14:46.717 --> 00:14:48.448
I mean it's actually not that long.
00:14:48.448 --> 00:14:51.105
It seems like forever because you're waiting for your real teeth.
00:14:51.105 --> 00:15:02.107
But for me I actually had to wear my teeth for a whole month because it was a uh, a training facility and there were other people getting their smile makeovers done.
00:15:02.107 --> 00:15:09.894
We had to wait a whole month for everybody's smiles to get designed and created before I could get my permanent veneers.
00:15:09.894 --> 00:15:15.408
But it was cool because my gap was closed, I was looking good and I was happy.
00:15:16.090 --> 00:15:17.331
Uh oh, you're from Detroit.
00:15:17.331 --> 00:15:18.033

00:16:38.034 --> 00:16:39.336
You're not a Piston fan.
00:16:39.336 --> 00:16:42.360
Listen, I'm going to tell you guys.
00:16:42.360 --> 00:16:50.418
Today the Knicks played in the Eastern Conference semifinals and they lost.
00:16:50.418 --> 00:17:01.089
They lost to the Indiana Pacers and I have to tell you, when I got to New York in 96, I was an Indiana Pacer fan.
00:17:01.089 --> 00:17:10.493
I know you guys in New York hate me for saying this, but I was a Reggie Miller fanatic Like that is my boo.
00:17:10.493 --> 00:17:17.214
And yet they needed Reggie Miller tonight to suit up in the Nick uniform so they could get those three-pointers and win.
00:17:17.214 --> 00:17:22.688
Yes, hey, nunu, hey, let me get my girl some horns.
00:17:22.688 --> 00:17:24.731
New, new is in the building.
00:17:24.731 --> 00:17:26.193
The city is quiet.
00:17:26.193 --> 00:17:27.596
I watched it today.
00:17:27.596 --> 00:17:33.433
Uh, and man, oh man, the Knicks were really disappointed.
00:17:33.433 --> 00:17:35.258
Knicks fans were really, really disappointed.
00:17:35.317 --> 00:17:38.171
So, uh, back to the smile makeover.
00:17:38.171 --> 00:17:46.574
I wore my temps for a month and then I went back for a second visit and on the second visit you get numb.
00:17:46.574 --> 00:17:52.710
The dentist is going to take out the temps and then try on the veneers.
00:17:52.710 --> 00:17:57.657
Now the veneers are, are, are, are more strong.
00:17:57.657 --> 00:17:58.900
They're more lifelike.
00:17:58.900 --> 00:18:02.224
They are uh uh stain resistant.
00:18:02.224 --> 00:18:09.337
They are exactly what you need to give you that smile that you desire.
00:18:09.337 --> 00:18:21.499
Now the individual veneers are going to be tried in with a temporary glue and for me I got 10 on the top and we try them in first.
00:18:21.499 --> 00:18:40.096
You get a chance to look at them, and here's the disclaimer when you go in to have your veneers tried in, make sure you have a look at them before the dentist uses permanent glue, because that is a point where you can say hey, dr Austin, I wanted them more square.
00:18:40.096 --> 00:18:42.593
Hey, dr Austin, this one's too long.
00:18:42.593 --> 00:18:45.374
Hey, dr Austin, the color is too white.
00:18:46.048 --> 00:18:47.545
We can make changes, guys.
00:18:47.545 --> 00:18:51.997
We don't have to put them in just because we have the veneers back from the lab.
00:18:51.997 --> 00:18:57.136
If there is something that we can adjust right here in the office, we will adjust them.
00:18:57.136 --> 00:18:59.492
If they're too square, we'll round the corners off.
00:18:59.492 --> 00:19:01.753
If they're too long, we can shorten them.
00:19:01.753 --> 00:19:04.846
If they're too short, unfortunately there's nothing we can do.
00:19:04.846 --> 00:19:07.853
We have to send them back, and it's okay.
00:19:07.853 --> 00:19:10.117
The lab is not going to charge us.
00:19:10.117 --> 00:19:13.953
They hate when we send them back, but sometimes they just don't come back right.
00:19:13.953 --> 00:19:19.134
A lot of times they come back right and you do get to walk away with them because you love them.
00:19:19.134 --> 00:19:29.731
But if they're too short or the color is completely off because sometimes if the color is off just a little bit, I can use a different color glue to control the color.
00:19:29.731 --> 00:19:41.479
But once you guys say you like them, then we are going to use that permanent glue that is going to lock to the inside of your teeth and bond to your teeth.
00:19:41.479 --> 00:19:47.597
And when they're bonded to your teeth, under most circumstances they are on to stay.
00:19:47.597 --> 00:19:49.873
Now can they come off?
00:19:49.873 --> 00:19:51.309
Yes, they can.
00:19:51.309 --> 00:19:52.791
I'm not going to lie.
00:19:52.884 --> 00:19:55.193
You guys have seen the stories.
00:19:55.193 --> 00:20:01.617
You've seen Nelly, you've seen the cardi, you've seen people's veneers and crowns come off.
00:20:01.617 --> 00:20:03.929
It is a part of dentistry.
00:20:03.929 --> 00:20:09.487
There is not a dentist in the land who's never had a crown or veneer pop off.
00:20:09.487 --> 00:20:13.718
I guarantee that we try to control it.
00:20:13.718 --> 00:20:24.550
That all has to do with making sure that the bite comes together properly and is equilibrated properly so that there's no interferences when you bite down.
00:20:24.550 --> 00:20:33.122
Sometimes, when you get the veneers in on day one, your mouth is numb and you can't really tell if the bite is closing down properly.
00:20:33.122 --> 00:20:36.128
It really happened to me when my veneers went in.
00:20:36.128 --> 00:20:42.450
I got home and the next day my bite was just a little bit off, so it was a little interference.
00:20:42.450 --> 00:20:47.866
Thank God I'm a dentist because I was able to go to the office and adjust my own bite.
00:20:47.866 --> 00:21:02.630
But if you guys feel like your bite is not closing down all the way properly, you let your dentist know, we bring you back for a follow-up, we make the adjustments and we make sure everything is balanced out so that you don't have any problems.
00:21:03.070 --> 00:21:17.786
Now, if you grind your teeth at night or clench them when you're stressed, then you should wear a mouth guard something that looks like this over your veneers at night so that you put all the pressure and the tension on your guard and not on your teeth.
00:21:17.786 --> 00:21:31.036
If you're putting pressure on your teeth, if you're cracking crab legs, like my client Cardi B does, if you're chewing on ice, if you're eating a lot of nuts, all those things can harm your natural teeth.
00:21:31.036 --> 00:21:47.739
So you have to be expecting that, if you're doing those things and you're participating in those oral habits, that the same things that can happen to your own teeth, that will make them chip and crack, can happen to your own veneers as well.
00:21:47.739 --> 00:21:54.259
You can get cavities surrounding your veneers and in your teeth, you could get gum disease as well.
00:21:54.259 --> 00:22:05.492
So how you maintain your veneers is going to answer one of the most popular questions that I get, which is how long do veneers and crowns last?
00:22:05.492 --> 00:22:07.797
They can last a lifetime, guys.
00:22:07.797 --> 00:22:13.273
Yes, they can last forever, just like your own teeth can last forever.
00:22:13.273 --> 00:22:25.336
So if you, if you take care of them by brushing, by flossing, by um, by rinsing your mouth with antibacterial mouth rinse, you can expect that they're going to last a long time.
00:22:25.336 --> 00:22:27.252
You're going to get your money's worth.
00:22:27.785 --> 00:22:29.651
So I want to open up the floor.
