Navigating the Trucking Terrain with Derrick and Richay Brown: Life Lessons from the Long-Haul, Sanctuary in Solitude, and Rolling Down the Entrepreneurial Highway

Ever wonder what it's like to conquer the highways in a big rig, with the horizon as your office view? This week, I'm joined by Derrick Brown, a commercial truck driver whose childhood dreams steered him into the heart of the trucking industry. As we hit the road on Ready Set Collaborate, Derrick  peels back the curtain on the life of a long-haul trucker, from mastering road safety to whipping up healthy meals in the back of an 18-wheeler. With anecdotes that are as enlightening as they are entertaining, he shares the crucial balance between vigilance on the open road and savoring the journey—advice that's not just for truckers but for anyone who's ever faced a long drive ahead.

But here's the thing about the trucking life—it's not all about the rubber meeting the road. It's about the silent stretches of solitude, the roadside revelations, and the camaraderie that develops over countless miles. Derrick and I delve into the strategies that transform a truck cabin into a sanctuary for mental health and the unexpected friendships formed over CB radio. We also get a peek under the hood of D&R Motivated Transportation, the company Derrick drives forward with his business partner, Richay From legal hurdles to the entrepreneurial spirit that fuels side hustles like Mary Kay, this episode is a testament to the connections and challenges of trucking life. So, rev up your engines and join us for a podcast journey that's about much more than the destination—it's about thriving in the driver's seat of life.

00:01:07.129 --> 00:01:15.667
But I'm gonna talk a little bit about, ask some questions as far as how being a commercial driver and giving some tips and stuff.

00:01:15.667 --> 00:01:17.808
But first let me tell you about my sponsor.

So let's get on with this show, derrick.

00:01:49.230 --> 00:01:50.978
So let me talk about your bio.

00:01:50.998 --> 00:01:58.498
let me so derrick brown, owner of dnr motivated transportation llc.

00:01:58.498 --> 00:01:59.439
I love that motivated.

00:01:59.439 --> 00:02:03.507
He's a husband, dad, paul, son, brother, friend.

00:02:03.507 --> 00:02:06.054
He loves being a personal car driver.

00:02:06.054 --> 00:02:10.230
It's been a dream since he was young, very young, a very young man.

00:02:10.230 --> 00:02:16.293
So he is happy to share his experience and expertise to anyone interested in connecting to the industry.

00:02:16.293 --> 00:02:22.771
So, derek, thank you so much for being on the podcast and sharing your journey.

00:02:23.171 --> 00:02:25.907
So let me ask you something Tell us about how you got into this into your journey.

00:02:25.907 --> 00:02:27.780
So let me ask you something Tell us about how you got into this into your journey.

00:02:29.126 --> 00:02:51.246
As you said previously, I've always loved the whole concept of truck driving since I was a little kid and I was actually, in my humble opinion, working a dead-end job at one point in time in my life, and it was always, again, a dream that I wanted to fulfill, and my wife at that particular time was like let's take a stab at it, go ahead and follow your dreams.

00:02:51.246 --> 00:03:06.724
So I ended up attending a truck driving school and it just progressed from there, and it's been a battle up and down, but it's worth it if it's truly something that you have a passion for and I am a truck driver.

00:03:07.187 --> 00:03:08.431
That's awesome.

00:03:08.431 --> 00:03:10.526
So how long have you been a truck driver?

00:03:12.140 --> 00:03:18.229
I started this journey in what is it 2018?

00:03:18.229 --> 00:03:19.830
Yeah, 2018.

00:03:20.292 --> 00:03:21.453
Okay, okay.

00:03:21.913 --> 00:03:22.153
Yeah.

00:03:22.875 --> 00:03:26.420
That's awesome, because that's actually when I retired from IBM in 2018.

00:03:26.420 --> 00:03:34.425
And I started my journey in doing our business Legal Shield full time, so yeah so that's awesome that we decided passion.

00:03:34.425 --> 00:03:37.545
I tell people, follow your passion.

00:03:37.727 --> 00:03:50.513
I'm still somewhat to some drivers maybe a little early in the game, but you're going to experience if you decide to follow this particular career path.

00:03:50.513 --> 00:03:52.212
You're going to experience a lot.

00:03:52.212 --> 00:04:02.737
It's a lot, there is a lot to it, but it can be very gratifying, very rewarding if you stick with it, because it has its highs and its lows.

00:04:06.180 --> 00:04:09.549
Yeah, and the traveling that you're doing all across the country, which is great, so let me ask you something.

00:04:09.549 --> 00:04:14.766
So what are some of the top safety tips every commercial driver should know?

00:04:15.788 --> 00:04:20.283
I would have to say, be very vigilant at watching everything.

00:04:20.283 --> 00:04:25.375
You have to be aware at all times, at all times.

00:04:25.375 --> 00:04:26.197
That's one thing.

00:04:26.197 --> 00:04:32.309
I can't stress that enough because it's always horrific.

00:04:32.309 --> 00:04:39.048
I know sometimes you see on the news or you may be traveling down the highways and you see these accidents and whatnot.

00:04:39.048 --> 00:04:45.891
It may be minor to a truck driver, but it's going to be very damaging to a smaller vehicle.

00:04:45.891 --> 00:04:47.101
So that's one.

00:04:47.101 --> 00:04:51.471
I want to stress that being mindful of your surroundings, starting with that.

00:04:51.471 --> 00:05:02.576
But I guess it just depends on what direction you want to go, whether or not you want to be a owner, operator, or if you just want to run for a company or what have you.

00:05:02.576 --> 00:05:06.108
It all depends on what avenue you choose to take them on.

00:05:08.283 --> 00:05:10.149
And you said you've been doing it since 2018.

00:05:10.149 --> 00:05:13.728
So you're learning all the ins and outs of the different.

00:05:14.310 --> 00:05:14.831
So that's, great.

00:05:15.360 --> 00:05:19.709
But how do you stay, how do you maintain a healthy lifestyle while you're on the road?

00:05:21.081 --> 00:05:25.002
That's a challenge Because you have so many.

00:05:25.002 --> 00:05:32.810
You have so many unhealthy places right there off of the highway, so you have to be mindful because other than that, you'll eat a lot of fried foods.

00:05:32.810 --> 00:05:44.713
There's a lot of fried foods, so I do a lot of walking when I shut down for the evening, or at times we might hit a gym up here and there where we can, one of the little fitness centers.

00:05:44.713 --> 00:05:47.509
But it's something that you have to stay mindful of.

00:05:47.509 --> 00:05:56.665
You have to be vigilant with it because, if not, them pounds jump on you because you're eating a lot of unhealthy foods, a lot of the food that we do eat.

00:05:56.665 --> 00:06:19.730
Now my wife, because she does ride with me we have set up a little system, for lack of a better term, in our semi, so she does a lot of cooking, so she prepares a lot of healthier foods for us, but and on the road readily accessible, it's a lot of fast food, so you have to just balance your intake of that stuff.

00:06:20.091 --> 00:06:23.766
So a lot of movement, a lot of movement.

00:06:24.148 --> 00:06:25.091
Yeah, and that's what I was.

00:06:25.091 --> 00:06:27.487
It's not just you on the road in the truck.

00:06:27.487 --> 00:06:28.605
Listen, I do the same thing.

00:06:28.605 --> 00:06:31.103
I'm like oh, there's Wendy's, let me get a burger.

00:06:31.125 --> 00:06:33.329
Yeah, yeah, and they're everywhere.

00:06:33.670 --> 00:06:34.130
Yeah, I know.

00:06:37.043 --> 00:06:46.083
Right there, off of the expressways or off the highways, you're going to see a Hardee's.

00:06:46.083 --> 00:06:47.468
Wendy's, burger King, mcdonald's, something along those lines.

00:06:47.468 --> 00:06:48.290
Yeah, you don't want to consume?

00:06:48.312 --> 00:06:51.502
that every day I remember Hardee's God they don't even have them here in Georgia anymore.

00:06:51.502 --> 00:06:52.646
I haven't seen any.

00:06:52.646 --> 00:06:53.689
I did like Hardee's.

00:06:53.728 --> 00:06:54.572
Yeah, yeah.

00:06:56.380 --> 00:06:57.745
So let me ask you another question.

00:06:57.745 --> 00:07:06.074
So what are some effective strategies for managing fatigue during the long haul, like how do you maintain not being tired, falling asleep?

00:07:07.403 --> 00:07:11.983
One I get proper rest Throughout my work week.

00:07:11.983 --> 00:07:37.310
What I do is a lot of times I don't stay up, I don't do a whole lot of watching television, I don't have a whole lot of idle time, so that when I can get enough rest for my next, my next journey, wherever it may take, I don't stretch myself out more than I can handle, and it just it'll vary from person to person, but I try not to drive over nine hours, nine and a half hours.

00:07:38.500 --> 00:07:40.829
What I can do within that nine, nine and a half hours.

00:07:40.829 --> 00:07:44.509
Yeah, and I did the proper amount of sleep.

00:07:45.281 --> 00:07:50.565
And that takes discipline, because my other guests they do, they do 11 hours each.

00:07:50.565 --> 00:07:51.735
I drive 11 hours.

00:07:53.259 --> 00:08:23.290
Yeah, and it'll vary from person to person, your limitations, but for me, just so that I know that I have enough time to unwind from what it is I'm doing on a daily, because, again, it's a constant there is no relaxing, for lack of a better term you can get out on a stretch of highway for a while and it'd be a lot of space between you and the next vehicle, but you're always having to be maintained and be aware, and so for that I just highly recommend a lot of rest, get enough, get proper rest.

00:08:23.973 --> 00:08:28.062
And another thing when driving, try not to eat a lot of heavy foods.

00:08:28.062 --> 00:08:34.403
I eat a lot of vegetables or fruits, yeah, because they don't weigh heavy on me and I'm not hungry.

00:08:34.403 --> 00:08:38.602
I don't eat a lot of snack foods, junk foods, the sugary foods.

00:08:38.602 --> 00:08:45.663
I don't do them because the sugar is a rush and when you're, when you crash on sugar, you'll find yourself sleeping.

00:08:45.663 --> 00:08:50.160
It may wake you up for a short period of time, but it's going to.

00:08:50.160 --> 00:08:51.965
Your body will crash after a period.

00:08:51.965 --> 00:08:57.118
So I don't drink a lot of sodas or sweet juices or anything like that.

00:08:57.118 --> 00:09:04.360
I try to stay as healthy as I possibly can with reference to the food and beverages that I take in Now.

00:09:04.360 --> 00:09:06.205
I drink a lot of coffee, though.

00:09:06.325 --> 00:09:10.539
I'll be the first to admit yeah, I drink a lot of coffee.

00:09:11.280 --> 00:09:17.953
That's good and you actually are maintaining a healthy lifestyle by what you do as far as your rest and eating properly.

00:09:18.434 --> 00:09:18.575
Yeah.

00:09:19.058 --> 00:09:20.695
You get that little fast food stuff there.

00:09:21.115 --> 00:09:24.403
Yeah, every now and then you slide in a little treat here and there.

00:09:24.462 --> 00:09:28.701
Yeah, that's right, exactly, I know Rache is with you.

00:09:28.701 --> 00:09:31.782
Rache is actually my Mary Kay girl, but how?

00:09:32.062 --> 00:09:32.945
Show your face, babe.

00:09:32.945 --> 00:09:34.347
Show your face.

00:09:34.347 --> 00:09:35.561
We're going to let you show your face.

00:09:35.561 --> 00:09:35.982
This is my-.

00:09:35.982 --> 00:09:39.940
Oh, let's see, that's my lovely wife Shea.

00:09:39.940 --> 00:09:40.541
That's great.

00:09:43.375 --> 00:09:45.842
I love it that she's traveling with you, but that is actually my-.

00:09:45.883 --> 00:09:46.003
Yeah.

00:09:46.203 --> 00:09:47.187
And so you're connected.

00:09:47.187 --> 00:09:48.922
That was my next question.

00:09:48.922 --> 00:09:52.745
How do you stay connected with your loved ones while on the road?

00:09:52.745 --> 00:09:55.841
How do you stay connected with your loved ones while on the road so you ride she rides with you, right?

00:09:56.061 --> 00:09:56.761
yeah, yes, she does.

00:09:56.761 --> 00:09:59.408
Now, when I initially started this, she didn't.

00:09:59.408 --> 00:10:04.249
Covid changed a lot of things for us as far as the brick and mortar, her.

00:10:04.249 --> 00:10:24.195
Thankfully, her job allows her to work from home, um, and so for that she's able to travel with me, but prior to it was difficult at times, because you have to have that relationship, I'll say you have to have that bond with whom you're with because you're going to spend some time away.

00:10:24.195 --> 00:10:33.926
Now you don't necessarily have to have the long haul and out like we are, because I, let's see when was the last time we were in Georgia?

00:10:33.926 --> 00:10:36.222
And I live in Atlanta, georgia.

00:10:36.222 --> 00:10:44.721
I haven't been in Georgia since the end of February, oh, wow, okay, and that's where all of my things are.

00:10:44.721 --> 00:10:48.313
But no, I wouldn't be able to do that if my wife weren't with me.

00:10:48.313 --> 00:10:51.104
She has been a great support, great support.

00:10:51.104 --> 00:10:56.461
You got to have a good support system, oh absolutely, absolutely, has been a great support, great support.

00:10:56.480 --> 00:10:57.504
You got to have a good support system.

00:10:57.504 --> 00:10:58.568
Oh, absolutely, yeah, you got to have.

00:10:58.589 --> 00:10:59.393
You got to have a great support system.

00:10:59.393 --> 00:10:59.995
So what about with the kids?

00:10:59.995 --> 00:11:01.017
How do you?

00:11:01.017 --> 00:11:02.681
Are they with you when you go on these?

00:11:02.980 --> 00:11:05.086
My seven-year-old Devin.

00:11:05.086 --> 00:11:07.296
He does ride with us to home school.

00:11:07.296 --> 00:11:09.499
However, my other kids, they're grown.

00:11:09.499 --> 00:11:14.024
So I have a 16 year old and he's in Atlanta.

00:11:14.024 --> 00:11:30.107
He lives with his sister, my middle daughter, and I would again, that's a part of my support If I didn't have a suitable place for my son, then my wife wouldn't be able to go when he was convenient for him to be able to stay with his sister and he could attend the school that he attends.

00:11:30.107 --> 00:11:35.303
And it was just everything fit together and it allowed her to get on the truck with me and ride with me.

00:11:35.403 --> 00:11:45.889
And we've been all over the united states and it's been very enjoyable because you can live with your spouse in the same house for years.

00:11:45.889 --> 00:11:47.717
But it's different when you're on the truck.

00:11:47.717 --> 00:11:49.782
And I say that it's different when you're on the truck.

00:11:49.782 --> 00:11:54.890
And I say that it's different when you're on the truck because you're in one room 24-7.

00:11:54.890 --> 00:12:08.841
So it's, you know, you build up even more, you know stronger relationship, in my humble opinion, because you get to know your spouse better and we've got to learn each other a lot better.

00:12:08.841 --> 00:12:11.823
Even it's just different, I don't know.

00:12:11.823 --> 00:12:13.660
It's been a nice journey.

00:12:14.515 --> 00:12:16.042
My wife is definitely my friend.

00:12:16.624 --> 00:12:17.086
She is my friend.

00:12:17.086 --> 00:12:17.687
That is awesome.

00:12:17.687 --> 00:12:21.085
It's funny because my other couple they're truck drivers.

00:12:21.085 --> 00:12:29.197
They actually went to school and Rache probably know her, but Cami actually went to school to be a truck driver, so she became a truck driver, but her husband actually did his job.

00:12:29.197 --> 00:12:31.859
So they're together and they said it's like a love story.

00:12:31.859 --> 00:12:33.600
They know each other.

00:12:33.660 --> 00:12:37.684
Oh, wow, yeah, it's awesome, it's awesome.

00:12:38.085 --> 00:12:46.072
Yeah, I'm so glad that you was able to come on, because I wanted to tell people it's not just one truck driver, the male, but also their wife, their other partner.

00:12:46.072 --> 00:12:54.178
They can actually do this too.

00:12:54.178 --> 00:12:58.075
Yeah, years ago I remember all truck drivers is actually just the male, so now there's a lot more female drivers, but now couples yes.

00:12:58.075 --> 00:13:00.783
That's what I love about being a couple and doing this.

00:13:00.783 --> 00:13:04.625
What are the pain points and struggles of being a commercial truck driver?

00:13:05.375 --> 00:13:14.668
Going back to what we were initially talking about the being away that sometimes miss things that you would have ordinarily attended, or you miss family.

00:13:14.668 --> 00:13:21.001
For instance, I don't see family as much as I used to, and it's not always a good season.

00:13:21.001 --> 00:13:24.136
The seasons aren't always good, and I'll say that.

00:13:24.136 --> 00:13:26.846
To say this again, you got to be ready for the highs and lows.

00:13:26.846 --> 00:13:30.258
The market fluctuates all the time, and so you just have to.

00:13:30.258 --> 00:13:32.664
You have to be ready for the transitions.

00:13:32.664 --> 00:13:33.206
That's all.

00:13:33.206 --> 00:13:34.721
It's always about preparation.

00:13:34.721 --> 00:13:39.826
You prepare yourself for today, dealing with today, but also for tomorrow.

00:13:39.826 --> 00:13:41.741
That's about the best way I can explain.

00:13:42.195 --> 00:13:57.581
One of our biggest pitfalls has been keeping up with our finances, because so much can come at you at one time, and it's just one of those situations where you just got to be mindful of your expenses because everything falls on you.

00:13:57.581 --> 00:14:06.999
So I just say, be mindful of the areas that you're operating in, keeping up with the market and fuel prices.

00:14:06.999 --> 00:14:14.131
Those are two of the most important issues that we've had to contend with this industry the market and fuel.

00:14:14.131 --> 00:14:17.104
Yeah, it's put a lot of companies out of business.

00:14:17.104 --> 00:14:24.544
So I think that's been two of our our issues that we've always had to keep in mind.

00:14:25.707 --> 00:14:26.909
Yeah, and that that's a good.

00:14:26.909 --> 00:14:34.072
That's a good start as far as the fuel, because the fuel prices are up and down and just trying to get that in an expense.

00:14:34.072 --> 00:14:37.769
Right so, but no, I appreciate you telling us about that.

00:14:37.769 --> 00:14:39.245
So what about commercial?

00:14:39.245 --> 00:14:42.485
How do you cope with stress and isolation during those extended trips?

00:14:42.485 --> 00:14:46.149
I know you say you do exercise and walking and-.

00:14:46.860 --> 00:14:49.187
Yeah, you have to get your me time.

00:14:49.187 --> 00:14:54.299
Still, you have to get your me time and that just to unwind, and that's what I was saying.

00:14:54.299 --> 00:15:00.961
I'll take a moment to myself and, if it's just in that, taking that walk around the the area that I'm in or what have you?

00:15:00.961 --> 00:15:05.011
Or sometimes we may pull off on the side there, especially in virginia.

00:15:05.011 --> 00:15:08.267
It's so beautiful in virginia and we can pull off.

00:15:08.267 --> 00:15:21.056
They have very various scenic routes that you can take and places where you can pull off and and we just take walks individually and collectively, just where you take your moment to decompress and unwind.

00:15:21.837 --> 00:15:22.340
That's great.

00:15:22.340 --> 00:15:26.470
I know you said you had LegalShield, which actually helps protect you.

00:15:26.470 --> 00:15:27.893
Tell us about that.

00:15:27.893 --> 00:15:30.307
You said you just had a situation with that, because I was actually Okay.

00:15:30.428 --> 00:15:32.307
Yeah, I was in the Carolina.

00:15:32.307 --> 00:15:33.182
I keep LegalShield.

00:15:33.182 --> 00:15:41.246
By the way, if you are a commercial truck driver, or even just a regular for any reason, legalshield is a good thing to have.

00:15:41.246 --> 00:15:44.500
It is a team of lawyers that are on standby at all times.

00:15:44.500 --> 00:15:45.923
That's what I can put.

00:15:46.283 --> 00:15:48.268
Well thank you.

00:15:48.268 --> 00:15:50.211
Yeah, I've had LegalShield for years.

00:15:50.211 --> 00:16:08.336
I was involved in an accident in the Carolinas in South Carolina, where a motorist and I do have dash cams, but the motorist was implying that I had cut them off and whatnot and they tried to take legal action against myself and my company.

00:16:08.336 --> 00:16:13.668
But legal shield stepped in from the onset and they took care of it for me.

00:16:13.668 --> 00:16:15.212
Yes, yes.

00:16:15.212 --> 00:16:16.381
That was again.

00:16:16.381 --> 00:16:19.106
It's a team of lawyers that are on standby at all times.

00:16:19.366 --> 00:16:21.191
Thank you, and it's peace of mind.

00:16:21.191 --> 00:16:22.011
It's peace of mind.

00:16:22.052 --> 00:16:23.455
Yes, it is, yes, it is.

00:16:23.659 --> 00:16:27.565
Even if you're in an accident, that 24 hour just tapping, and I hope you have that?

00:16:27.924 --> 00:16:28.325
That's it.

00:16:28.325 --> 00:16:28.865
Yes, I do.

00:16:28.865 --> 00:16:31.349
Yes, I do, yes, I do.

00:16:31.428 --> 00:16:34.111
On the phone to be able to talk to that officer.

00:16:34.111 --> 00:16:38.356
So, but no, that's great and thank you for being a member of Legal Share.

00:16:38.356 --> 00:16:45.948
Yeah, absolutely, so tell me a little bit.

00:16:45.969 --> 00:16:46.974
Tell me something about your.

00:16:46.974 --> 00:16:48.320
Dnr trucking company Tell us about I apologize, yeah, your car.

00:16:48.320 --> 00:16:50.623
I apologize, I didn't.

00:16:50.623 --> 00:16:53.248
I didn't get a chance to hear your question.

00:16:53.248 --> 00:16:56.714
My phone, the internet, was going in and out.

00:16:57.321 --> 00:17:00.126
Okay, so DNR Motivated Transportation.

00:17:00.126 --> 00:17:07.590
Tell us a little bit about the DNR Motivated Transportation DNR that's Derek and Rasheed, and we are motivated.

00:17:08.622 --> 00:17:09.605
We are motivated.

00:17:09.605 --> 00:17:15.351
We talked about various names, but this is something that we are.

00:17:15.351 --> 00:17:16.260
We have collaborated.

00:17:16.260 --> 00:17:16.862
My wife is.

00:17:16.862 --> 00:17:18.326
She is behind the scenes.

00:17:19.126 --> 00:17:26.849
It's good to have somebody on your team yeah yeah, she helps me out a lot on the as far as my books are concerned.

00:17:26.849 --> 00:17:30.925
She does a lot of trip planning for me.

00:17:30.925 --> 00:17:33.451
My wife, yes, my buddy, that's awesome.

00:17:33.451 --> 00:17:39.046
Yeah, and again, this is something because this wasn't my wife's dream, this is not what she wanted to do.

00:17:39.046 --> 00:17:46.369
She supported me all the way, but for her to be involved is in the capacity that she is today, she's like it's awesome.

00:17:46.369 --> 00:17:48.213
It's awesome, but did that?

00:17:48.213 --> 00:17:51.484
So we taught again, we tossed around various names and what have you.

00:17:51.484 --> 00:18:05.346
But when she got a little bit more involved and said okay, I'm going to go ahead and ride with you, I'm going to get on the truck with you and experience what you're experiencing, it became DNR motivated, derek and Rashe we're motivated.

00:18:05.507 --> 00:18:06.048
I love it.

00:18:06.048 --> 00:18:10.662
I love it, yeah, because my WD Pearson says that's for Wanda.

00:18:10.662 --> 00:18:12.242
Dennis Pearson, no shit.

00:18:12.242 --> 00:18:19.327
So having them have an access to be able to work with each other, that's really what matters.

00:18:19.327 --> 00:18:22.351
But no, definitely, yeah, I love it.

00:18:22.351 --> 00:18:25.873
I love what you're doing here, and I know Rache put a plug into her.

00:18:25.873 --> 00:18:30.936
She does Mary Kay as well, so she's next to me, wanda, you need anything.

00:18:30.977 --> 00:18:31.278
Yeah.

00:18:32.760 --> 00:18:37.960
I said yeah, and to be able to have that mobility where you can do it wherever you are and get it out there, I appreciate it.

00:18:38.220 --> 00:18:42.367
It will definitely bring out the entrepreneurial in you, yeah.

00:18:42.768 --> 00:18:43.108
Yeah.

00:18:43.209 --> 00:18:44.711
And she's yeah.

00:18:45.713 --> 00:18:48.960
Yeah, but you talk about the collaboration and the collaboration.

00:18:48.960 --> 00:19:00.684
That's actually why I created this podcast Ready Set Collaborate, because you never know who you're going to have to collaborate with.

00:19:00.684 --> 00:19:03.068
And even like networking, I'm sure you talk to people.

00:19:03.088 --> 00:19:05.352
So having access to that is so important.

00:19:05.352 --> 00:19:16.674
It's so fun because even in her profession, she's able to interact and meet people that would ordinarily be out of her spectrum because of the range or the distance between.

00:19:16.674 --> 00:19:19.848
So she's made a number of connections over the road.

00:19:19.848 --> 00:19:21.286
It's just been fantastic.

00:19:21.286 --> 00:19:24.468
You're going to have good and your bad, but it's been an awesome journey.

00:19:24.969 --> 00:19:25.369
That's great.

00:19:25.369 --> 00:19:26.271
It's been an awesome journey.

00:19:26.271 --> 00:19:37.169
Derek, I am so happy to hear I can just see the smile on your face that you're enjoying having your wife next to you when you go on these long hauls and even your son, the seven-year-old son.

00:19:37.169 --> 00:19:38.750
I can't believe he's seven.

00:19:38.750 --> 00:19:40.771
I remember when he was just one.

00:19:40.771 --> 00:19:41.992
I'm like oh, my God.

00:19:42.633 --> 00:19:46.896
Yeah, he's saying I'm going to tell you now, and that's been an issue too with my son.

00:19:46.896 --> 00:19:53.207
The kids think the little McDonald's Happy Meal type deal you have to be, you have to watch, I have to watch that too.

00:19:53.207 --> 00:19:56.039
So it's a lot that we contend with with reference to health.

00:19:56.039 --> 00:19:58.730
Health is a must in this profession.

00:19:58.730 --> 00:20:01.286
It is a must because you're sitting.

00:20:01.286 --> 00:20:10.667
You know you're moving because of the truck, but you're sitting all for hours on end and it's easy to snack when everybody's metabolism is different.

00:20:10.667 --> 00:20:14.872
But you can put some pounds on if you're not mindful because you're not moving.

00:20:14.872 --> 00:20:19.848
So again, I'm going to stress it yeah, definitely exercise, move around.

00:20:20.250 --> 00:20:22.253
Yeah, just move around and eat healthy.

00:20:22.253 --> 00:20:23.965
I appreciate that.

00:20:23.965 --> 00:20:27.590
How can people get in touch with you as far as you have your own company?

00:20:27.590 --> 00:20:29.182
Is there a way that they can get in touch?

00:20:29.182 --> 00:20:30.164
Okay, email.

00:20:30.244 --> 00:20:33.771
Yes, yes, my email is DNRmotivatedTransportation.

00:20:33.771 --> 00:20:39.412
I want to make certain because we have more than one.

00:20:39.412 --> 00:20:40.400
What did the company email?

00:20:40.400 --> 00:20:43.428
I got my secretary looking it up.

00:20:43.779 --> 00:20:45.326
She's getting everything together for me.

00:20:50.388 --> 00:20:55.867
That's right, my number is 404-565-3139.

00:20:55.867 --> 00:21:02.811
We normally book our loads through brokers, but it's not normally a if you need type service.

00:21:02.811 --> 00:21:10.173
But, if I can, if there's anybody listening or they may need to reach out for those services, please, by all means, please.

00:21:10.173 --> 00:21:18.267
Okay, okay, that's awesome, I enjoy that and that special plug and that special plug I got to do it for my wife and that special plug for you.

00:21:18.267 --> 00:21:30.068

00:21:35.852 --> 00:21:39.185

00:21:39.185 --> 00:21:41.631

Yeah, okay, all right, I enjoyed talking to you.

00:21:50.885 --> 00:21:51.748
This was awesome.

00:21:51.748 --> 00:21:52.912
This was awesome.

00:21:53.401 --> 00:21:55.066
Thank you for having me on.

00:21:55.567 --> 00:21:56.391
