00:01:04.689 --> 00:01:14.433
My guest, felicia Pollard, is here with me and I am so excited to have to actually talk to her about her topic, which is global change.

00:01:14.433 --> 00:01:17.466
That means a lot to what's going on in this world today.

00:01:17.466 --> 00:01:20.742
So, felicia, welcome to the Ready Set Collaborate podcast.

00:01:20.742 --> 00:01:22.525
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

00:01:22.525 --> 00:01:26.573
I'm very excited, yes, yes, I'm excited to have you here.

00:01:26.573 --> 00:01:31.173
Thank you for going on being on my show, so I should say podcast.

00:01:31.173 --> 00:01:36.668
So let me tell you a little bit about Felicia and then we're going to get a dive into some of these questions here.

00:01:36.668 --> 00:01:54.034
So me, felicia Pollard, author of Overcomer and transformative force in the beauty industry, with over 30 years of experience, a dedicated entrepreneur and educator, felicia has empowered countless individuals to embrace their inner confidence while enhancing their outward appearance.

00:01:54.034 --> 00:01:55.456
I love that, felicia.

00:01:55.456 --> 00:02:07.903
Her journey began at Dudley Beauty College, in continual partnerships alongside major names like Bronda Brothers, where she passionately shares her expertise in hair, skincare and wellness.

00:02:07.903 --> 00:02:18.812
Beyond beauty, felicia is a trusted media voice, frequently featured on shows like it's a Matter of Health and Global Change, connecting professionals worldwide.

00:02:18.812 --> 00:02:31.367
As the founder of BEFS and I got to ask you what that means here International and PNP Foundation for Change, she is committed to making a difference in mental health and homelessness.

00:02:31.367 --> 00:02:43.806
Currently pursuing a doctorate, felicia ensures I'm sorry, not ensures she inspires readers through her book Overcomers, sharing the tools and motivation to rise above his life challenges.

00:02:43.806 --> 00:02:52.349
Join us as we dive into our journey of resilience, faith and empowerment, because, felicia, overcoming is a way of life.

00:02:52.349 --> 00:02:54.003
I love that, felicia.

00:02:54.003 --> 00:03:03.531
Yes, overcoming, and we go through so many trials and tribulations and how we're going to do this, but I love how you said overcoming in the book that you have Overcoming is a way of life.

00:03:03.531 --> 00:03:04.192
That is so true.

00:03:04.192 --> 00:03:10.530
So, first of all, tell me what B-E-F-S means.

00:03:10.530 --> 00:03:28.075
B-e-f-s it actually means beauty, education, entertainment, fashion and services, and that is the first part of as I'm building, as I started building a brand and through my talents and what I do.

00:03:28.075 --> 00:03:41.489
That is the first one that came up and it just describes me so perfect because I hate to define myself as one of what I do.

00:03:41.489 --> 00:03:46.135
So that is it, and we want to make a difference in our community.

00:03:46.135 --> 00:03:48.524
Absolutely, I love that.

00:03:48.524 --> 00:03:49.445
I love that.

00:03:49.445 --> 00:03:55.772
Now I'm probably going to actually have you tell me what BEFF is so I can put it in the show notes again, but it does.

00:03:55.772 --> 00:04:01.483
Yeah, oh no, it's great because you're actually explaining everything that you're doing and the questions that we're going to be going through.

00:04:01.483 --> 00:04:03.591
So thank you so much for sharing that.

00:04:03.631 --> 00:04:09.228
So can you share a bit about your journey into entrepreneurship and what inspired you to take that leap?

00:04:09.228 --> 00:04:17.250
My journey into entrepreneurship started, expanded, over 35 years ago.

00:04:17.250 --> 00:04:20.420
I started in the beauty industry.

00:04:20.420 --> 00:04:46.737
I think just watching entrepreneurs in my community and in my parents it inspired me to reach for my own business and entrepreneur and that's when I started my beauty business and I actually started with Dudley Products, dudley Beauty Corp.

00:04:46.737 --> 00:04:49.023
I started back then.

00:04:49.023 --> 00:04:53.271
So it has been an amazing journey.

00:04:53.271 --> 00:05:20.165
I think I always have had the servitude spirit and that's how I love the hair and growing up watching my sitter do hair and family members and it just was an inspiration and an intriguing thing and now has become a gratifying thing when I can make a difference in someone's life.

00:05:20.165 --> 00:05:24.512
Awesome, and that really it puts it all in a nutshell.

00:05:24.512 --> 00:05:27.298
Awesome, and that really puts it all in a nutshell.

00:05:27.298 --> 00:05:32.903
Yeah, because at this point I do so much more to bring it all home, everything that I've experienced.

00:05:32.903 --> 00:05:44.093
I've created it to be a part of the business so that I can utilize my life experiences as testimonies to serve others.

00:05:44.093 --> 00:05:45.435
That's awesome.

00:05:45.875 --> 00:05:51.930
And were there any pivotal moments early in your career that shaped you to your path that you're doing now?

00:05:51.930 --> 00:05:53.322
Absolutely.

00:05:53.322 --> 00:06:02.343
There were so many pivotal points from just growing up, because I had so many struggles in my life.

00:06:02.343 --> 00:06:19.908
Not sure if you saw, but I had a first book that came out from prison to power, to peace, turning my setbacks into comebacks, and that was a journey for me all by itself just trying to find out who I was within myself through that journey.

00:06:19.908 --> 00:06:26.255
And just a little bit about the story I was born one pound and I had a delay.

00:06:26.819 --> 00:06:35.634
Students said that I had what was called slow learning and reading disability and they created the acronym SLRD.

00:06:35.634 --> 00:06:42.209
So you see, I've used acronyms because I'm going to change that negative into a positive for me.

00:06:42.209 --> 00:06:56.079
That was a journey for me and I learned as I grew up that I actually was a little more unique than they were used to and they put me in a category.

00:06:56.079 --> 00:07:11.334
So I have spent my life just trying to push through and excel beyond what I was labeled and defined to be.

00:07:11.334 --> 00:07:22.355
So that is no longer something that will define who I am or who I want my legacy, what I want my legacy to be.

00:07:22.355 --> 00:07:26.389
I love that and I didn't even know that about you as far as that.

00:07:26.389 --> 00:07:26.841
But I know.

00:07:26.841 --> 00:07:27.944
We're both from Illinois.

00:07:27.944 --> 00:07:34.386
You know Absolutely and I can attest to some of your story because I went to some of the Cook County Hospital, saved my life.

00:07:34.406 --> 00:07:35.369
That's all I can say.

00:07:37.100 --> 00:07:38.966
I was born at Cook County Hospital as well.

00:07:38.966 --> 00:07:40.031
It's so funny.

00:07:40.031 --> 00:07:41.786
You got a lot to share.

00:07:41.786 --> 00:07:44.826
You got a lot to educate a lot of people.

00:07:44.826 --> 00:07:53.170
So what advice would you give someone looking to start their own business today that you want to be in business in, or whatever it is that you want to do?

00:07:53.170 --> 00:08:10.024
Learn the craft of it.

00:08:10.024 --> 00:08:21.992
Study it so that you do not have to depend on others for your success in your business and you can know exactly the ins and outs.

00:08:21.992 --> 00:08:36.394
And if everybody walks out the door of your business, you can still make it and your business is not determined based on what everybody else have to offer your business.

00:08:36.394 --> 00:08:37.621
Opposed to.

00:08:37.621 --> 00:08:41.991
You're offering other people opportunities in your business.

00:08:41.991 --> 00:08:43.501
I hope that makes sense.

00:08:43.501 --> 00:08:44.284
It makes sense.

00:08:44.284 --> 00:08:45.489
I couldn't have said it better myself.

00:08:45.489 --> 00:08:48.450
It really does make sense and I appreciate you sharing it.

00:08:49.010 --> 00:08:52.442
So let's switch about partnerships with Global Change.

00:08:52.442 --> 00:08:55.812
So you've been involved in partnerships focused on global change.

00:08:55.812 --> 00:08:58.990
Can you share some of the initiatives you've been part of?

00:08:58.990 --> 00:09:03.364
Absolutely Through Global Change.

00:09:03.803 --> 00:09:12.865
It started off to just be a radio show and because I am a networker, they call me the connector.

00:09:12.865 --> 00:09:40.153
I'm going to always connect somebody with somebody else and you just never know, through your path, the difference that you'll make in somebody's life through your path, the difference that you're making somebody's life and just being able to network and share with other entrepreneurs how, where they see change and how do we see it globally, opposed to just in our urban areas or in our neighborhood or in our community.

00:09:40.153 --> 00:09:42.683
Where do we see it globally?

00:09:42.683 --> 00:09:49.394
And I tend to gravitate to entrepreneurs because with like minds, we're building, we're growing.

00:09:49.394 --> 00:10:06.174
We know that you have to have something inside of you to push you every day, Because if not, you're not going to make it, and so like-minded need to stay together to push each other, with that understanding and what they say overstanding.

00:10:06.174 --> 00:10:26.605
So I'm so grateful for that opportunity to be able to partner with entrepreneurs of all sorts all over the world to just expand our growth and show that community can work together and community can grow.

00:10:26.605 --> 00:10:27.927
I love it.

00:10:27.947 --> 00:10:28.850
We can bring change.

00:10:29.511 --> 00:10:31.005
Yeah, and that's yeah, that is change.

00:10:31.005 --> 00:10:35.572
So what I love about it is that when I met you, what three years ago, yes.

00:10:35.740 --> 00:10:51.649
And we both we're so much alike yes, as we talk, and I'm like God she's speaking what I want to say, but we're so much alike and we're both Scorpios, so we just clicked in the beginning from that and I love what you're doing because I am a person and I'm a social worker.

00:10:51.649 --> 00:10:53.750
I worked in corporate but I still that social work.

00:10:53.750 --> 00:10:54.750
I love to connect.

00:10:54.750 --> 00:10:56.452
They call me the networking queen.

00:10:56.452 --> 00:11:01.576
Yes, ma'am, networking, always connecting people, especially when I start talking.

00:11:01.576 --> 00:11:03.945
I think I can connect her with that.

00:11:03.945 --> 00:11:04.850
Yeah, I'm going to have her on my podcast.

00:11:04.850 --> 00:11:06.259
That's why I want you to be on my podcast.

00:11:06.821 --> 00:11:08.504
Yeah, you do that well for me.

00:11:08.504 --> 00:11:11.552
You have been a blessing in my life and I honor you for that.

00:11:11.552 --> 00:11:12.621
Thank you so much.

00:11:12.621 --> 00:11:13.625
Thank you so much.

00:11:13.625 --> 00:11:19.409
So what does creating global impact mean to you and how do you ensure that your work aligns with those values?

00:11:19.409 --> 00:11:41.610
When you talk about creating, I expanded it and we're honored that P&P Foundation for Change has been birthed, and that is our nonprofit organization, where we are out here making a global change in the community, engaging, empowering and inspiring beauty, mind and body.

00:11:41.610 --> 00:12:02.806
Inspiring beauty, mind and body and we're helping people through entrepreneurship, expressive arts, therapy all type of resources that I have built throughout my journey as working.

00:12:02.826 --> 00:12:11.993
The beauty industry can take you in so many different areas and that's why I'm so grateful for where we're going this year, 2025.

00:12:11.993 --> 00:12:33.293
I have my doctorate degree and we're excited because now I can show a deeper sense of where it is, because the beauty is not only from the outside, but it's from the inside, and we have to understand where that is going and where we are growing in life and how it all works together.

00:12:33.293 --> 00:13:01.735
So that is how I began to work not only for the beauty on the outside, but the beauty on the inside helping people with mental health, helping people understand how health, how nutrition, how everything that we put in our mouth affects everything and we all have to learn what it is and create a true balance of a harmony within our lives.

00:13:01.735 --> 00:13:02.922
Harmony within our lives.

00:13:02.922 --> 00:13:18.514
So that is what I'm excited about, because I get to be me in all areas and still serve and help others not go through as much as I went through, especially in all areas.

00:13:18.514 --> 00:13:30.995
Just help people not to experience and to know how some of my mistakes they don't have to make Absolutely, and that's great really.

00:13:30.995 --> 00:13:34.778
And I'm going to talk to you about your book To the Overcomer, because you are an overcomer.

00:13:35.080 --> 00:13:39.333
So how can small businesses take steps towards contributing to global change?

00:13:39.333 --> 00:13:51.186
Small businesses, they can reach out to me, we can, they can partner with me and we can really move to create this movement.

00:13:51.186 --> 00:13:57.142
Because the global change is just that we are actually making the difference.

00:13:57.142 --> 00:13:59.557
We're walking the walk and talking the talk.

00:13:59.557 --> 00:14:07.440
We're not no longer just wishing and wondering, we're actually moving and we're making a difference.

00:14:07.440 --> 00:14:21.490
And again, I know that when community comes together, when entrepreneurs come together, we can change the world, because we touch so many people in so many different areas.

00:14:21.490 --> 00:14:24.841
Just being an entrepreneur with you helped me grow.

00:14:24.841 --> 00:14:34.653
It's an amazing opportunity to be able to be a part of just growing with you, because this is global change right here.

00:14:34.653 --> 00:14:38.642
So I'm excited to continue to grow.

00:14:38.642 --> 00:14:43.225
I'm excited for anyone that wants to be a part of what we're doing.

00:14:43.225 --> 00:14:45.871
I'm just excited and I love that.

00:14:45.871 --> 00:14:48.456
I love what you're saying there, because helping each other and I love that.

00:14:48.456 --> 00:14:52.342
I love what you're saying there because helping each other I always say collaboration is the key to success.

00:14:52.884 --> 00:15:08.371
Absolutely, us businesses working together to not fight over oh I do that business, I do that business or I do the same business but bringing it all together to make that global change makes a big difference and in our industry, especially now it's 2025.

00:15:08.371 --> 00:15:09.769
Absolutely, it's time to really start working together.

00:15:09.769 --> 00:15:15.094
And I always say and I keep telling Dennis this because he told me this years ago action speaks louder than words.

00:15:15.094 --> 00:15:18.513
I have to remind him sometimes remember, action speaks louder than a word.

00:15:18.513 --> 00:15:23.313
You say that, but the actions of what you show or what you can do is really what matters.

00:15:23.313 --> 00:15:24.196
Absolutely.

00:15:24.196 --> 00:15:27.202
And we are all pieces of a puzzle.

00:15:27.202 --> 00:15:31.200
Absolutely, that's what we have to recognize that everybody is a piece.

00:15:31.200 --> 00:15:38.400
And I think if we can recognize that then the competition stuff will fall by the wayside.

00:15:38.400 --> 00:15:40.284
Absolutely, that is so good.

00:15:40.284 --> 00:15:42.056
So you got so many different avenues.

00:15:42.410 --> 00:15:45.450
Let's talk about Browner Brothers, and I love Browner Brothers.

00:15:45.570 --> 00:15:47.475
I didn't know you was part of Browner Brothers.

00:15:47.475 --> 00:15:49.162
Absolutely, absolutely.

00:15:49.162 --> 00:16:12.831
I used to go to those other shows I'd still, because I am an inspirational dancer ballet Martin.

00:16:12.831 --> 00:16:16.138
I started on their talent stage first.

00:16:16.138 --> 00:16:33.360
I started on their talent stage and I was performing for their entertainment and they realized that I was a cosmetology instructor and they realized that I was a cosmetology instructor and I was in the industry for over 10 years at that time.

00:16:33.360 --> 00:16:36.562
So for me that's how it started.

00:16:36.643 --> 00:16:42.248
And then I became one of Warner Brothers, their educators.

00:16:42.248 --> 00:16:49.230
I was one of their educators and that opened the door for me in so many different ways I can't describe.

00:16:49.230 --> 00:17:04.162
And that is one reason why I try to, you know, really pay it forward in the industry, because so many people have pulled me up and put me in the right places to spread my wings.

00:17:04.162 --> 00:17:05.903
So I'm just very grateful.

00:17:05.903 --> 00:17:33.996
And had it not been for Brawner Brothers, then I know I probably it wouldn't have moved me into as an educator or creative artist for them, because I was actually an artist for Brawner Brothers first, but I was actually doing so many different things, so I'm very great, I'm very, you know and I forgot about Dudley.

00:17:34.036 --> 00:17:36.942
Yeah, so Dudley yeah, even though Mr Dudley.

00:17:37.282 --> 00:17:56.185
He planted that seed well before I actually started in the beauty industry, but it came right back around full circle after dealing with Bronner brothers and being in that energy and atmosphere and just is still a part of my family.

00:17:56.185 --> 00:17:59.780
So I'm grateful for both Bronner Brothers and Dudley.

00:17:59.780 --> 00:18:01.012
That's great.

00:18:01.012 --> 00:18:01.615
That's great.

00:18:01.615 --> 00:18:06.510
I really you definitely an overcomer, absolutely, absolutely.

00:18:06.510 --> 00:18:38.916
So what do you think sets Browner Brothers apart as a difference and wanted to really lay a hand to help people in this industry, and they did an amazing job.

00:18:38.916 --> 00:18:41.082
Yeah, I did all that.

00:18:41.082 --> 00:18:41.963
They really did.

00:18:42.170 --> 00:18:59.838
But how do you see the beauty industry evolving in the next few years, especially with brands like Bronda Brothers leading the charge in the next few years, especially with brands like Bronda Brothers leading the charge Right now, as a cosmetology instructor and being in the beauty schools and just being on the professional side as well as the student side, it's expanding.

00:18:59.838 --> 00:19:01.942
I see it expanding.

00:19:01.942 --> 00:19:09.483
I see the beauty industry moving in a way that a lot of people weren't expecting.

00:19:09.483 --> 00:19:19.880
But through the pandemic and the new generation that's out here, you have to meet them where they are and you've got to move to another level.

00:19:19.880 --> 00:19:30.979
And because the cosmetology industry is such a wide industry that there are places that a lot of cosmetologists have not even tapped into.

00:19:30.979 --> 00:19:45.361
That is an open door for them and, like I said, understanding more of the internal side, learning what's happening inside and how it's affecting the outside of your hair, is going to make a difference.

00:19:45.361 --> 00:20:24.452
Knowing about hair care, understanding products, understanding the technical information that you need to have in this beauty industry is going to be super important, because they have so many devices, so many things that are out here that if you blink you can miss it and you have to keep what they say, keep your ear to the street and always be in a relevant place where you can always continue to grow, because once you, mr Dudley, always say, if you're comfortable you're not growing, it's when you're uncomfortable you're growing.

00:20:24.492 --> 00:20:33.852
So I want to leave you with that, because that's super important and we have to understand that we have to constantly grow Every day.

00:20:33.852 --> 00:20:35.997
We must learn something Every day.

00:20:35.997 --> 00:20:37.421
I love that.

00:20:37.421 --> 00:20:41.280
I love that we're winding down, but first I want to talk about your book, the Overcomer.

00:20:41.280 --> 00:20:44.955
The book is titled the Overcomer what inspired you to write it?

00:20:44.955 --> 00:20:47.914
And the title is powerful.

00:20:47.914 --> 00:20:50.374
Along we talk about the overcomer.

00:20:50.374 --> 00:20:55.778
Can you share what overcoming means to you and how it's reflected in your personal journey.

00:20:55.778 --> 00:20:57.702
I know I just provided it.

00:20:58.631 --> 00:20:59.590
This is that time.

00:20:59.590 --> 00:21:09.376
This is that time of change, the time of actually moving to that next level, of actually moving to that next level.

00:21:09.376 --> 00:21:37.000
And for me overcomer, I've been through so much, like I said, from birth, and it's very difficult when you're not clear on your true direction and when you have such a uniqueness people around you really do not understand, and so you have so many intentions, expectations and everything that's laid on your life.

00:21:37.000 --> 00:22:08.044
And for me, going back and knowing that it was God that pulled me through so much or all of what I've been through, and the inspiration around the overcomer was the final thing from, was this last thing for me, let's say it like that overcoming cancer in my legs, such a rare situation that the doctors did not know what to do.

00:22:08.044 --> 00:22:14.652
Situation that the doctors did not know what to do.

00:22:14.652 --> 00:22:23.874
They actually had to study and had to do plenty of research to know the direction that they were going to do to support me, because it wasn't something that they looked at all the time.

00:22:23.874 --> 00:22:44.594
So for me, when I go back and think, 56 years and all the things that I had to overcome, and they not even expecting me to walk again, nor neither be at the place that I am right now.

00:22:44.594 --> 00:23:04.042
At the place that I am right now is only grace and it's only the inner strength and, as the doctor said, it's the resilience that allowed me to overcome.

00:23:04.042 --> 00:23:16.367
And so I decided to create this overcomer because, through everything that was thrown my way, I have been able to overcome it.

00:23:16.367 --> 00:23:22.205
Was it easy?

00:23:22.205 --> 00:23:23.049
Absolutely not.

00:23:23.049 --> 00:23:24.269
Did I think I could do it at the beginning?

00:23:24.269 --> 00:23:25.049
Absolutely not.

00:23:25.049 --> 00:23:37.653
But I'm grateful that I'm here because, as long as I kept moving, I can honestly say I'm an overcomer with resilience, changing negative things to positive.

00:23:37.653 --> 00:23:40.894
So I'm so excited for that.

00:23:40.894 --> 00:24:00.441
I have a whole hospital waiting on the book, so it keeps me inspired to, no matter how hard it gets, to keep going and keep moving, because you never know who and how you make a difference in someone's life.

00:24:00.441 --> 00:24:11.104
But I knew that I wanted to do it with grace, so that the testimony can be strong enough to make a difference in someone's life.

00:24:11.104 --> 00:24:22.347
And that is where the overcomer, with resilience, changing from a negative to a positive, came from.

00:24:22.347 --> 00:24:22.928
I love it.

00:24:22.928 --> 00:24:24.448
I love it and we are winding down.

00:24:24.468 --> 00:24:27.769
But how has writing and sharing your story impacted your life and business?

00:24:27.769 --> 00:24:41.048
And I think you already said some of those things in there as well, but as far as your business bringing it into life, it allowed me at this point to know that I didn't have to diminish who I was.

00:24:41.048 --> 00:24:54.244
In my business I can create what I needed to be for me and it to be acceptable and needed in this business industry.

00:24:54.244 --> 00:24:57.614
And it took me a long time to get to this place.

00:24:57.614 --> 00:25:13.445
But at this point I'm very grateful and I look forward to just seeing how much more we do because we running for our life with this entrepreneurship, this business.

00:25:13.445 --> 00:25:34.213
It's so many areas of the business that we didn't tap into, but I look forward to coming back and sharing with you so many different aspects because we have so many tools, so many different areas that we're helping, that we're supporting, that we're actually making a difference in our community.

00:25:34.213 --> 00:25:36.137
Thank you so much.

00:25:36.137 --> 00:25:37.260
I love that.

00:25:37.260 --> 00:25:41.276
I love it because you really just really put it in a nutshell and real quick.

00:25:41.557 --> 00:25:50.412
What advice would you have for others who may be struggling to overcome obstacles in their lives when they start the negativity and start feeling sorry for themselves?

00:25:50.412 --> 00:25:52.663
And you just said you got to turn the negative to positive.

00:25:52.663 --> 00:26:18.044
So what if there's so many different things that I want to say the advice that I would give someone is to don't listen to the naysayers and when people tell you no, and when people tell you what you can't, don't stop right there, because if it's in your heart, if it's in your spirit, if God has given it to you, if he showed it to you, then you can do it.

00:26:18.044 --> 00:26:20.337
If you see it, you can be it.

00:26:20.337 --> 00:26:21.755
That is what I say.

00:26:21.755 --> 00:26:23.455
And seek out help.

00:26:23.455 --> 00:26:25.336
Don't feel bad.

00:26:25.336 --> 00:26:43.241
You feel that you need support, overcoming you can, because when you don't know what to do, you can go.

00:26:43.241 --> 00:26:54.588
There are counselors, there are pastors and there are people like me that are coaches that will support you, that will help you.

00:26:54.588 --> 00:27:17.911
I've shared with you many times that God has blessed me with a device that I can now share and help my clients understand exactly or identify with some things that they can overcome aspects, some ways that we can move through and some coaching to make it happen.

00:27:17.911 --> 00:27:32.691
So, even with the 90 day change series that we're working on, it's so powerful, it's so many different aspects that we can do but don't give up, don't quit, don't quit.

00:27:32.691 --> 00:27:34.897
I'm looking around because I love that.

00:27:34.917 --> 00:27:36.082
Dennis and I were talking about that.

00:27:36.082 --> 00:27:40.180
I had a little chain, key chain that says don't quit, don't quit.

00:27:40.180 --> 00:27:40.922
And I had.

00:27:40.922 --> 00:27:42.827
Actually, I put it on my Facebook page.

00:27:42.827 --> 00:27:43.611
I talked about that.

00:27:43.611 --> 00:27:48.607
It's just something that went through my feed and yeah, never quit, because you know what?

00:27:48.607 --> 00:27:53.972
And my favorite verse when I left corporate was Jeremiah 29, 11.

00:27:53.972 --> 00:28:01.886
God has a plan for you, plans for you to prosper.

00:28:01.886 --> 00:28:04.453
Not to give up, but to give you hope in the future.

00:28:04.453 --> 00:28:09.627
That verse has been my inspiration ever since I left IBM and started getting into entrepreneurship, so it really does make a difference.

00:28:09.688 --> 00:28:13.988
Don't quit into something that you have a passion in, knowing that this is what you want to do.

00:28:13.988 --> 00:28:23.213
You just need to get around the positive people that actually can say, yeah, you can do it, because you got a lot of naysayers, negativity, leave that alone.

00:28:23.213 --> 00:28:26.247
This is a new year, 2025.

00:28:26.247 --> 00:28:30.222
2025 is time for you to shine, absolutely and definitely.

00:28:30.222 --> 00:28:31.226
Like you said.

00:28:31.226 --> 00:28:35.623
I want to ditto that, that you definitely can't be around the negative.

00:28:35.623 --> 00:28:38.028
You have to stay into the positive.

00:28:38.028 --> 00:28:39.132
That's the number one.

00:28:39.132 --> 00:28:40.705
That's what drives me.

00:28:40.705 --> 00:28:43.348
That's what people say.

00:28:43.348 --> 00:28:50.652
When the negative come, you see my back Because I can be in a conversation.

00:28:50.652 --> 00:28:52.006
Negative come, I'm gone.

00:28:52.006 --> 00:28:55.864
You looking around, you don't see me at all Because I'm gone.

00:28:55.864 --> 00:28:59.490
I know I realized when we were on the cruise the ship.

00:28:59.490 --> 00:29:03.807
I said where did Felicia go?

00:29:03.807 --> 00:29:04.788
I'm gone.

00:29:04.909 --> 00:29:11.523
I had to learn how to protect myself and to protect my mental health, and so that is the number one thing.

00:29:11.523 --> 00:29:24.006
Every one and four out of every person is dealing with it and we have to know the aspects of what we have and what we're dealing with and know how to take self-care.

00:29:24.006 --> 00:29:35.064
And through life and through journey, I can have let people that told me what I could not do and that I wouldn't be here today stop me.

00:29:35.064 --> 00:29:37.724
But Today stopped me.

00:29:37.724 --> 00:29:52.852
But having positive people in my area, in my surroundings, in my community as a support and having a great support is what helps you to move to the next level Absolutely.

00:29:52.852 --> 00:29:54.512
And, like I said, we are so much alike.

00:29:54.512 --> 00:29:58.914
I remember I was told you're not going to be nothing, you'll never be nothing.

00:29:58.914 --> 00:30:02.817
So look at us now, look where we are now, look what we're doing.

00:30:03.257 --> 00:30:33.634
You know, I was told I could play, yeah yeah, I was told I messed up my life a long God to have allowed me to go through something so traumatic in so many different areas and to be able to come out of it on the other side and be able to be a blessing or support someone else, to know that if I could do it, so can you.

00:30:33.634 --> 00:30:35.584
Yes, absolutely.

00:30:35.584 --> 00:30:35.844
So.

00:30:35.844 --> 00:30:38.771
We are definitely getting down here, but there's your legacy.

00:30:38.771 --> 00:30:44.018
Looking back, what legacy do you hope to leave as an entrepreneur and a change maker?

00:30:44.018 --> 00:30:47.705
And also, how can people get your Overcomer book the legacy?

00:30:47.705 --> 00:31:08.550
The legacy is it was a legacy left for me, for my grandfather and our family and watching our family just grow into be entrepreneurs and know that if you work hard, you can be and do whatever it is that you want to be.

00:31:08.550 --> 00:31:22.163
I guess what I would leave is never give up and know that you can change from a negative to a positive in any aspect or instance and nothing that you go through has to be the end.

00:31:22.163 --> 00:31:30.782
And if you believe in what you want to be and to do as an entrepreneur, you can do it.

00:31:30.782 --> 00:31:54.465
You can do it Because I think it's all the way back from my great grandmother as an entrepreneur for me and, just being an example, to say that if she can push forward with all that is against her on a constant basis, then so can we, because I'm not going to stop.

00:31:54.465 --> 00:31:56.001
Absolutely.

00:31:56.001 --> 00:31:58.470
I love that and I love that ending there.

00:31:58.539 --> 00:32:03.856
So how can our audience connect with you and support your work with global change?

00:32:03.856 --> 00:32:17.923
Absolutely, you can actually go on PP Foundation for Change on our Facebook, on Instagram, you can reach out to me on Instagram.

00:32:17.923 --> 00:32:19.185

00:32:38.632 --> 00:32:39.913
Will that work too?

00:32:39.913 --> 00:32:49.146
Yeah, I'm going to get all that from you to put in our show notes as well, okay, this way they can actually look at the show notes and all of your information to be in there.

00:32:49.207 --> 00:32:52.708
Okay, well, that'll work, yeah, yeah.

00:32:52.839 --> 00:32:56.009
So, any kind of way that you have, we're here.

00:32:56.009 --> 00:33:00.731
I look forward to helping and working with anyone that is in need.

00:33:00.731 --> 00:33:05.912
Wanda, we are so very grateful for the opportunity to be on your show.

00:33:05.912 --> 00:33:11.648
We're going to bring you over to global change and I'm just excited for the opportunity.

00:33:11.648 --> 00:33:14.046
We're moving and shaking 2025.

00:33:14.207 --> 00:33:15.329
We started off right.

00:33:16.760 --> 00:33:21.201
You got me on the podcast yes, exactly.

00:33:21.201 --> 00:33:22.002
So I'm excited to have you.

00:33:22.002 --> 00:33:22.625
You got so much to share.

00:33:22.625 --> 00:33:26.683
We're definitely going to have you back on later on to give us a depth of where you are.

00:33:26.683 --> 00:33:27.205
Yeah.

00:33:27.366 --> 00:33:39.147
And I would love to do some demonstrations, share some other things and just go to another level, because there's so much that we can share and help with and I don't want to bombard at one time.

00:33:39.147 --> 00:33:41.807
Absolutely, absolutely, yeah, so say some of this stuff.

00:33:41.807 --> 00:33:45.506
I still had a lot more questions to ask you, so we got another half.

00:33:45.767 --> 00:33:46.086
That's right.

00:33:46.086 --> 00:33:47.780
We got another podcast to do, ma'am.

00:33:47.780 --> 00:33:49.867
Yes, ma'am, I'll be with you all year.

00:33:49.867 --> 00:33:51.421
Oh, absolutely.

00:33:51.421 --> 00:33:55.306
Thank you so much, felicia, for being on the Ready Set Collaborate podcast.

00:33:55.306 --> 00:34:04.796
I truly appreciate your inspiration and your journey, your entrepreneur journey and especially the overcomer you have overcome so much and I think about myself.

00:34:04.796 --> 00:34:07.002
I'm like God.

00:34:07.002 --> 00:34:11.041
She's talking about my story, with things that not all the Bronner brothers and all that, but just and yet.

00:34:11.041 --> 00:34:16.967
My book is God's Grace Through the Fire, from Struggle to Triumph, how I struggled from God gave me grace and how I was able to survive.

00:34:16.967 --> 00:34:21.161
But thanks so much for being on the podcast Audience.

00:34:21.161 --> 00:34:24.711
