Welcome to the Ready Set Collaborate podcast with Wanda Pearson and my guest, shaina Russell.

00:00:59.262 --> 00:01:03.040
I am so excited to have her here and I said, shaina, I'm going to have you on my podcast.

00:01:03.040 --> 00:01:10.182
So when I talk to people and see that's a good fit for us to be educated and learn stuff, this is where I get my grill on.

00:01:10.182 --> 00:01:12.387
So, shani, say hello to the audience.

00:01:13.087 --> 00:01:16.260
Hello everyone, it is a pleasure to be here.

00:01:16.260 --> 00:01:20.933
Thank you so much, ms Wanda, for inviting me, and I'm looking forward to our conversation.

00:01:21.480 --> 00:01:22.582
Absolutely, absolutely.

00:01:22.582 --> 00:01:23.344
It's a conversation.

00:01:23.344 --> 00:01:27.828
It's about educating and empowering people and letting them know what's available out there.

00:01:27.828 --> 00:01:29.144
So let's get right to the chase.

00:01:29.144 --> 00:01:33.328
I'm going to actually talk about Shaina's bio, doctor, I'm sorry.

00:01:33.450 --> 00:01:48.246
Dr Shaina is a dedicated mental health professional with over 20 years of experience in education and counseling as a licensed professional counselor, national certified counselor and approved clinical supervisor.

Beyond her clinical and educational work, dr Russell is the daughter of Cheryl and late Billy C Quinn Jr, wife of Russell Sr, mother of Shana, victoria and the late Ryan Russell and Gigi to Hassan.

00:02:47.126 --> 00:03:05.651
She is a member of American Council Association, aca, american School Council Association, asca, partners in Education, pie, american Business Women's Association, abwa, douglas County Chapter and Toastmasters of West Georgia.

She has been a lifelong member of New Covenant Missionary World Outreach Center and, for almost two decades, world of Faith Family Worship Cathedral.

00:03:15.066 --> 00:03:29.169
In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, exercising, watching HGTV and helping others grow personally and professionally exercising, watching hgtv and helping others grow personally and professionally.

00:03:29.450 --> 00:03:41.506
She holds a doctor's degree in counselor education and supervision from I would say, I didn't say that obviously university, a master's in counseling education from florida a&m university and a bachelor of science and business education, florida a&m university.

00:03:41.506 --> 00:03:44.951
Well, you got a lot of bachelor's and stuff you're doing.

00:03:44.951 --> 00:03:46.675
When do you have time for yourself?

00:03:46.675 --> 00:03:49.300
But this is very impressive.

00:03:49.300 --> 00:03:54.538
I am so proud of you, what you do and help the people in the community, because, I tell you, I'm a social worker.

00:03:54.719 --> 00:04:09.641
I don't have my master's in social work because I actually end up going to IBM, so I have my education at IBM, let's put it that way but I still did mentoring.

00:04:09.641 --> 00:04:13.554
Well, thorn Shine, I am so happy to have you on the podcast and it's a pleasure to really know what you do and know that's health out there, Because mental health is very important.

00:04:13.554 --> 00:04:16.122
We don't know about a lot of things that we keep to ourselves.

00:04:16.122 --> 00:04:21.682
Just like when I wrote my book, I didn't realize it was mental health that I actually held in.

00:04:21.682 --> 00:04:28.185
So when that happens, when you hold it in and then finally it's released, what do you do with clients that does that?

00:04:29.086 --> 00:04:30.630
That's where a lot of people are.

00:04:30.630 --> 00:04:34.670
We don't normally think about mental health every day.

00:04:34.670 --> 00:04:45.103
People focus on physical health Let me go get my physical this year but people don't take time to think about their overall mental well-being and it's something that we deal with every day.

00:04:45.103 --> 00:04:59.863
When we think about mental health, it impacts our relationships with others, how we show up for them, our family, our friends at work, how we respond to people in certain situations Just all around.

00:04:59.863 --> 00:05:06.834
Everything we do is based upon where we are mentally and a lot of times people do not see that in that form.

00:05:07.399 --> 00:05:16.625
I know there's a negative stigma related to mental health and sometimes people think mental health, you're going to be in a psych ward and things of that nature, and that's not it.

00:05:16.625 --> 00:05:18.406
That's like the extreme.

00:05:18.406 --> 00:05:32.221
And when I think about how I even chose mental health, I chose school counseling first because I had that negative stigma, like I didn't want to work in a mental hospital with people who were having those extremes.

00:05:32.221 --> 00:05:36.511
But stuff happens before it even gets to that point.

00:05:36.511 --> 00:05:37.752
How can we prevent that?

00:05:37.752 --> 00:05:50.471
So that is something that I want to continue to educate people on, to make sure that they're aware, because there's little things that can lead up to those big breakdowns and things that you didn't even know you were struggling with.

00:05:50.471 --> 00:06:01.975
And it started just a little thing oh, I'm tired today, or I'm a little irritable and moody and then it turns into something bigger later absolutely.

00:06:01.995 --> 00:06:02.718
You explained it well.

00:06:02.718 --> 00:06:10.928
I'm actually going to add, actually to tell us about the journey and becoming a mental health professional and why, and I remember writing my book.

00:06:10.928 --> 00:06:13.434
I wrote it but I did not know.

00:06:13.434 --> 00:06:16.271
So my daughters actually told me, mommy, you need to go see a therapist.

00:06:16.271 --> 00:06:17.779
What I need to see a therapist.

00:06:17.779 --> 00:06:25.009
Well, I don't need to see a therapist, and that's the thing when that we, as african-americans, as we grow up, that we don't need to see anybody.

00:06:25.009 --> 00:06:37.382
But actually that helped me to be able to complete my book and write, even though it was hard, because I pushed so much down inside my soul that I did not realize that was affecting me as far as my mental health as well.

00:06:37.382 --> 00:06:39.088
So thank you for saying that.

00:06:39.088 --> 00:06:42.762
So what inspired you to become a mental health culture therapist?

00:06:43.244 --> 00:06:43.764
For me.

00:06:43.764 --> 00:06:46.432
I got pushed into the mental health side.

00:06:46.432 --> 00:06:54.007
Like I said, when I was in my master's program they had two tracks, so it was a school counselor and auto-clinical mental health.

00:06:54.007 --> 00:06:55.271
I chose school.

00:06:55.271 --> 00:06:57.367
My undergrad was in business education.

00:06:57.367 --> 00:07:00.709
Then I can work with the students in school center.

00:07:00.709 --> 00:07:02.468
So let me go into school counseling.

00:07:02.939 --> 00:07:08.567
And when I was pursuing my doctorate degree, I had a professor, and thank God that he did.

00:07:08.567 --> 00:07:11.269
He pushed me and said you know a lot about school.

00:07:11.269 --> 00:07:15.290
We want you to get some experience because you never know where you're going to end up.

00:07:15.290 --> 00:07:27.379
And so he encouraged me to go to medical mental health and I ended up in an agency where I met a lot of great people Someone who is still my mentor today after all these years.

00:07:27.379 --> 00:07:31.932
But they introduced me and let me see different aspects of mental health.

00:07:31.932 --> 00:07:36.779
So it wasn't that I was working in like a psych ward or anything of that nature.

00:07:36.779 --> 00:07:40.451
So I got to experience it and that's how I ended up on this side.

00:07:40.579 --> 00:07:49.432
I didn't get licensed as a mental health counselor until 2019, but I was a school counselor since 2004.

00:07:49.432 --> 00:07:55.932
So I basically the training is the same, except the clinical experience was different.

00:07:55.932 --> 00:07:58.966
So I have been in the industry for a really long time.

00:07:58.966 --> 00:08:18.005
But focusing on the clinical side now is where I am and being in a school setting, seeing a lot of things that come with children and families and you're limited on what type of support you can provide to them because their main goal there is for education, so you're not really addressing those other concerns.

00:08:18.005 --> 00:08:31.170
So now that I'm on the other side, I have my private practice where I can help and focus more on those things that show up in the school setting or something that people never really want to talk about but they need support working through.

00:08:31.170 --> 00:08:34.144
So that's how I ended up in this space.

00:08:35.187 --> 00:08:37.592
That's awesome because I tell you they really need it.

00:08:37.592 --> 00:08:41.643
I do mentoring at the middle schools for middle school girls and a lot of things.

00:08:41.643 --> 00:08:45.111
You don't know what's going on at home that can affect them at school.

00:08:45.111 --> 00:08:50.613
So what you're doing, I applaud you for that because I tell you it definitely does take patience with doing that.

00:08:50.613 --> 00:08:54.822
I remember my college professor told me want to go back and get your master's in social work?

00:08:54.822 --> 00:08:56.922
I said no, want to go back and get your master's in social work.

00:08:56.922 --> 00:08:58.123
I said no, I want to go back and get that.

00:08:58.123 --> 00:09:03.325
But it's my life experiences that actually helped me to be able to share what I do today.

00:09:03.325 --> 00:09:05.485
So I am so proud of you.

00:09:05.485 --> 00:09:07.647
So what's the biggest lessons you learned in your journey?

00:09:08.407 --> 00:09:14.769
The biggest lessons I learned is more and, if you want to keep it aligned to like mental health.

00:09:14.769 --> 00:09:19.191
A lot of times, people are suffering in silence.

00:09:19.191 --> 00:09:28.254
They can look like everything is together and also not being aware of things that are happening that could impact you in a bigger way.

00:09:28.254 --> 00:09:38.438
You can be successfully running your business, or a CEO of a company doing really well, but struggling with how do I handle my own thoughts and emotions.

00:09:38.438 --> 00:09:44.543
I'm feeling overwhelmed.

00:09:44.543 --> 00:09:45.687
Do I have appropriate coping skills?

00:09:45.687 --> 00:09:48.618
I'm having challenges in my family, conflict with my husband or my children, just different things that can happen.

00:09:48.618 --> 00:09:51.746
That at some point in life you're going to deal with things like grief and loss.

00:09:51.746 --> 00:09:55.124
Everybody is going to experience that at some point.

00:09:55.124 --> 00:10:04.885
What are we doing with those things, and are we so in tune or we try to be so busy that we don't experience the loss and grief and then it shows up in other areas as well?

00:10:04.885 --> 00:10:06.770
So that's where I am on that.

00:10:07.500 --> 00:10:09.726
And that is so true because we're going to like.

00:10:09.726 --> 00:10:11.331
I just lost a niece about three weeks ago.

00:10:11.331 --> 00:10:16.292
She's only 38 years old and that's why I was talking about that was really hard to grieve.

00:10:16.292 --> 00:10:19.066
And then my brother died last year and we're still grieving that.

00:10:19.066 --> 00:10:25.311
So that is so true and we need you actually, with your profession, to help us with that.

00:10:25.311 --> 00:10:27.868
But a lot of us, like I said, are very leery of that.

00:10:27.868 --> 00:10:27.967
Yeah.

00:10:29.821 --> 00:10:34.961
And understanding that I think about educating our community Because in African-Americans we're like we pray.

00:10:34.961 --> 00:10:41.573
We I think about educating our community because in African-Americans we're like we pray, we're going to pray and we're also going to use the people that God has placed here to help us work through those things.

00:10:41.573 --> 00:11:00.751
And I think that was a big wake-up call for me too, because I'm a woman of faith and I lost my dad in 2019 to cancer and before that, a great friend who introduced me to my husband, and he was young, not even 40 years old, and married four kids and passed away from cancer.

00:11:00.751 --> 00:11:06.340
So that was like a big shocker for us, thinking, okay, why did God allow this to happen?

00:11:06.419 --> 00:11:33.722
But even being able to experience the grief and also understanding the grieving process because, okay, I'm a therapist, I know the grieving process, I know the five stages, the grieving process because, okay, I'm a therapist, I know the grieving process, I know the five stages but to actually work through those things and also knowing that it's not a time frame around when you're going to experience those things it can be a cycle, you can go back, but to ignore it and pretend that it's not something that's happened to you, that's where we fall into a lot of trouble.

00:11:33.722 --> 00:11:42.034
And so, dealing with that, yes, we're going to pray, but we're also going to use tools that are available to help us work through these times.

00:11:42.860 --> 00:11:44.023
Absolutely, absolutely.

00:11:44.023 --> 00:11:45.004
I love that what you said.

00:11:45.004 --> 00:11:48.312
So what are some of the common misconceptions about mental health and stress?

00:11:58.740 --> 00:11:59.241
had this thing right.

00:11:59.241 --> 00:12:04.059
One of the things is that therapy is only for people with serious mental illness, and that's what we talked about at first, but the truth is therapy is for everyone.

00:12:04.059 --> 00:12:10.633
It can help us with stress, relationships, life transitions and even personal growth.

00:12:10.633 --> 00:12:14.606
So it's not just about a diagnosis of a mental illness.

00:12:14.606 --> 00:12:18.495
It's about how are we dealing with life on a day-to-day basis.

00:12:18.495 --> 00:12:32.659
Another one that I wanted to, that I want to share, since you asked that question that mental health issues are a sign of weakness and that does not mean that you are a weak person.

00:12:32.659 --> 00:12:38.041
Actually, it takes strength to reach out for help, that you are a weak person.

00:12:38.041 --> 00:12:39.062
Actually, it takes strength to reach out for help.

00:12:39.062 --> 00:12:41.107
And again, it goes back to showing that, okay, I cannot do this alone.

00:12:41.107 --> 00:12:46.784
Let me use my tools and resources to help me work through it, and it takes a lot for people to do that.

00:12:48.707 --> 00:13:01.807
Something else is children and teens don't experience mental health issues and with that, when we think about it, children start to have issues.

00:13:01.807 --> 00:13:12.322
They can have issues early on Family going through a divorce, if they lost someone, if they have to move, if something happens that they don't understand who's talking to them.

00:13:12.322 --> 00:13:15.596
They're learning how to deal with life issues early on.

00:13:15.596 --> 00:13:21.692
And sometimes we just think they're kids and they're not being impacted by these things, when they really are.

00:13:21.692 --> 00:13:33.062
So, again, children and teenagers they are experiencing and they got a lot of stressors that we didn't have when I was growing up, with social media and the influence and how they're feeling about themselves.

00:13:33.062 --> 00:13:37.173
So all of those things impact the children and teens as well.

00:13:38.720 --> 00:13:40.547
And another myth I'm going to share.

00:13:40.547 --> 00:13:47.552
This last one, and this is if I just think positive, my mental health issues will go away.

00:13:47.552 --> 00:13:49.807
And I'm all for positive thinking, right.

00:13:49.807 --> 00:13:56.110
But look, I want to be positive, I want to see the glass full instead of half empty and those things.

00:13:56.110 --> 00:14:03.211
But sometimes we have to deal with that and it could be that we are experiencing like a chemical imbalance.

00:14:03.211 --> 00:14:13.299
That could be it, but it could be we're just overworked or overloaded with responsibilities and haven't taken the time to evaluate those things that are causing stress.

00:14:13.299 --> 00:14:22.649
When people seek therapy, you can take time to explore what are the sources that's causing this, so you will know how to fix it.

00:14:22.649 --> 00:14:27.807
You might not know how to fix it, but you can gain tools to help you to work through that process.

00:14:29.171 --> 00:14:32.955
And it's so true, not just for children, it's for adults, anybody that are going through that.

00:14:32.955 --> 00:14:35.769
So what are some of the warning signs of mental health struggles?

00:14:37.876 --> 00:14:52.269
When I think of warning signs and you guys can pay attention to your family and friends, but even within yourself, but one of the first things that I noticed is that people begin to loss of interest in activities.

00:14:52.269 --> 00:14:55.403
Sometimes they start to isolate themselves.

00:14:55.403 --> 00:15:01.924
They are tired or they're either not sleeping enough or they're sleeping too much.

00:15:01.924 --> 00:15:04.509
Again, irritable moods.

00:15:04.509 --> 00:15:06.759
I don't know why I'm feeling like this.

00:15:06.759 --> 00:15:11.258
I'm really angry and not able to control like temper or behaviors.

00:15:11.258 --> 00:15:17.457
Those are some of the signs that come to mind immediately for me when I think about okay, let's do a mental check.

00:15:17.457 --> 00:15:19.341
What's going on?

00:15:19.341 --> 00:15:20.462
What's going on here.

00:15:22.385 --> 00:15:22.986
That makes sense.

00:15:22.986 --> 00:15:27.440
So how do you especially like a teenager?

00:15:27.440 --> 00:15:28.894
How do you get them to open up to you doing the therapy?

00:15:28.894 --> 00:15:30.626
Because that's where my grandson is.

00:15:30.626 --> 00:15:31.616
I don't want to go there.

00:15:31.616 --> 00:15:33.080
How do you get them to open up?

00:15:33.100 --> 00:15:38.602
It's like any relationship you have to build trust.

00:15:38.602 --> 00:15:41.163
So I'm used to working with teenagers.

00:15:41.163 --> 00:15:46.264
I know that doesn't come naturally, but at the end of the day everybody wants to be heard.

00:15:46.264 --> 00:15:50.883
They have something that they want to say and maybe they don't know how to communicate those things.

00:15:50.883 --> 00:15:59.857
So building a trust and relationship is one of the things that we as therapists do, so that our clients can open up to us and talk.

00:15:59.857 --> 00:16:01.722
And sometimes it happens right away.

00:16:01.722 --> 00:16:05.500
Sometimes you have to put the work in to get them to open up.

00:16:06.263 --> 00:16:06.844
Absolutely.

00:16:07.085 --> 00:16:11.423
I agree with that because I'm a nana grandmother and I have six grandchildren.

00:16:11.946 --> 00:16:15.682
Like I used to tell my daughters, either let me tell you the truth or you want me to lie to you.

00:16:15.682 --> 00:16:17.188
I'm going to tell you the truth anyway.

00:16:17.188 --> 00:16:20.619
So just pulling that out of them makes a big difference.

00:16:20.619 --> 00:16:25.668
It they can trust is really about trust that you're not going to hurt them or you're not going to put them down.

00:16:25.668 --> 00:16:27.514
That makes a big difference.

00:16:27.514 --> 00:16:30.879
And actually getting that trust to start to process Is that right?

00:16:30.879 --> 00:16:32.643
Yes, yes, yes.

00:16:32.643 --> 00:16:33.825
Okay, that's great.

00:16:33.825 --> 00:16:34.686
At least I said it right.

00:16:35.827 --> 00:16:37.110
You got it, you got it.

00:16:38.115 --> 00:16:41.365
So what are simple ways to manage daily stress?

00:16:41.365 --> 00:16:42.716
Okay, got it.

00:16:42.716 --> 00:16:42.956
So what are?

00:16:42.975 --> 00:16:43.677
simple ways to manage daily stress.

00:16:43.677 --> 00:17:03.736
Ok, I hear it all the time like from your medical professions, but exercising, healthy eating, and I also think that having like a social life, like where you're not all business and no play those type of things, play those type of things.

00:17:03.736 --> 00:17:16.086
So having balance, doing things that fill your cup, especially if you have a high stress job or a lot of stress in your family, finding something that you can pour back into yourself is really important as well when I think about ways to manage it.

00:17:16.086 --> 00:17:24.965
Therapy, making a commitment that I'm going to go talk to somebody about, whatever it is that I'm dealing with, that can be a way for you to address stress.

00:17:24.965 --> 00:17:28.916
There are plenty like resources and things that people can read.

00:17:28.916 --> 00:17:37.585
I always just say let's pull back the onion and see what's the source or the root cause of this stress and seeing how you can adjust some of those things.

00:17:37.585 --> 00:17:41.362
And that's just my take on the starters to it.

00:17:46.494 --> 00:17:47.959
No, I'm not saying about self-care, about taking care of yourself.

00:17:47.959 --> 00:17:48.901
But some people don't know about self-care.

00:17:48.901 --> 00:17:50.204
I remember when I used corporate, the IBM.

00:17:50.204 --> 00:17:56.316
That's a stressful job because I'm dealing with sales, I'm dealing with making my numbers, I'm dealing with I've done the finance part too.

00:17:56.316 --> 00:18:00.124
That's something that actually we forget about taking care of ourselves.

00:18:00.124 --> 00:18:01.006
We even like sleep.

00:18:01.006 --> 00:18:02.449
It keeps you asleep as well.

00:18:05.419 --> 00:18:09.347
And when you mentioned self-care, sometimes people get that mixed up.

00:18:09.347 --> 00:18:10.800
Well, I don't want to be selfish.

00:18:10.800 --> 00:18:12.300
No, you're not being selfish.

00:18:12.300 --> 00:18:16.306
If you want to continue to show up for others, you got to first show up for yourself.

00:18:16.306 --> 00:18:21.179
So how are you going to do that If you wore out, stressed out and all those things?

00:18:21.179 --> 00:18:24.701
So that's something that people need to be mindful of.

00:18:25.222 --> 00:18:30.126
Yeah, and that's something that my question was how do you prioritize your own mental health?

00:18:30.126 --> 00:18:33.490
Oh, yeah, so you want to add something to that?

00:18:33.570 --> 00:18:46.779
No, even for me, trying to exercise, being intentional about the things that, like said that fill my cup.

00:18:46.779 --> 00:19:02.426
I'm a spiritual person, so prayer, um, and attending church, spending time with my family and friends, exercising, and right now I don't watch a whole lot of tv, but when I do, hgtv, that was my thing, I'm just relaxed, looking at these beautiful halls and what ideas that I have, and that's just it.

00:19:02.575 --> 00:19:07.817
Like finding those things and also evaluating where am I Like I gauge?

00:19:07.817 --> 00:19:13.765
Okay, I'm not feeling like myself right now, what's happening and what do I need to change.

00:19:13.765 --> 00:19:22.608
I have learned that not only from my professional work, from my personal life and for, like I said, working with clients as well, that's a good one.

00:19:22.628 --> 00:19:23.589
It really does make a difference.

00:19:23.589 --> 00:19:26.124
So one final thought, and then we're going to talk about your book too.

00:19:26.124 --> 00:19:29.123
What piece of advice for someone feeling overwhelmed?

00:19:29.123 --> 00:19:29.944
What?

00:19:29.964 --> 00:19:30.507
would you recommend?

00:19:30.674 --> 00:19:33.303
And I know you do a consulting and I told you as well.

00:19:34.204 --> 00:19:34.566
Okay.

00:19:34.566 --> 00:20:10.045
So when people are feeling overwhelmed, first of all, like I said, taking time to evaluate the root causes and the sources and when people are really busy, sometimes they don't even know they're overwhelmed until they get to call, like backed into a corner, and then you have no choice but to pay attention, like I am overwhelmed now, but before you even get to that, identifying like what are some things that will lead you to that place and what can you put in place to prevent those things from happening, Absolutely, absolutely, and that's good.

00:20:10.065 --> 00:20:14.118
So I was going to ask you to recommend any books, but let's recommend your book.

00:20:14.138 --> 00:20:18.489
I don't have a book yet, not yet Still working on that.

00:20:18.734 --> 00:20:19.960
Oh, you got to get the book out.

00:20:20.603 --> 00:20:49.297
Yes, but I thought about several things that I use and I went to a conference and this one it's an app, but it's like a whole life thing and that has been something that I plug into as a therapist to find, because so many things happen with so many people, and I may not have experienced it, but maybe my client has, but this is called Heart and Health, and they have tons of information.

00:20:49.297 --> 00:21:02.123
This is not the only thing that I listen to, but this is one of the best resources that I have found that has a variety of areas that people can tune into and they do have podcasts or discussions and things.

00:21:02.123 --> 00:21:13.411
You can go back and watch the recorders if you're not able to attend those live things, but they have a lot of medical professionals and people in the field that share on those types of platforms.

00:21:13.411 --> 00:21:20.848
I advertise my business on Therapy for Black Girls, but they have a podcast that people can go to and listen.

00:21:21.536 --> 00:21:34.105
It's a lot of information out there, too, and, like I said, when we think about therapy and people lives, there's a vast of things that could be happening, and what I would say, too, is do your research.

00:21:34.105 --> 00:21:36.623
Also, seek the help if you need it.

00:21:36.623 --> 00:21:39.423
It's not a bad thing if you need help.

00:21:39.423 --> 00:21:48.201
I know therapy it is a confidential thing Nobody's going out sharing your deep, dark secrets and the things that you're dealing with and we're here to support.

00:21:48.201 --> 00:21:55.365
I know I have my private practice, beginning a new counseling, but there are therapists and we're here to serve.

00:21:55.365 --> 00:22:00.909
So we know that there's a great need to support those who want to address their mental health.

00:22:00.909 --> 00:22:06.365
And even if you haven't really thought about it, just do a check-in like you do with your home position.

00:22:06.365 --> 00:22:11.128
Let me just go talk to somebody and see where I am, and that's just what I would say.

00:22:11.711 --> 00:22:14.217
Yeah, and I would recommend that they're going to see you.

00:22:15.038 --> 00:22:17.763
Yes, for sure, yes, yes.

00:22:18.685 --> 00:22:23.144
So give us your contact and share with the audience your contact information, how they can get in touch with you.

00:22:23.365 --> 00:22:34.651
Okay, so you can visit our website at beginningthenewcounselingcom, or you can call us at 404-538-0683.

00:22:34.651 --> 00:22:40.205
And we'll be glad to assist you with any of your mental health needs.

00:22:41.188 --> 00:22:41.808
That's awesome.

00:22:41.808 --> 00:22:45.616
So can you give us a short success story?

00:22:46.679 --> 00:22:47.901
A short success story.

00:22:47.901 --> 00:23:07.564
Sure, sure, let's see, because I have a lot, but I'll use because I'll use a success story of myself, just really, where you have accomplished a lot of things in life but then you also experience challenges, but making sure that you're putting yourself first.

00:23:07.564 --> 00:23:14.518
I have a personal therapist too, and that doesn't mean I'm crazy If people have that stigma.

00:23:14.518 --> 00:23:19.428
I just want to be able to show up and be my best self in every area of my life.

00:23:19.428 --> 00:23:30.338
So, again, evaluating what's happening and what tools or resources I need to put in place so I can be the best version of myself, and that's what we do.

00:23:31.182 --> 00:23:31.785
That's awesome.

00:23:31.785 --> 00:23:37.165
So give us your contact information again and tell us the name of that book or podcast that you say.

00:23:37.355 --> 00:23:50.279
Okay, that podcast, like I said, it's called Heart and Health and we have a variety of resources on it and what was your other question.

00:23:50.299 --> 00:23:51.663
Repeat your how they can get in touch with you.

00:23:51.784 --> 00:24:01.570
Okay, so you can reach us at beginninganewcounselingcom, or you can give us a call at 404-538-0683.

00:24:02.411 --> 00:24:04.333
That's great, and I actually just downloaded that app.

00:24:05.474 --> 00:24:07.483
Okay, good deal, good deal.

00:24:07.523 --> 00:24:09.613
The Heart and Health Medical is what it's called.

00:24:09.613 --> 00:24:10.737
I think that's what it is right.

00:24:11.076 --> 00:24:12.000
Yes, okay.

00:24:12.181 --> 00:24:14.326
And you'll see a little heart around it with different style of things.

00:24:14.326 --> 00:24:16.240
So make sure you download that app audience.

00:24:16.240 --> 00:24:19.228
But thank you, chyna, for being on my podcast.

00:24:19.228 --> 00:24:23.958
I truly appreciate it and it's a very informative audience.

00:24:23.958 --> 00:24:24.900
Make sure you, andyna, for being on my podcast.

00:24:24.900 --> 00:24:25.923
I truly appreciate it and it's very informative.

00:24:25.923 --> 00:24:27.626
And, like I said, we just think about therapy or counseling as oh.

00:24:27.626 --> 00:24:28.609
I'm not crazy.

00:24:28.609 --> 00:24:29.852
It's not about that.

00:24:29.852 --> 00:24:31.988
It's really making sure you're taking care of yourself.

00:24:31.988 --> 00:24:32.974
It's about self-care.

00:24:32.974 --> 00:24:36.785
So, Chyna, thank you so much for being on my podcast.

00:24:36.806 --> 00:24:37.267
You're welcome.

00:24:37.267 --> 00:24:38.640
Thank you for inviting me.

00:24:38.640 --> 00:24:39.865
