In this episode, your hosts Kindra Riber and Mick Smith discuss the high conflict custody case of Alec Baldwin and Kim Bassinger. The lights of Hollywood do not escape the darkness of divorce and parental alienation.
Is divorce, custody, and parental alienation any easier for celebrities? Not even the Hollywood elite are immune to the trauma inherent in the custody industry. Ireland Baldwin is the eldest daughter of celebrity Alec Baldwin and the only child from his first marriage to Kim Basinger. Ireland infamously hit the airwaves after her father called her a "rude, thoughtless, little pig" in a voicemail message to her when she was just 11.
Ireland was born October 23, 1995 and is now known as an animal lover and an It Girl while showing her social media followers mortifying texts from her dad about who she is dating and whether she'll get pregnant.
Her only film role to date saw her play a younger version of Kim Basinger's character in the 2013 Sly Stallone movie Grudge Match.
Her most high-profile relationship today was with pansexual, agender New York rapper Angel Haze, 25. That ended in 2015, just before Ireland checked herself into rehab for "emotional trauma", claiming she was lost in the "darkness" of anxiety. Meanwhile Ireland had her eye on UFC fighter Ronda Rousey, trying to woo her on Instagram. Now Ireland is dating surfer Noah Schweizer, 21, and has been since December 2015.
Are she and dad Alec still at loggerheads? The infamous voicemail incident has apparently had a major effect on Alec's relationship with Ireland. Alec, who has fathered numerous children with his current wife Hilaria, admitted: "It's a scab that never heals cause it's being picked at all the time by other people. My daughter, that's hurt her in a permanent way."
What did Alec specifically say in the voicemail? He blasted: "You don't have the brains or the decency as a human being. I don't give a damn that you're 12 years old, or 11 years old, or that you're a child, or that your mother is a thoughtless pain in the a** who doesn't care about what you do as far as I'm concerned. "Once again I have made an a** of myself trying to get to a phone. You have humiliated me for the last time with this phone."
Are there signs of hope for Ireland? The yoga fanatic was snapped practicing some movies during a holiday in the Bahamas, inspired by stepmom Hilaria, who's a yoga pro. Ireland has been telling herself to "work harder" in bewilderingly long Instagram posts about her body. She posted a long rumination about her guilt about eating pizza, along with a clip of her shaking her bum in the mirror, wearing a bra and thong.
Before she was famous, Basinger dated model Tim Saunders, photographer Dale Robinette and football player Joe Namath. On October 12, 1980, she married makeup artist Ron Snyder-Britton, whom she met on the film Hard Country.
Basinger developed agoraphobia that same year, following a panic attack in a health-food store, and was housebound for six months. Snyder quit his job during the marriage and changed his surname to Britton after Basinger requested he choose "something with a B" so she could keep the same initials when using her married name. The pair divorced just before Christmas 1989, after which Basinger paid him $9,000 monthly alimony for eight years. Britton wrote a memoir titled Longer Than Forever, published in 1998, about their time together and about her affair with Richard Gere, with whom she starred in No Mercy (1986) and Final Analysis (1992). While her first divorce was in the works, Basinger had romantic relationships with hairdresser/producer Jon Peters as well as singer Prince, who did the album for Batman and also produced her unreleased 1989 album Hollywood Affair. She was then involved briefly with fitness trainer Phil Walsh and fashion designer Alexio Gandara.
