00:01:14.656 --> 00:01:16.496
Liam, welcome to the show.

00:01:16.617 --> 00:01:17.427
Thanks for coming on, man.

00:01:18.216 --> 00:01:18.917
Thanks, Jonathan.

00:01:18.927 --> 00:01:19.686
Thanks for having me.

00:01:21.177 --> 00:01:22.496
A pleasure, my friend.

00:01:22.496 --> 00:01:22.977
A pleasure.

00:01:22.986 --> 00:01:35.355
You, you offer a wealth of knowledge, especially with Neuroscience like that's very like brain associated, very cerebral and then connecting that with spirituality.

00:01:35.704 --> 00:01:37.745
This should be an interesting show today.

00:01:38.234 --> 00:01:46.344
Um, but before we get into all the things that you do, I think a lot of us would like to know why and why not.

00:01:46.894 --> 00:01:50.965
Where did that, like, why, why this, why, why are you doing this now?

00:01:50.974 --> 00:01:53.765
What, what, what is, what's, what was your calling?

00:01:53.784 --> 00:01:55.844
And maybe hopefully we learn about your calling.

00:01:56.084 --> 00:01:59.185
We can spark some other people's callings as well.

00:02:00.605 --> 00:02:00.885
Yeah.

00:02:00.885 --> 00:02:05.575
Well, it's a great question because, um, how do we end up doing the things we do in our life?

00:02:06.125 --> 00:02:09.104
But I guess for me, it was a few years ago now.

00:02:09.134 --> 00:02:16.034
And I remember I was sitting in my home office and I'd created this wonderful life.

00:02:16.074 --> 00:02:16.465
Really?

00:02:16.504 --> 00:02:17.754
I was a multimillionaire.

00:02:18.465 --> 00:02:28.245
Finish building a new new home in the countryside view of the mountains and things were going well in my life, you know, I had plenty of money.

00:02:28.245 --> 00:02:30.094
I had the freedom had nice stuff.

00:02:30.094 --> 00:02:31.205
I had the freedom to travel.

00:02:31.754 --> 00:02:36.735
But instead of I remember this moment and I was sitting, I just gone into the office in the morning.

00:02:37.490 --> 00:02:45.180
And I was sitting there, and instead of feeling great, instead of saying my life is amazing, I felt absolutely terrible.

00:02:45.979 --> 00:02:47.889
I was just at breaking point.

00:02:48.569 --> 00:02:59.960
And I just had an argument with my wife, you know, and I opened my email, and I can't remember exactly what it was, but it was just more stuff coming at me.

00:03:00.069 --> 00:03:00.599
Problems.

00:03:00.599 --> 00:03:02.259
The businesses weren't going too well.

00:03:02.259 --> 00:03:03.639
They were going through a bit of a tough time.

00:03:03.639 --> 00:03:07.740
I had multiple businesses that I owned at the time that I managed from home.

00:03:08.270 --> 00:03:14.789
My marriage was going very badly, but I just remember thinking, you know, this isn't what I signed up for.

00:03:14.819 --> 00:03:17.069
I've really worked all my life.

00:03:18.000 --> 00:03:28.750
getting out there, setting goals, really working hard and really studying how to be successful with, you know, visualizing and, and really being motivated to do everything.

00:03:29.430 --> 00:03:30.569
And I should be happy.

00:03:30.830 --> 00:03:34.180
I should be really grateful for everything I've got.

00:03:34.300 --> 00:03:42.860
And the other thing is, um, I shouldn't have all the stress and problems, but it's just like everything was weighing down on me.

00:03:42.860 --> 00:03:45.289
And a few things were, I was going through my mind.

00:03:45.965 --> 00:03:46.664
This is awful.

00:03:46.664 --> 00:03:48.435
This isn't this is horrible.

00:03:48.514 --> 00:03:49.615
You know, I didn't.

00:03:50.384 --> 00:03:52.115
Is this what my life's really about?

00:03:52.645 --> 00:03:55.985
And I remember having this thought, I can't take it anymore.

00:03:56.745 --> 00:04:04.659
And I thought, you know, really don't know if it's a voice or just I came up with this idea that I want to just get rid of all this.

00:04:04.879 --> 00:04:07.009
I want to throw all of this away.

00:04:07.009 --> 00:04:08.830
It's just not worth the effort anymore.

00:04:09.319 --> 00:04:10.469
There's too much stress.

00:04:10.469 --> 00:04:11.430
There's too much struggle.

00:04:11.430 --> 00:04:17.889
And even the good things that I should be able to enjoy, the things I've worked for, really nice home, all these things.

00:04:18.069 --> 00:04:21.240
I'm not enjoying them because it's just too many problems, too much stress.

00:04:21.740 --> 00:04:23.079
And I don't feel in control.

00:04:23.079 --> 00:04:27.420
I don't know how to tie it all together and make it all work.

00:04:27.839 --> 00:04:40.550
So anyway, and I thought, you know, I would really rather, I'd be quite happy to get rid of all of this as long as I don't lose my soul, because there's a voice in me that said, you know, what would you rather do, would you rather.

00:04:41.805 --> 00:04:47.595
lose everything or lose your soul because it almost felt like I would have to lose everything to get my soul back.

00:04:47.625 --> 00:04:49.605
My soul wasn't, was no longer in me.

00:04:50.254 --> 00:04:56.475
Now, the funny thing was, you have to be a bit careful what you think and what you wish for because it was literally weeks later.

00:04:56.899 --> 00:04:58.180
But I did lose everything.

00:04:58.769 --> 00:05:00.689
It all collapsed in one big heap.

00:05:01.269 --> 00:05:10.569
You know, my marriage went all of the, my home, my businesses, they literally all just collapsed not overnight, but within a few, a few weeks.

00:05:10.860 --> 00:05:12.079
That's just a short period of time.

00:05:12.089 --> 00:05:12.550
Jeez.

00:05:12.930 --> 00:05:13.480
It is.

00:05:13.500 --> 00:05:13.730
Yeah.

00:05:13.730 --> 00:05:15.779
It really just collapsed all at once.

00:05:16.060 --> 00:05:24.509
And I ended up having to move out and with literally nothing more than a few clothes on my back and move in with my elderly mother.

00:05:24.860 --> 00:05:28.889
And sleep on the sofa and in the living room of her small apartment.

00:05:29.290 --> 00:05:32.509
Now I was in my forties and she was in her seventies.

00:05:32.660 --> 00:05:44.410
She used to go out to work just to pay for food to get for me, because I had nothing, I had no, absolutely nothing and no prospects and no idea how to, how to get out of the mess that I'd created.

00:05:45.120 --> 00:05:52.050
But you know, a funny thing sort of happened with all of that, because after that experience.

00:05:53.199 --> 00:05:58.699
I rebuilt my life and things started to come together in quite a different way.

00:05:59.279 --> 00:06:03.449
And so I rebuilt my wealth again, I started to set up new businesses.

00:06:04.050 --> 00:06:09.980
And I started, and I found a new relationship, or should I say, a new relationship seemed to find me.

00:06:10.019 --> 00:06:13.100
I found this amazing person for a romantic relationship.

00:06:13.805 --> 00:06:20.915
And then I started to do all these crazy things, like travel around the world on my own yacht, which I did for eight years.

00:06:21.394 --> 00:06:28.464
So I was actually living this lifestyle where I could manage my businesses anywhere in the world from my yacht.

00:06:28.625 --> 00:06:30.095
I was in a great relationship.

00:06:30.404 --> 00:06:32.595
I was traveling to really exciting places.

00:06:33.824 --> 00:06:35.855
And I remember thinking, how has this happened?

00:06:36.055 --> 00:06:40.524
Because one of the things that didn't, that wasn't there was the stress and the problems.

00:06:41.269 --> 00:06:43.959
And I thought, this is really great.

00:06:43.990 --> 00:06:53.670
I'm, I'm feeling, you know, what, what happened to this idea that to be successful in life, you have to put up with problems and stress and, and, and lots of things going wrong.

00:06:53.680 --> 00:07:02.600
Because what I noticed when I started to rebuild my life in this process was that things were happening in quite a different sort of way.

00:07:02.600 --> 00:07:08.480
So I'd meet people out of the blue who incidentally, who turned out to be really helpful, right?

00:07:08.519 --> 00:07:10.949
Or this business opportunity would show up or.

00:07:11.089 --> 00:07:19.230
You know, and we'd think of them as like coincidence or luck or synchronicity, but it was like they were too frequent.

00:07:19.560 --> 00:07:22.149
It was like this was something more to it than luck.

00:07:22.709 --> 00:07:24.110
And I said to myself.

00:07:24.879 --> 00:07:31.230
I want to figure out what's different, because now I'm really living and feeling like I'm living my life purpose.

00:07:31.449 --> 00:07:34.519
And most importantly, the thing I'd really found was balance.

00:07:35.029 --> 00:07:42.060
You know, I found a great relationship, great income, great businesses that I love to work on, great lifestyle.

00:07:42.079 --> 00:07:43.019
For me, it was travel.

00:07:43.029 --> 00:07:46.959
For me, you know, sailing and um, And doing other things as well.

00:07:47.439 --> 00:07:49.360
So I thought, how has all this come together?

00:07:49.360 --> 00:08:01.240
How have I managed to create this life balance where I don't feel that I'm sacrificing one area of my life to achieve in another area, and I'm not feeling it's like a juggling act and I'm overwhelmed with stress and problems.

00:08:01.810 --> 00:08:05.839
So really what I did was I went on a mission for myself.

00:08:06.839 --> 00:08:08.439
To figure out what was going on.

00:08:08.860 --> 00:08:10.709
Because there was something very different going on.

00:08:10.910 --> 00:08:13.620
And I'm not talking about some sort of spiritual stuff.

00:08:14.110 --> 00:08:15.579
Because it didn't quite feel like that.

00:08:15.579 --> 00:08:18.259
But it also was something more than just my own effort.

00:08:18.980 --> 00:08:23.079
You know, I wasn't getting visions or, you know, angels weren't appearing to me.

00:08:23.490 --> 00:08:27.500
But I knew that something else was in control of my life, something else was running it.

00:08:27.500 --> 00:08:30.620
So I went on a mission to figure out what that actually was.

00:08:30.639 --> 00:08:33.049
Because for a start, I didn't want to mess it up.

00:08:33.299 --> 00:08:40.049
I wanted to make sure that whatever I was doing, and I was doing something differently, I wanted to make sure that I kept doing it.

00:08:40.299 --> 00:08:41.120
And it sounds like

00:08:41.169 --> 00:08:48.799
if I were to cut you off, it sounds like the word that comes to my mind right now was, and is synchronicity.

00:08:49.615 --> 00:09:07.955
Because before, when you were, when you had that, a lot, an abundance of material success and then things were not aligned, it doesn't sound like you ran into a lot of synchronicity at that point of your life.

00:09:07.955 --> 00:09:12.825
A lot of it was you doing all, a lot of the, the grunt work, right?

00:09:14.054 --> 00:09:22.894
And then, now, when you, Lost it and you're coming now into a different direction Yeah, like dominoes.

00:09:22.894 --> 00:09:24.595
It sounds too good to be true, right?

00:09:24.945 --> 00:09:26.745
And like you said, it sounds like felt

00:09:26.745 --> 00:09:27.995
like when you're

00:09:28.455 --> 00:10:06.105
when you're in your passion things just fall into place Which is like very freaky and the word I use the because I know myself I can just say you know What this is too good to be true And if you're like me and you watched a lot of movies growing up You Whenever things are like hunky dory, that's like the beginning of the movie and you're like, this is the everybody's too nice The husband and wife are too good for each other something bad is gonna happen It's like that that that just there's something in your throat that it just feels wrong And I feel like the word synchronicity helps me Accept it.

00:10:06.164 --> 00:10:07.595
I'm like, alright, let's just blow with it.

00:10:07.595 --> 00:10:12.735
So I like how you were like, let's let's flow with it And let's continue with it.

00:10:12.985 --> 00:10:21.975
And I think that's what makes separates you from a lot of people because a lot of people don't feel comfortable with everything falling into place because it feels too good to be true.

00:10:23.179 --> 00:10:25.460
Well, what I discovered was you're absolutely right.

00:10:25.549 --> 00:10:26.779
It is about synchronicity.

00:10:26.799 --> 00:10:29.960
Well, that's one way of one way we would describe it.

00:10:30.409 --> 00:10:31.289
But here's the thing.

00:10:31.629 --> 00:10:35.870
Yes, I had a bit of synchronicity in my old life, the stressed life.

00:10:36.169 --> 00:10:38.549
But this was this was more than synchronicity.

00:10:38.600 --> 00:10:44.519
Because I think the problem is when we think of synchronicity, we think it's something outside of our control.

00:10:44.909 --> 00:10:52.340
And we think, well, you know, maybe good things might happen occasionally or once in a while and you're sort of hoping things, things will happen.

00:10:52.769 --> 00:10:54.970
But that's not actually really what I discovered.

00:10:55.029 --> 00:10:56.620
That's not actually how it works.

00:10:56.620 --> 00:11:00.399
This thing we call synchronicity actually has a biological foundation.

00:11:00.840 --> 00:11:07.019
It's, it's, it's tied up with the way nature or way life is actually structured to be.

00:11:07.269 --> 00:11:10.360
And we just think of, think of it as synchronicity.

00:11:10.495 --> 00:11:19.075
And it hardly ever happens for most of us because we don't understand the process of how we create synchronicity in our life.

00:11:19.605 --> 00:11:34.534
And that's what I went on a mission to discover because I thought, you know, I mean, I've done all of the meditation and the visualization and the changing the beliefs and being positive thinker and goal setting and, you know, visualization boards and the law of attraction.

00:11:34.534 --> 00:11:35.404
And.

00:11:35.855 --> 00:11:41.575
All of these, um, spiritual and, and psychological and self help methods, if you like.

00:11:42.184 --> 00:11:54.095
But the problem I found with all of those was that didn't really take me to this point of things flowing, because it was about being in the flow, but things showing up on a regular basis.

00:11:54.565 --> 00:12:00.235
What they really did was keep me in the state of anticipation and stress and trying to make things happen.

00:12:00.384 --> 00:12:00.725
Interesting.

00:12:00.735 --> 00:12:03.845
So I want, I wanted to understand there's, there's got to be.

00:12:04.519 --> 00:12:08.450
Something scientific about the way synchronicity works.

00:12:08.450 --> 00:12:11.539
There has to be something practical that I'm doing.

00:12:11.720 --> 00:12:16.129
That's creating these opportunities in this, this way of living in my life.

00:12:16.720 --> 00:12:20.850
I can't think it's just this idea of just letting go and allowing it to happen.

00:12:20.850 --> 00:12:30.403
Because the, one of the problems with that idea is that we never do it because we don't, we, you know, so we say, yes, just let go and allow it to happen.

00:12:30.403 --> 00:12:31.740
It's hard to let go.

00:12:32.379 --> 00:12:36.879
Well, it's only hard because we don't understand what it actually is.

00:12:37.210 --> 00:12:37.549
We don't know.

00:12:37.720 --> 00:12:45.929
We just think this is a, that it's a question of faith, you know, Oh, just, you know, let go and everything will work out, but that we'd have no certainty about that.

00:12:45.929 --> 00:12:47.120
So it makes us feel stressed.

00:12:47.120 --> 00:12:48.720
So that's why it never works.

00:12:49.039 --> 00:12:56.360
So I wanted to find out the, that had to be a physical biological component to why I was getting such different results.

00:12:56.440 --> 00:12:59.500
And really, when I started to uncover this, what I found was.

00:13:00.799 --> 00:13:01.980
It was incredibly simple.

00:13:03.190 --> 00:13:05.100
It was, and it was so obvious.

00:13:05.705 --> 00:13:07.715
that I wondered why I'd never seen it before.

00:13:08.274 --> 00:13:14.065
But because it's so simple and because it's so obvious, I think they're the very reasons why we don't see it.

00:13:14.184 --> 00:13:19.835
Why most people, why I hadn't seen it before, because it's like, no, life's difficult.

00:13:19.845 --> 00:13:20.715
Life's hard.

00:13:20.725 --> 00:13:21.625
You have to work on it.

00:13:21.625 --> 00:13:22.445
You have to struggle.

00:13:22.445 --> 00:13:25.794
You have to, you know, overcome challenges.

00:13:26.110 --> 00:13:30.629
You have to expect to work hard and to, to struggle.

00:13:31.419 --> 00:13:36.600
So when you expect that you're not looking at another place where the obvious is showing itself to you.

00:13:36.629 --> 00:13:41.360
Because even if you look in the natural world, you know, we're not very good at this as humans.

00:13:41.360 --> 00:13:51.169
We're too busy in our thoughts, trying to figure stuff out on our computers, working on our business, working on our relationship, working on our health, trying to get some more information about.

00:13:51.725 --> 00:13:54.705
The next best thing we need to do to improve ourselves.

00:13:55.034 --> 00:14:05.825
You mentioned earlier about coffee and water and you know, you can, I'm sure you can read, you can spend your life reading books about why coffee is bad or why it's good and what sort of water you need to drink and all that sort of thing.

00:14:06.335 --> 00:14:13.254
But we miss the obvious, which is if you just stop and look around, there's a natural harmony and natural order to everything.

00:14:13.764 --> 00:14:16.945
That's not based on trying to figure stuff out.

00:14:16.955 --> 00:14:18.044
I mean, even our body.

00:14:18.429 --> 00:14:19.360
99.

00:14:19.389 --> 00:14:26.289
999 percent of the things that happen in our body, we have no concept about, we're not thinking about, we're not aware of.

00:14:27.034 --> 00:14:28.664
But it all just happens perfectly.

00:14:28.664 --> 00:14:30.315
You know, our heart keeps beating.

00:14:30.565 --> 00:14:35.754
We keep breathing and all the Trillions of processes that are happening inside our body every second.

00:14:35.754 --> 00:14:39.544
We're not paying any attention to that, but that's reality That's what's going on.

00:14:39.904 --> 00:14:51.894
It's far more real than what's going on in our thoughts trying to figure stuff out So that's where I really started was thinking I need to look Where it led me if you like was to look in the natural world.

00:14:51.894 --> 00:14:54.245
How do things work and operate naturally?

00:14:54.245 --> 00:15:00.909
You That's the place to start to figure out, if you like, how to create a natural life, which is really what it is.

00:15:00.919 --> 00:15:04.110
I mean, synchronicity and things flowing and good things happening.

00:15:04.889 --> 00:15:06.179
That's the way of nature.

00:15:06.679 --> 00:15:07.870
It's not struggle.

00:15:08.360 --> 00:15:22.475
And a lot of, um, the success we had with, we have with our inventions is a reflection and our, uh, A attempt to mimic nature, right?

00:15:22.485 --> 00:15:28.794
Like the helicopters, I, from what I heard is us attempting to mimic a dragon fly.

00:15:29.164 --> 00:15:40.924
It's not going to be as good because, uh, we didn't create the dragon fly, but as we learn more and more about it, we get more and more amazing understanding of how we can mimic or work with it.

00:15:40.924 --> 00:15:48.044
So I like the direction that you're going with going, going to nature and understanding, um, getting answers from that.

00:15:48.044 --> 00:15:48.174
Yeah.

00:15:51.004 --> 00:15:52.575
Yeah, that's, um, what you're referring to.

00:15:52.575 --> 00:16:10.014
It's a, there's a whole body of research called biomimicry where they literally look at the natural world and, and see what, as you say, what works to apply it to maybe something we can use from a technological point of view, such as the movement of birds or, you know, whatever it might be.

00:16:10.605 --> 00:16:11.254
Very interesting.

00:16:11.595 --> 00:16:32.215
So your, your journey into figuring out like how to, you, you, you've been, On that journey of harnessing the, I guess the laws of nature when it comes to synchronicity and a word that popped up as you're talking about that journey.

00:16:32.215 --> 00:16:37.174
I'll let you continue, but I want to just highlight the word certainty.

00:16:37.549 --> 00:16:46.169
And I feel a lot of people hold themselves back because they need a high level of certainty before they move forward.

00:16:46.539 --> 00:17:04.470
So I'm curious how you worked with that on your journey of figuring out how to take advantage and I guess take ownership of that world of making things happen so it flows.

00:17:04.500 --> 00:17:06.470
So please continue with.

00:17:06.805 --> 00:17:15.714
Your journey into figuring out like what exactly did you figure out to get into that flow state to, to, to flow, so to speak.

00:17:17.005 --> 00:17:21.865
Well, you're right in using that word certainty because it is based on certainty.

00:17:21.934 --> 00:17:29.315
I didn't want to do any of more of the stuff where it was based on faith, you know, or maybe, you know, you have to believe this.

00:17:29.585 --> 00:17:33.085
And if you don't believe it, if it doesn't make any sense to you, well, then you're the problem.

00:17:33.144 --> 00:17:35.295
But you, but this is the truth and you have to believe it.

00:17:35.545 --> 00:17:37.077
And, and that works for some

00:17:37.077 --> 00:17:37.928
people for sure.

00:17:37.928 --> 00:17:43.605
I know for some people that work majority on faith, but as you said, it doesn't work for everybody.

00:17:44.359 --> 00:17:48.839
Well actually I don't think it works for anybody because the distinction I'm making, what is faith?

00:17:49.259 --> 00:17:50.000
Faith is certainty.

00:17:51.250 --> 00:17:55.089
Or, or it's, if faith is certainty, then it's not really faith.

00:17:55.309 --> 00:17:56.279
It's understanding.

00:17:56.690 --> 00:18:01.089
So do you have faith that, um, your heart's going to keep beating?

00:18:01.460 --> 00:18:01.930
You don't have faith.

00:18:01.930 --> 00:18:03.589
You have certainty.

00:18:03.759 --> 00:18:04.730
You know it's going to.

00:18:05.119 --> 00:18:09.644
But unfortunately, most people, what, the way they, They don't really have faith.

00:18:09.714 --> 00:18:10.325
It's hope.

00:18:10.755 --> 00:18:14.964
They hope things are going to work out, and they say, I believe, but they don't really.

00:18:16.434 --> 00:18:19.204
So where I wanted to go was not based on uncertainty.

00:18:19.224 --> 00:18:20.785
I wanted to stick with some facts.

00:18:20.835 --> 00:18:26.815
I wanted to make sure, because I knew I was getting results this way, and I knew the results I'd previously got.

00:18:27.115 --> 00:18:36.325
So I to know, on a factual basis, on a knowing certainty basis, The truth about this, about what's going on.

00:18:36.825 --> 00:18:45.984
And so I thought, well, what can I know for certain about the natural world, the biological world about who, about who I am and how I'm structured and how I'm operating.

00:18:46.494 --> 00:18:51.295
And the first thing I discovered that we know for certain is that we live in a biological world.

00:18:51.565 --> 00:19:00.744
We live in a biological body and we're all wired and designed like every other biological animal or creature to live.

00:19:01.839 --> 00:19:03.519
And we're governed by the laws of nature.

00:19:03.599 --> 00:19:11.319
I mean, we're governed by things like gravity, you know, you can have all the fancy ideas in the world, but if you walk out a 10 story building, you're going to fall down.

00:19:11.960 --> 00:19:16.650
It doesn't matter if you believe or hope or have faith that you might fly in the air, you're not going to.

00:19:17.150 --> 00:19:20.990
So I know that for certain we're all governed by the laws of nature.

00:19:21.660 --> 00:19:27.869
The other thing I know about nature for certain is that all of life is primarily wired for one thing.

00:19:28.099 --> 00:19:30.789
It's all designed to achieve one primary goal.

00:19:31.190 --> 00:19:36.839
Whether it be a one cell organism or a microbe to, you know, human beings.

00:19:37.119 --> 00:19:42.000
Everything biological is wired for one primary purpose, and that is to survive.

00:19:43.029 --> 00:19:44.819
To ensure that it survives.

00:19:44.920 --> 00:19:51.269
And the way that it ensures it survives, or what gives it the best chance for survival, is being the best that it can be.

00:19:51.914 --> 00:20:00.125
So all of nature is designed, this is a certainty, to strive to be the best that it can be so that it has the greatest chance for survival.

00:20:00.954 --> 00:20:18.599
And there are many scientists who've talked about this, biological scientists, and come to that conclusion that that is the purpose of all life, is to survive for as long as it can, and in the best way possible, by being the best that it can be, because of course that is what gives the species the greatest chance of survival.

00:20:18.819 --> 00:20:19.990
for survival as well.

00:20:20.720 --> 00:20:23.940
So knowing that I knew that well, that's for certain.

00:20:24.759 --> 00:20:36.700
The next thing I knew for certain is that part of human survival, part of being the best that we can be is being happy because part of being our best isn't just physically being our best.

00:20:36.700 --> 00:20:41.359
It's also emotionally and mentally being our best because and we know this on a practical level.

00:20:41.359 --> 00:20:46.400
When you feel good mentally and emotionally, you're a lot more productive.

00:20:46.440 --> 00:20:49.750
Your body operates in a much more efficient way.

00:20:50.390 --> 00:20:53.839
You're much better at resisting disease or healing from anything.

00:20:54.200 --> 00:21:00.680
So, this all comes down to actually what's wired into us biologically as part of our purpose is to be happy.

00:21:01.240 --> 00:21:06.329
So if being happy is part of our biological wiring, then why aren't we?

00:21:07.505 --> 00:21:22.595
You know, because it doesn't make biological sense to have problems and stress when we're designed not to because problems and stress actually stop us from being our best and they actually, you know, the research done on what stress does to shorten your life is very compelling.

00:21:23.305 --> 00:21:25.375
So I thought, so why aren't we all happy?

00:21:25.700 --> 00:21:28.279
Then and I thought, well, what makes us happy?

00:21:28.289 --> 00:21:31.690
How is nature wired to ensure that we're happy and successful?

00:21:32.240 --> 00:21:32.670
It's correct.

00:21:32.720 --> 00:21:36.220
Nature has created something for all living things to ensure that it does.

00:21:36.220 --> 00:21:50.565
It's a machine and it's called a brain and the primary or only purpose of a brain is to ensure that that The organism that it's attached to is the best that it can be so that it has the greatest chance for survival.

00:21:51.255 --> 00:21:53.474
And that's what the human brain is doing constantly.

00:21:53.484 --> 00:22:01.484
Your brain is, our brain is doing constantly is figuring out ways to make sure that we continue to be the best that we can, can be.

00:22:02.170 --> 00:22:16.990
To have the greatest chance for survival, so it's not only regulating all of our physical functions, but it's also there to regulate our mental and emotional functions as well, which must mean it's designed to ensure that the right things happen in our life.

00:22:17.670 --> 00:22:27.529
For us to be fulfilled, happy, having balance and, and literally not having stress and problems being the best that we can be in every area.

00:22:28.490 --> 00:22:38.039
So these are all ideas or things that I thought, well, these are certain, I know these as facts and I've, it doesn't take a lot of research to discover that it's just common sense, really, that they're true.

00:22:38.660 --> 00:22:41.039
So I thought, well, there can be only one reason.

00:22:41.630 --> 00:22:45.059
And again, I came up with this idea and researched and found it.

00:22:45.319 --> 00:22:45.930
It is true.

00:22:47.269 --> 00:22:48.319
Can be only one reason.

00:22:48.680 --> 00:22:52.660
Why we're not being the best that we can be, because I think, you know, it's like my old life.

00:22:52.670 --> 00:22:56.779
If anyone was to say to me, Liam, are you really reaching your full potential?

00:22:57.130 --> 00:22:58.829
You know, you look like you've got an amazing life.

00:22:58.829 --> 00:23:00.089
You've got multiple businesses.

00:23:00.579 --> 00:23:03.079
You've done these amazing trips around the world.

00:23:03.089 --> 00:23:06.880
And you've got a, I had a yacht in Fiji at one, at one time.

00:23:06.880 --> 00:23:09.259
And I had a house in the, in the Pacific islands.

00:23:09.259 --> 00:23:11.579
And I had, you know, holiday house and all this stuff.

00:23:11.579 --> 00:23:13.059
And I've done all this amazing things.

00:23:13.059 --> 00:23:14.615
And people looking at you would say, Hey.

00:23:14.944 --> 00:23:22.765
You are so successful, but it didn't feel successful because they had all of the stress and problems and all of these other things going on, right?

00:23:22.775 --> 00:23:24.515
So why was I not successful?

00:23:24.525 --> 00:23:30.825
Why did I have problems when I've been working really hard for everything and a lot of things had gone right?

00:23:31.734 --> 00:23:46.285
Only one reason that I realized, and that was this machine that I've been given to make sure that everything works out the right way that I, Take the right actions that I set the right goals that I think the right ideas that I talk to the right people.

00:23:46.285 --> 00:23:52.545
I avoid the wrong people all and many other things besides this machine.

00:23:52.684 --> 00:23:54.184
I wasn't using it the right way.

00:23:54.714 --> 00:23:59.694
It was something about how I was operating it that was causing it to malfunction.

00:23:59.775 --> 00:24:03.625
And what happens when a machine malfunctions, you end up with problems.

00:24:03.625 --> 00:24:04.575
That's the result.

00:24:04.744 --> 00:24:06.265
It's like any machine, a motor car.

00:24:06.494 --> 00:24:13.565
If you don't drive it the right way, you're going You're going to blow up the engine, or it's not going to get to where you want to go, or it's, it's, you're going to have problems.

00:24:13.924 --> 00:24:15.015
So that was what I realized.

00:24:15.095 --> 00:24:30.095
And when I started to combine, really, neuroscience is what you, which you mentioned at the beginning, with psychology and human behavior, the science of how the brain works, I could see there is a specific way we're designed to, the brain is designed to be used.

00:24:30.359 --> 00:24:39.759
Which will ensure that you don't have problems and there's another way that unfortunately most of us are using it without realizing that is the direct cause of problems in our life.

00:24:39.970 --> 00:24:40.369
Interesting.

00:24:40.369 --> 00:24:40.480
So

00:24:40.480 --> 00:24:55.079
the real solution is really to do nothing more than learn how to use your brain the right way, how to drive this machine and you don't need to focus on trying to solve the problems because that's what happened to me.

00:24:55.454 --> 00:25:00.494
All of the problems I had, they just went away, and I, and I didn't replace them with any more.

00:25:00.674 --> 00:25:02.125
I replaced them with good stuff.

00:25:02.704 --> 00:25:03.954
So it's like, you know, this, yeah.

00:25:04.595 --> 00:25:05.065
I was gonna say,

00:25:05.065 --> 00:25:15.125
what's the, what's, what would you say is the correct way to use this machine, this logic device known as the brain?

00:25:15.375 --> 00:25:17.454
Because you were out of survival.

00:25:17.454 --> 00:25:32.204
You were thriving, uh, with a lot of, um, Like you said, uh, from the boat in Fiji to, and I say boat, but it was a yacht, um, to, to multiple businesses and, and, uh, uh, a holiday home.

00:25:32.924 --> 00:25:38.904
So you were out of survival and you were thriving and you were still not happy and things were falling apart.

00:25:38.974 --> 00:25:41.125
And so I'm like, Hmm, interesting.

00:25:41.375 --> 00:25:44.894
So what is the correct way to use your brain?

00:25:46.615 --> 00:25:47.734
Yeah, well, it's interesting, isn't it?

00:25:47.734 --> 00:25:48.795
You say I was thriving.

00:25:48.795 --> 00:25:49.944
It's not how it felt.

00:25:50.105 --> 00:25:51.775
And I wasn't actually thriving.

00:25:52.339 --> 00:26:00.980
I was having some outward material, quote unquote, that we will label as success, the trappings of success, but that's not thriving.

00:26:01.240 --> 00:26:02.150
You had Instagram

00:26:02.150 --> 00:26:02.779
success.

00:26:03.819 --> 00:26:04.829
It looks nice,

00:26:05.200 --> 00:26:05.880
but behind

00:26:06.039 --> 00:26:06.529
the camera.

00:26:07.460 --> 00:26:15.470
How many of us, I'm sure people listening or watching would be relating to this and saying, you know, yeah, I should, there's a lot more in my life I should be grateful for.

00:26:16.130 --> 00:26:21.400
I shouldn't be feeling all stressed if I'm looking at it, because sure, I've got problems.

00:26:21.559 --> 00:26:28.960
Maybe I've got some big problems, but why is that stopping me from enjoying me, enjoying the things I've got in my life?

00:26:29.029 --> 00:26:31.099
You know, it's still probably, it made fruit.

00:26:31.759 --> 00:26:32.940
The fruit tastes bad.

00:26:32.940 --> 00:26:33.539
What's going on?

00:26:34.859 --> 00:26:36.000
Yeah, exactly.

00:26:36.059 --> 00:26:37.420
And that's what I couldn't figure out.

00:26:38.019 --> 00:26:39.349
So here's the thing about the brain.

00:26:39.390 --> 00:26:41.630
And this is actually so incredibly simple.

00:26:41.990 --> 00:26:45.880
And what I do is I teach people how simple this is.

00:26:46.509 --> 00:26:49.819
But it's because it's quite different to the way we've looked at it or thought about it.

00:26:50.289 --> 00:26:53.079
Um, it takes, sometimes it takes a little while to get it.

00:26:53.420 --> 00:26:59.000
But, but in essence, you've literally, you've almost got two brains going on in your head.

00:26:59.430 --> 00:27:02.660
There are two different parts of your brain that are designed to do different things.

00:27:03.190 --> 00:27:14.910
Now, there's one part that is where your inspiration, your imagination, your creativity, your resourcefulness, your motivation, your intuition.

00:27:15.059 --> 00:27:23.599
It's when you get those little voices in your head, like the one that said to me, you know, maybe it'd be better if you, um, if you lost everything rather than lose your soul.

00:27:23.730 --> 00:27:27.130
You know, it's when, when we get that idea, I shouldn't be doing this.

00:27:27.440 --> 00:27:29.059
You know, how many people have we known?

00:27:29.390 --> 00:27:36.690
Maybe even ourselves, who've walked down the aisle and got married and thought, even when walking down the aisle, oops, I'm not sure I should, this is right.

00:27:37.170 --> 00:27:40.769
But we don't listen to that voice and we shut it down and we say, oh, you know, it'll be right.

00:27:40.769 --> 00:27:43.410
I'll make it happen and I'll succeed.

00:27:43.960 --> 00:27:45.980
So where do all these things come from?

00:27:45.980 --> 00:27:51.740
This is also the part of the brain that has been described by creative people throughout history.

00:27:51.819 --> 00:28:00.099
Well, they've tried to understand what this part is because People who are like inventors or creators or even artists and musicians.

00:28:00.309 --> 00:28:03.859
They've said there's some other place where they get their ideas from.

00:28:04.210 --> 00:28:04.579
Right.

00:28:04.589 --> 00:28:06.420
Steve Jobs from Apple Computer.

00:28:07.009 --> 00:28:18.839
He talked about this a lot, where he said, and most people have actually have said, I just got these ideas, I don't know where they came from, but it's like I'd wake up in the morning and I'd see this thing in my head.

00:28:20.065 --> 00:28:23.924
It didn't come from trying to figure it out and trying to work it out and planning and structure.

00:28:23.934 --> 00:28:25.295
It just came from somewhere else,

00:28:25.644 --> 00:28:25.994
right?

00:28:25.994 --> 00:28:33.184
You know, musicians, composers, it's interesting when you, when you read about, um, the creative process and there've been lots of songwriters.

00:28:33.184 --> 00:28:34.164
This is really fascinating.

00:28:34.174 --> 00:28:38.234
You can find them on YouTube when they're asked, where did you come up with the idea for that song?

00:28:38.234 --> 00:28:40.305
Where did you get that melody from that tune?

00:28:41.125 --> 00:28:43.454
And they always say no idea.

00:28:43.565 --> 00:28:45.325
It just came to me.

00:28:46.029 --> 00:28:58.829
So there's a part of your brain where all of that creativity, it's where, it's the part where you see opportunities, where you meet somebody, and again where synchronicity in all of its forms comes from as well.

00:28:59.490 --> 00:29:04.799
And when you're using that part of your brain, you are being the best that you can be.

00:29:04.829 --> 00:29:09.299
This is the state where we sometimes call being in the flow, being in the zone.

00:29:09.299 --> 00:29:12.825
I mean, have you ever been in that situation where You're just doing something.

00:29:12.825 --> 00:29:21.994
Maybe you're reading a book or you're writing something or you're speaking to someone and it's like something it's just all flowing and it's going really well and you're really enjoying yourself.

00:29:22.214 --> 00:29:25.134
You're not putting in all a whole lot of effort and it's not struggle.

00:29:25.434 --> 00:29:26.654
It's just flowing along.

00:29:26.845 --> 00:29:29.305
You know, athletes talk about their peak performance where.

00:29:29.865 --> 00:29:31.384
It's like something is flowing.

00:29:31.875 --> 00:29:34.684
That's actually our natural creative state.

00:29:34.714 --> 00:29:36.494
That's when we're super productive.

00:29:36.644 --> 00:29:42.325
That's when we sit down and write a book in a week or whatever, and we look at it and say, that's really good.

00:29:42.325 --> 00:29:42.984
What I just wrote.

00:29:42.984 --> 00:29:44.904
I don't know where it came from, but that's really good.

00:29:45.174 --> 00:29:46.164
And you make a,

00:29:46.724 --> 00:29:49.244
I was going to say you help people get into that state.

00:29:49.355 --> 00:29:50.134
It sounds like

00:29:51.674 --> 00:29:52.115
I do.

00:29:52.144 --> 00:29:58.244
And what, what's most important is I help people to realize that's our natural state and to stay in it.

00:29:58.680 --> 00:30:00.309
Pretty well, most of the time.

00:30:00.819 --> 00:30:01.599
And how do we get

00:30:01.710 --> 00:30:01.740
there?

00:30:01.740 --> 00:30:02.289
That's the difference.

00:30:03.130 --> 00:30:11.779
Well, it's by understanding there's another part of our brain that's, so when you realize that is your natural state, that this is a fact, a biological fact.

00:30:12.430 --> 00:30:14.980
Science has a word for this called homeostasis.

00:30:15.150 --> 00:30:18.170
Homeostasis means the optimum functioning of the organism.

00:30:18.609 --> 00:30:25.460
You are in homeostasis when you are in that state, when you're in the flow, you're putting an effort, but it's not struggle.

00:30:26.009 --> 00:30:29.519
But there's another part of our brain that keeps us in a struggle state.

00:30:30.309 --> 00:30:32.660
And that's the part when we're stressed.

00:30:33.279 --> 00:30:34.559
And nothing's going right.

00:30:34.869 --> 00:30:36.069
And we can't figure it out.

00:30:36.079 --> 00:30:38.240
We're sitting there going, I don't know what to do.

00:30:38.259 --> 00:30:39.220
What's the answer?

00:30:39.480 --> 00:30:40.740
How do I figure this out?

00:30:40.799 --> 00:30:43.069
I just can't seem to get it.

00:30:43.079 --> 00:30:45.240
What, how do I get rid of this problem?

00:30:45.500 --> 00:30:46.799
Why is this not working?

00:30:46.799 --> 00:30:48.279
What do I want in my life?

00:30:48.619 --> 00:30:49.920
Why am I so unhappy?

00:30:50.210 --> 00:30:51.039
Is that the, uh,

00:30:51.670 --> 00:30:53.867
the, the reptilian part of the brain?

00:30:53.867 --> 00:30:55.630
The, is it medulla oblongata?

00:30:56.680 --> 00:30:58.119
It's what I call the survival brain.

00:30:58.240 --> 00:30:58.680
Yes, the

00:30:58.680 --> 00:30:59.859
survival brain, yep.

00:31:00.700 --> 00:31:02.470
Biologically, it's at the back of your head.

00:31:02.750 --> 00:31:05.119
And it's designed to help you survive.

00:31:05.589 --> 00:31:13.744
But what it does is that when you're using this state It's, it's there to fight off enemies.

00:31:13.785 --> 00:31:22.555
It's there to protect you from threats and dangers, but it doesn't know anything about, it doesn't know anything about your higher purpose or solving problems in your life.

00:31:22.605 --> 00:31:23.625
All it knows how to do.

00:31:23.634 --> 00:31:28.835
It's like a 15 year old kid who's got, um, strong legs and strong arms.

00:31:28.835 --> 00:31:31.674
He's good at running away from danger and he's good at standing and fighting.

00:31:31.694 --> 00:31:34.755
That's all he's there to do to protect you from a danger.

00:31:35.494 --> 00:31:40.674
So, but most of us, what we're doing is we're staying stuck in that biological state.

00:31:41.230 --> 00:31:45.049
And we're trying to run our life from it, but it doesn't know how to run our life.

00:31:45.099 --> 00:31:50.430
All it knows, as I say, all it knows is how to, um, is how to run or fight,

00:31:50.579 --> 00:31:51.250
run away.

00:31:52.319 --> 00:31:52.630
Yeah.

00:31:52.630 --> 00:31:58.599
And when we're, the other most important thing to realize when we're essentially activated by something called the sympathetic nervous system.

00:31:58.680 --> 00:31:59.269
Yes.

00:31:59.299 --> 00:32:04.710
And when we activate that state, how our brain is telling us.

00:32:05.055 --> 00:32:06.595
There is a threat to your survival.

00:32:06.934 --> 00:32:12.515
You don't need your creativity, imagination, resourcefulness, intuition, motivation.

00:32:12.694 --> 00:32:15.375
All you need to do is react, to fight and run.

00:32:16.005 --> 00:32:22.775
And we express this in so many different ways because, of course, when we're in this state, there is nothing to fight.

00:32:23.144 --> 00:32:27.795
It's all in our head and so we're, but our brain is telling us there's something to fight.

00:32:28.015 --> 00:32:29.295
So it's making us react.

00:32:29.295 --> 00:32:30.694
It's making us shout at people.

00:32:30.694 --> 00:32:35.535
It's making us make the wrong decisions because it has no awareness on what to do.

00:32:35.795 --> 00:32:36.694
So the trick.

00:32:37.055 --> 00:32:37.325
Yeah.

00:32:37.325 --> 00:32:37.494
Okay.

00:32:37.585 --> 00:32:38.744
You were just about to get there.

00:32:38.744 --> 00:32:39.694
I'm like, how do we get there?

00:32:39.694 --> 00:32:40.125
Come on.

00:32:40.125 --> 00:32:40.644
I want to know.

00:32:40.654 --> 00:32:41.964
How do I get into a flow state?

00:32:42.154 --> 00:32:43.795
Well, how do you get people into the flow state?

00:32:45.414 --> 00:32:52.345
Well, it comes down to realizing what activates which part of the brain and what activates it is how you feel.

00:32:52.974 --> 00:32:53.494
It's done.

00:32:53.525 --> 00:32:54.075
This is done.

00:32:54.075 --> 00:32:54.755
Chemically.

00:32:55.740 --> 00:33:05.819
Another, so what happens in another part of your brain is that when it sees or thinks that there's a threat to your survival, it activates this part of your brain, the, the fighting part.

00:33:05.829 --> 00:33:07.259
Sometimes we call it fight flight.

00:33:07.789 --> 00:33:08.609
That's part of it.

00:33:09.049 --> 00:33:12.640
Um, and it shuts down the creative part of your brain.

00:33:13.230 --> 00:33:16.559
So what the switch is, what the trigger is, how, is how you feel.

00:33:17.109 --> 00:33:31.450
So whenever you feel stress, fear, worry, anxiety, whenever you feel negative, what's actually happening on a biological level, physically, to you, is you've activated this other part of your brain.

00:33:31.559 --> 00:33:42.285
This very limited, shut down, only fight the negative, The lion that's behind the rock, runaway part of your brain and you've, you've shut down all of the other, other part.

00:33:42.724 --> 00:33:53.075
So what, so what we need to learn to do, and this is what I teach people, is how to stop activating that part of the brain, how to stop activating fear, stress, worry, and anxiety.

00:33:53.505 --> 00:33:55.474
And most people say, well, that's all we offer you.

00:33:55.484 --> 00:33:59.005
How you're telling me, well, just don't feel fear, stress, worry, and anxiety.

00:33:59.005 --> 00:34:02.335
But what about me with all my problems and stress in my life?

00:34:02.880 --> 00:34:04.109
It's actually quite simple.

00:34:04.109 --> 00:34:13.519
There is a way to deal with your problems, deal with, and to deal with the lack of balance in your life without being overtaken by this part of your brain.

00:34:14.239 --> 00:34:18.599
And really, that's, um, this way, why I, what I do is show people how to do it.

00:34:18.599 --> 00:34:22.690
And then, much more often, you start using this part of your brain.

00:34:22.690 --> 00:34:40.315
And the irony is, if you've got problems, if you've got things that you're not happy about, if you don't have this perfect balance in every, every area of your life, which is what you're designed to have, Then if you use this other part of your brain, it's going to show you exactly what to do to solve the problems faster than you realize.

00:34:40.505 --> 00:34:44.324
Not just through your own actions, but through synchronicity.

00:34:44.534 --> 00:34:46.644
Sounds weird, but it's biological.

00:34:46.815 --> 00:35:08.070
So what are some tools, if you're willing to share, some tools that you use To help people get out of that, um, reptilian, that, uh, survival mindset, that fight or flight mindset, that frustration mindset, because there's a lot of distractions out there.

00:35:08.070 --> 00:35:13.570
You turn on the TV, you put on the news, uh, social media, there's a lot of fear mongering.

00:35:13.840 --> 00:35:21.929
And yes, it's important to be aware, but at the same time, like you said, it's going to Kill your creativity, especially, especially if you're like a builder type.

00:35:21.940 --> 00:35:35.719
If you're a success driven person, you want to build whether it be an empire for your family financially or, um, uh, holistically health wise, whatever you're trying to build, it's going to.

00:35:36.239 --> 00:35:38.829
you know, it's going to require creativity, right?

00:35:39.030 --> 00:35:45.010
Especially again, if you're a leader, because then you have to overcome that stuff because everybody else is running through it.

00:35:45.230 --> 00:35:54.230
So what are some tools, um, that you could share to give people an idea of how, um, you help people avoid those things?

00:35:55.480 --> 00:36:01.730
Well, you've actually, um, the answer to that, one of the answers is many different things you can do, many things you need to do.

00:36:02.039 --> 00:36:19.619
And a lot of these things come to come down to new habits, because We've actually developed the habit of being stuck in this part of the brain and not using the other part through the whole of our life through the way we've been taught the way life works through who we are and everything else.

00:36:20.000 --> 00:36:21.800
And you said something really interesting.

00:36:21.969 --> 00:36:26.300
That is a complete exact as an example of how that's completely untrue.

00:36:29.210 --> 00:36:30.679
But we just accept as true.

00:36:30.679 --> 00:36:36.050
And you say, Well, we know that watching the news is bad, but you have to be aware of these things.

00:36:36.239 --> 00:36:36.849
That's what you said.

00:36:37.119 --> 00:36:39.739
And what I'm saying is, why do you have to be aware of it?

00:36:39.789 --> 00:36:43.360
You don't even know if what you're watching on the news is true or not.

00:36:43.519 --> 00:36:44.539
Usually it isn't.

00:36:44.619 --> 00:36:46.230
Very truthful as a statement.

00:36:47.969 --> 00:36:52.400
What you see on the news is somebody's interpretation of what they would like you to believe, usually.

00:36:52.989 --> 00:36:58.420
So the whole, so being aware, what do you need to be aware of?

00:36:58.610 --> 00:37:01.170
The thing you need to be aware of is who you actually are.

00:37:01.710 --> 00:37:18.750
And how you're designed to have all of the right things happen to you and for you at exactly the right time so that you live your biological purpose by being the best that you can be so that you have the greatest chance of survival, which means being in the flow, having all of the right things happen to you.

00:37:19.300 --> 00:37:25.610
And that, you know, the interesting thing is I stopped watching the news when I became homeless and never watched it again after that mainstream.

00:37:25.969 --> 00:37:26.829
And isn't that funny?

00:37:26.829 --> 00:37:30.280
That's when my when my life really started to turn around was when I stopped.

00:37:31.449 --> 00:37:34.849
Having this need to fill my mind with negative stuff

00:37:35.579 --> 00:37:35.679
because

00:37:35.679 --> 00:37:49.050
that that is one of the if people want a tool or a, um, you know, quick technique and we're talking about a habit here and it's a little bit like if you want to lose weight, someone says, Well, what's a quick tip?

00:37:49.139 --> 00:37:55.210
Well, there is only one quick tip to losing weight, eat the right food, stop eating the wrong food and do some exercise.

00:37:55.280 --> 00:37:55.980
That's the tip.

00:37:56.420 --> 00:37:59.965
But doing it, It's not simple, not easy, is it?

00:38:00.014 --> 00:38:01.414
It's simple, but it's not easy.

00:38:01.835 --> 00:38:09.764
So the quick tip is stop putting stuff into your brain that's going to make you feel bad, because that's going to activate the wrong part of your brain.

00:38:10.605 --> 00:38:11.175
That's it.

00:38:11.724 --> 00:38:12.565
So that's simple.

00:38:12.755 --> 00:38:13.574
Is it easy?

00:38:13.844 --> 00:38:16.545
Because people have all sorts of justifications.

00:38:16.795 --> 00:38:20.425
Well, there are two types of triggers, if you like, that make us feel bad.

00:38:20.434 --> 00:38:23.764
One is external triggers, and the other is internal triggers.

00:38:24.195 --> 00:38:26.094
And the external ones are easier to deal with.

00:38:26.150 --> 00:38:33.800
Um, but people have all sorts of justifications not to stop negative stuff coming in their life.

00:38:34.309 --> 00:38:39.329
So, you know, for example, I have to watch the news because I have to be aware of what's going on.

00:38:39.710 --> 00:38:46.989
That's that's one where I have to talk to that person, or I have to be in that relationship with that person, or I have to have that person in my life.

00:38:47.480 --> 00:38:54.179
Because they're my wife or my husband or my employer or my employee, you know, I can't just dump them.

00:38:55.170 --> 00:39:00.820
So we have all these justifications for hanging on to things that aren't good for us in our life.

00:39:01.059 --> 00:39:10.969
And that don't serve us, they don't activate, enable us to activate what is essentially an infinitely powerful machine, our brain, to ensure that the right things happen.

00:39:10.969 --> 00:39:17.190
So that's the first thing we have to do is stop the negative stuff going in from the outside.

00:39:17.219 --> 00:39:18.059
And we can do that.

00:39:18.574 --> 00:39:21.355
You know, we can, even simple things.

00:39:21.355 --> 00:39:29.494
You're having a conversation with somebody and you don't like, you don't like talk to them or the subject you're talking about, you know, you're, it's not making you feel good.

00:39:29.534 --> 00:39:40.804
You're talking about the election or the war or some war and some disaster that's bound to befall the human race, you know, and like every disaster, it's probably one that's never going to come true.

00:39:40.804 --> 00:39:41.815
None of them ever have.

00:39:42.505 --> 00:39:44.215
Um, you know, we're supposed to be, uh, yeah.

00:39:44.570 --> 00:39:45.139
When was it?

00:39:45.539 --> 00:39:46.869
2012.

00:39:46.869 --> 00:39:54.780
I think all of the the ice caps were going to collapse and it was going to be so much CO2 in the atmosphere that we'd all be dead by 2012.

00:39:56.210 --> 00:39:58.369
So none of these things actually ever come true.

00:39:58.369 --> 00:40:00.639
But so you do have the choice.

00:40:00.989 --> 00:40:13.969
Not to put your focus and attention by being very mindful and saying, the most important thing is how's this making me feel the situation or this conversation or this, even just this thought, how's it making me feel?

00:40:14.710 --> 00:40:16.500
And if it's not making you feel good, you've stopped.

00:40:16.570 --> 00:40:19.360
You've got to stop putting the fuel in.

00:40:19.369 --> 00:40:22.150
That's going to keep you stuck in the wrong part of your brain.

00:40:22.440 --> 00:40:22.860
Mm hmm.

00:40:23.010 --> 00:40:23.320
Yeah.

00:40:23.349 --> 00:40:24.050
No, I agree.

00:40:24.199 --> 00:40:24.750
I agree.

00:40:25.210 --> 00:40:33.889
And, right, it's that challenge of self management and like, I like what you said where it's all about knowing yourself.

00:40:33.960 --> 00:40:35.349
I'm all for that.

00:40:35.489 --> 00:40:42.809
If you know yourself, it's easier to self regulate, self manage with what you're exposing yourself to.

00:40:43.389 --> 00:40:45.559
Um, I do have a question though.

00:40:46.030 --> 00:40:53.824
If we're going along the lines of, Let's say going against the grain or what you would think you should do.

00:40:54.144 --> 00:40:57.795
A lot of people say that you need to set goals.

00:40:58.175 --> 00:41:04.824
And if I were to quote you, right, you said setting goals is unnatural and sabotages your success.

00:41:05.025 --> 00:41:17.335
I know we're coming down to the bottom of the hour, but I want to, I wanted to bring that question up and maybe briefly you can kind of, I know it's a loaded question, but maybe you can briefly give us like an idea of the why behind that.

00:41:18.650 --> 00:41:32.369
Well, I think there's, you know, I, I spent decades in the goal setting thing and as I explained in the end it didn't do me any good because losing everything and becoming homeless and even living a life where I was full of stress, that wasn't on any goals list.

00:41:32.530 --> 00:41:39.750
I had plenty of goals that I didn't achieve and plenty of goals, well, plenty of things that I did achieve that I didn't want.

00:41:40.090 --> 00:41:45.289
So we have to be honest and say, Is goal setting, does it really work?

00:41:45.670 --> 00:41:55.840
And everybody I've talked to and, and books I've read, the, the people who are honest and who've looked into this say that the actual success rate around goal setting is between two and 3%.

00:41:56.280 --> 00:41:58.210
It's not, not everybody's sitting.

00:41:58.480 --> 00:42:02.570
So if you're doing something that has a 2 percent success rate, why are you doing it?

00:42:02.670 --> 00:42:03.610
It doesn't work.

00:42:04.000 --> 00:42:11.179
And there's a biological and scientific reason why it doesn't work, because you don't know what you really want.

00:42:11.719 --> 00:42:13.280
I mean, if people really think about this.

00:42:13.710 --> 00:42:14.289
Couple of things.

00:42:14.289 --> 00:42:21.695
Firstly, how many of the things in your life important things or think of something really important that happened that was life changing.

00:42:22.425 --> 00:42:34.385
Maybe it was meeting your partner or spouse or getting married to who you married or a business or a career opportunity and what you realize is none of those things were on a goals list.

00:42:34.494 --> 00:42:40.934
You didn't say I'm going to marry this person and this is what they're going to look like and I'm going to marry them on this date or meet them on this date.

00:42:41.244 --> 00:42:42.195
They just showed up.

00:42:42.405 --> 00:42:45.394
So the most important things show up in your life.

00:42:45.750 --> 00:42:51.210
At the time they're supposed to show up, and you hope they're good things, and if you're using your brain the right way, they will be good things.

00:42:51.539 --> 00:42:52.570
That's what I've discovered.

00:42:53.150 --> 00:42:54.320
But your brain works

00:42:54.679 --> 00:42:55.559
Right there.

00:42:55.940 --> 00:42:59.889
What's supposed to show up in your life is going to show up when it's supposed to.

00:43:01.030 --> 00:43:04.369
I want to pull, where do you feel that's coming from?

00:43:04.380 --> 00:43:07.269
Do you think that's a subconscious thing?

00:43:07.340 --> 00:43:09.809
Because you're saying showing up, so that's outside of you.

00:43:10.059 --> 00:43:20.349
Would you say, would you ever, in your description of things, inject some type of spiritual energy, as in something beyond you is assisting you?

00:43:20.409 --> 00:43:24.190
Because that's it, that phrase kind of signifies that for me.

00:43:25.960 --> 00:43:26.760
Well, there definitely is.

00:43:26.760 --> 00:43:31.519
However, you want to describe it as spirituality and infinite intelligence, God.

00:43:32.210 --> 00:43:36.210
There is this infinite intelligence, and it must be infinite, and it must be intelligent.

00:43:36.730 --> 00:43:41.610
And, but our, our connection to that, if you like, is this part of the brain.

00:43:41.980 --> 00:43:52.329
This is where we get this, not only this information from, it's where you get the new ideas from, or the inspiration, or completely new way of doing something.

00:43:53.360 --> 00:43:54.389
Where's that coming from?

00:43:54.429 --> 00:43:58.690
It is coming from a, uh, um, not your own self.

00:43:58.809 --> 00:44:05.769
It's coming from outside of you, but your connection to that, the channel, if you like, is this part of your brain.

00:44:06.059 --> 00:44:14.190
And religious traditions talk about this in great detail about you are connected to this higher power, but you're only connected when you use this part of your brain.

00:44:14.429 --> 00:44:18.500
In other words, when you're not feeling afraid, the Bible says, be not afraid.

00:44:19.409 --> 00:44:20.699
Do not worry about tomorrow.

00:44:20.699 --> 00:44:22.019
Tomorrow will take care of itself.

00:44:22.019 --> 00:44:24.679
It's telling us, you don't need to be afraid.

00:44:24.739 --> 00:44:26.690
Do not worry about what you shall eat, drink or wear.

00:44:26.690 --> 00:44:27.949
It'll be provided for you.

00:44:28.139 --> 00:44:31.099
It's saying that because that's how it works.

00:44:31.489 --> 00:44:38.260
But if, when you are afraid you're stuck in the wrong part and you're literally blocking off all this inspiration and creativity.

00:44:38.969 --> 00:44:42.960
So rather than set a goal, because what are you doing when you're setting a goal?

00:44:42.960 --> 00:44:46.530
You're sitting there using the wrong part of your brain and you're going, I'm not happy.

00:44:46.699 --> 00:44:48.039
What do I need to be happy?

00:44:48.594 --> 00:44:49.485
What do I want?

00:44:49.585 --> 00:44:50.505
Why aren't I happy?

00:44:50.505 --> 00:44:51.594
How do I figure it out?

00:44:52.045 --> 00:44:52.875
You don't know.

00:44:52.945 --> 00:44:55.244
That part of your brain has no clue what you want.

00:44:55.704 --> 00:45:02.034
The other part of your brain does, this inspirational part, and it will make sure that you do the right things at the right time.

00:45:02.735 --> 00:45:28.355
But if you think about it from a biological point of view, one of the things that you, when you study biology, in this evolutionary sort of way about how things work, is you realize nature has spent billions of years ironing out all the kinks and finding the most efficient way to do everything so that everything has the greatest chance for survival is the best that it can be in the easiest, most efficient way possible.

00:45:28.375 --> 00:45:30.375
It's had billions of years to work all that out.

00:45:30.735 --> 00:45:37.135
So all this idea of struggle and stress, it's figured all that, that that doesn't work and it's found better processes.

00:45:37.679 --> 00:45:39.349
to make things work.

00:45:39.980 --> 00:45:44.750
And here's the thing about biological, what I call the law of biological efficiency.

00:45:44.929 --> 00:45:56.210
What is the most efficient way to make you sure that you get everything that you need in your life in a totally balanced way to be truly fulfilled, truly happy, and to say, you know, I really am being the best that I can be.

00:45:56.530 --> 00:45:58.269
And my life is flowing and in the zone.

00:45:58.550 --> 00:46:06.590
The most efficient way for your brain or this intelligence to show you and to tell you what you should be doing is to show you the very next step.

00:46:07.144 --> 00:46:08.005
Nothing else.

00:46:08.994 --> 00:46:15.514
That, and you know, this ties into mindfulness, which is about being in the present moment and simply taking the next step.

00:46:16.025 --> 00:46:33.684
Now your brain, because you imagine if your brain said to you, right, your goal, your ultimate goal, what's really going to make you happy, Liam, is sailing on a yacht around Europe for eight years and visiting 15 different countries and just traveling around any port while you're running several businesses online.

00:46:34.284 --> 00:46:38.385
Now, if, if that came to me as a goal 15 years ago, whenever it was.

00:46:38.715 --> 00:46:39.994
I would have said, that's ridiculous.

00:46:40.545 --> 00:46:46.465
Now, not only because I didn't think it could happen, but I didn't even know if that's what I wanted, you know?

00:46:46.844 --> 00:46:53.284
So that's why my brain would, and what would I have done if my brain had shown me that, shown me the goal?

00:46:53.485 --> 00:46:55.014
I would have resisted it.

00:46:55.235 --> 00:46:56.605
I said, no, that's not right.

00:46:56.644 --> 00:47:04.505
I don't want, no, I, and I was wasted all that time, all that energy, physical, biological energy, rather than getting on and working towards the goal.

00:47:04.824 --> 00:47:08.074
That's also why it never shows you the next 5, 10, 20 steps.

00:47:08.474 --> 00:47:09.844
Because what are you going to do?

00:47:09.855 --> 00:47:11.514
You're going to analyze.

00:47:11.545 --> 00:47:13.914
You're going to say, well, I'm not sure if that's going to work.

00:47:14.045 --> 00:47:18.985
Um, but hang on, if I do that, if I do that, what happens if that happens?

00:47:19.014 --> 00:47:20.235
Well, maybe that will happen.

00:47:20.605 --> 00:47:23.304
Uh, you're wasting all that time, all that energy.

00:47:23.315 --> 00:47:28.284
So your brain literally biologically is only ever going to show you, it's designed to show you the next step.

00:47:28.735 --> 00:47:37.394
And I've talked to billionaires who've said to me, we've just, I've discussed this with, and they've all said, yeah, I didn't have my success on a goals list.

00:47:38.429 --> 00:47:40.730
I literally just did what I did.

00:47:40.789 --> 00:47:42.019
I don't know how it showed up.

00:47:42.690 --> 00:47:43.269
And that's the thing.

00:47:43.269 --> 00:47:45.159
If you have a goals list, you're limiting yourself.

00:47:45.619 --> 00:47:51.929
And that's why so many of the times when people have a goal, even if they achieve it, like I used to, didn't make me happy anyway.

00:47:52.469 --> 00:47:53.989
And I was like, well, what was the point of this?

00:47:54.019 --> 00:47:55.719
It's not really what I thought it would be.

00:47:56.210 --> 00:48:02.590
Because I wasn't allowing, I wasn't doing, you know, the most efficient way to ensure that I ended up where I was supposed to end up.

00:48:02.994 --> 00:48:04.894
Not where I thought I was supposed to end up.

00:48:04.965 --> 00:48:05.164
Big

00:48:05.164 --> 00:48:05.644
difference.

00:48:05.724 --> 00:48:07.534
That's a powerful statement right there.

00:48:07.554 --> 00:48:14.675
And I, I agree with that thought process of, Hey, you know what?

00:48:15.744 --> 00:48:24.144
It would make sense, especially if you as a being, as a person, maybe live majority in the survival mindset.

00:48:24.485 --> 00:48:32.730
And so that part, those times where you dip into the, Thriving part of the brain.

00:48:32.730 --> 00:48:35.269
It's like, all right, we're, we're going to give you the next step.

00:48:35.719 --> 00:48:36.710
Don't mess this up.

00:48:37.380 --> 00:48:49.659
I'm not going to give you step two, three, three, two, three, four, five, and six, because especially if you're living majority of the time in survival mode, that next step is going to get demolished by your survival mode thinking.

00:48:49.659 --> 00:48:54.059
So let me just give you step one and just, you know, one step at a time.

00:48:54.179 --> 00:48:55.400
And it's interesting.

00:48:56.380 --> 00:48:59.440
I'm remembering these.

00:49:00.175 --> 00:49:05.355
Phrases from people of the past saying, just take one step at a time.

00:49:05.355 --> 00:49:05.554
Right.

00:49:05.554 --> 00:49:10.894
But, uh, was it a thousand mile journey starts with one step at a time.

00:49:11.534 --> 00:49:15.625
And if you're trying to go upstairs, you have to go one step at a time.

00:49:15.625 --> 00:49:18.764
You can't just, you're going to pull a hamstring or something.

00:49:18.764 --> 00:49:24.675
If you try to skip like more than three and then you don't know how you got there, you're going to fall backwards, blah, blah.

00:49:25.065 --> 00:49:27.684
And I like how you phrase that.

00:49:27.684 --> 00:49:28.664
So that's pretty cool.

00:49:29.085 --> 00:49:32.760
Um, Well, lots of really good tips.

00:49:32.900 --> 00:50:17.275
I think the theme of today definitely was around Staying the one importance of being in that thriving mentality that flow state and how the brain naturally Would like you to get there but we for the most part tend to live most of the time in that survival mentality and it's My takeaway is when I heard you talking about the billions and billions of years that, uh, Earth and, and just, uh, I want not society, but more of like life itself has been re redoing and reinventing itself and recreating itself, uh, for the best way of survival.

00:50:17.275 --> 00:50:24.755
And I feel like us as humanity, um, we're at that cusp of not needing that we are here.

00:50:25.579 --> 00:50:30.940
To learn the next step, which is living mostly.

00:50:31.335 --> 00:50:53.695
In that flow state and it's that bridging between the old way of doing things in a new way of doing things is where you come into play and I appreciate you doing the things that you do and putting all that time and energy into figuring out what the heck we can do and thank you for, um, having that horrible experience for us so that you can share us, um, your, your golden nuggets.

00:50:54.025 --> 00:50:59.434
Uh, as, as we finished today, is there anything that, um, you would like to close with?

00:51:00.920 --> 00:51:14.519
Uh, I'll, uh, before we get into how to connect with you, is there anything that we might not have, uh, mentioned or that you felt like we, we could have, uh, spoken about very briefly as we close out today?

00:51:16.110 --> 00:51:27.000
Well, I guess the, the thought, if you like, that I'd really like to leave people with is to realize that actually life is not supposed to be difficult.

00:51:27.994 --> 00:51:44.414
We have, and it's a really difficult thing, if you forgive the pun, for people to accept, but if you look in the natural world, really look in the natural world, a tree is a tree, a plant is a plant, it's doing, an animal is an animal, doing what it's designed to do to the best of its ability.

00:51:44.994 --> 00:51:56.364
And nature, as you just mentioned, nature's worked it all out, how to make every living thing work without stress problems and struggle in the most efficient way.

00:51:56.655 --> 00:52:01.594
So the only real difficulty, if you like, that we have is accepting that.

00:52:02.375 --> 00:52:06.235
And the only way you can accept that is if you start to understand it.

00:52:06.235 --> 00:52:07.574
And I've tried to give people.

00:52:07.909 --> 00:52:12.829
a little bit of an inkling about the facts, the truth about how nature is set up.

00:52:13.090 --> 00:52:31.679
But when you finally click, and this is what I do when I work with people, either one on one or in my coaching program that I have, when people get this, when they finally get it, and sometimes it takes people a bit more time than others, some people get it really quickly, and this isn't a judgment on people, it's just, you know, where you're at.

00:52:31.960 --> 00:52:41.074
But when you really get this, that there's another part of your brain that literally will take over and lead you down the fastest and easiest path To being your best, that's what it's designed to do.

00:52:41.094 --> 00:52:48.025
When you really get it, that's when you can start to really see some progress in your life and really see some changes.

00:52:48.389 --> 00:52:52.340
And reach the life you're supposed to have, which is not without problems and stress.

00:52:52.860 --> 00:53:10.039
And then you prove to yourself, like I did for me, that all the stuff that we've been talked about, the life's a struggle, you have to work hard, and you know, there's always going to be problems, and nothing's perfect, and you have to learn more and get more information, and you know, you realize that none of that is either true or helpful.

00:53:10.510 --> 00:53:11.699
But there is another way to live.

00:53:11.699 --> 00:53:13.320
But you can only prove it to yourself.

00:53:13.699 --> 00:53:17.480
When you experience it, and that's my mission, is to help people experience it.

00:53:17.869 --> 00:53:19.639
As I say, when you do, you never go back.

00:53:19.840 --> 00:53:26.349
And your life, as many people I've helped have said, you know, they're like, Wow, I never thought my life could be like this.

00:53:26.400 --> 00:53:27.150
What's going on?

00:53:27.239 --> 00:53:28.449
Well, they know what's going on.

00:53:28.989 --> 00:53:31.289
But it literally does create a transformation.

00:53:31.289 --> 00:53:34.769
And then you feel, Yes, this is what I'm here for.

00:53:35.309 --> 00:53:36.519
It's not an intellectual thing.

00:53:36.519 --> 00:53:37.619
It's a knowing thing.

00:53:38.360 --> 00:53:39.480
This is, this is great.

00:53:39.480 --> 00:53:42.099
This is my life working the way I've always dreamed that it should.

00:53:42.860 --> 00:53:45.500
This is my, uh, my dream life.

00:53:45.949 --> 00:53:46.440
I love it.

00:53:47.320 --> 00:53:56.739
So if anybody were to connect with you and they want to know more about your coaching, um, your one on one services and what you're working on right now, how do people connect with you?

00:53:57.289 --> 00:53:57.719
What's the best way?

00:53:57.719 --> 00:53:58.039
Just go

00:53:58.039 --> 00:54:00.860
to, just go to my website, liamnayden.

00:54:00.889 --> 00:54:01.239
com.

00:54:02.250 --> 00:54:12.059
I've actually got an interesting webinar, little sort of a mini course there at the moment, which goes into more detail in some more ideas and strategies on how to simply and easily start to.

00:54:12.135 --> 00:54:17.054
You get an experience of this and you, you know, start to see it working in your life.

00:54:17.324 --> 00:54:21.914
Because when you see it working, when you've got some proof, then you know this is the way to go.

00:54:21.945 --> 00:54:23.284
And it really is the only way to go.

00:54:23.565 --> 00:54:25.355
That's all on my website, liamnadin.

00:54:25.394 --> 00:54:25.695
com.

00:54:26.255 --> 00:54:27.324
Awesome stuff, man.

00:54:27.864 --> 00:54:31.545
thank you for, uh, showing, showing up and sharing your wisdom.

00:54:31.554 --> 00:54:32.255
I appreciate you.

00:54:33.025 --> 00:54:34.375
Thanks so much for having me, Jonathan.
