In this episode I am talking to James McConchie about all things mushrooms. From the benefits of all of the different varieties of mushrooms out there to psilocybin mushrooms. We will also be talking about the vote on June 4th to decriminalize psychedelics in California.

Here is a little bit about James:
*
1 YEAR OF TREATMENT, 1 YEAR OF WAITING, 1 YEAR OF ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION…
*
The level of pressure, fear, and uncertainty during cancer treatment - in James’ case, also with a one year old baby - is immense. The person battling the disease deals with the physical and mental effects of the treatment. They also manage the medical systems, support systems and reactions of family and friends.
*
The time after active treatment is incredibly uncertain. No one knows why the cancer happened, or if it can come back. There is no graduation from treatment. (Inactive treatment continues indefinitely with more infusions and drugs). While his wife went through post-treatment therapy, James also looked for solutions for his depression, fear, and anxiety .
*
During the cancer treatment, James learned about a study at Johns Hopkins with cancer patients and Psilocybin mushrooms. The hypothesis was that the post Psilocybin “transformative” experience might help patients deal with the anxiety and fear of death common during cancer treatment.
*
Soon after, James found an opportunity to work with Psilocybin mushrooms for his own anxiety and fear of losing his partner. With an experienced guide and calm setting, he had his own transformative experiences. His depression and anxiety went away. (See more about the legalization efforts for Psilocybin here)
*
James founded the Haight Street Shroom Shoppe to educate others about the power of mushrooms: how they grow; their healing properties; and their history and future. All of us at HSSS look forward to sharing this remarkable journey with you.

PSYCHEDELICS, PSILOCYBIN MUSHROOMS, AND THE POWER TO CHANGE YOUR MIND.
*
Terence McKenna once said “We have been to the moon, we have charted the depths of the ocean and the heart of the atom, but we have a fear of looking inward to ourselves because we sense that is where all the contradictions flow together.”
