This week on the Original Sports Podcast with Mark Maradei is author Marshall Jon Fisher. Fisher, who hails from Ithaca, New York, grew up in Miami, and graduated from Brandeis University. He worked as a sportswriter in Miami and a tennis pro in Munich before moving to New York City then onto Boston.
From 1995 to 2001 he wrote on a variety of topics for The Atlantic Monthly, ranging from wooden tennis rackets to Internet fraud. He penned two books with his father, David E. Fisher, "Tube: the Invention of Television" in 1996 and their second book together, "Strangers in the Night: a Brief History of Life on Other Worlds" in 1998)
He continued to write and have published several more books on how and in the summer of ‘22 he released "Seventeen and Oh: Miami, 1972, and the NFL's Only Perfect Season." to celebrate 50 years to the date of the first undefeated NFL season.
We will talk with Fisher about his early years of writing and his passion for tennis. Working with his father and his current book that highlights the Miami Dolphins undefeated 1972 season.
