On this episode of the Steel City Nation podcast I talk hockey with three Rabid Lifelong Hockey fans.
Eric Rigsby is a hockey lifer-a player, a parent, a coach, and a fan-in that order. He has been involved in the game since he babysat the neighbors' kids to earn money for his first pair of rollerblades when he was 12.As a player, Eric is a former college club player turned beer leaguer in the Old Fat Bald Guys Hockey League and Skate Frederick Adult Hockey League in Frederick, MD.
He briefly dabbled in the blogosphere running a Caps-focused blog during the Rock The Red era, covering the team, NHL stories, and the local, DC-area hockey community.
Eric can be found on Twitter @ericrigsb (somewhat active;mostly just retweeting interesting coaching points) and Instagram @ericrigsb (some photography with the occasional hockey related post).
Maryland native Jonny Walker has been around the sport of hockey the vast majority of his life as a rabid fan, player and coach. He started playing at a young age in local youth programs until he wound up in men’s league full time. His family are Pittsburgh transplants and he followed suit supporting the Pirates, Steelers and especially the Penguins at all points of the year. During non-hockey season he has gotten further down the rabbit hole of golf in recent years and Doesn’t mind the occasional cocktail or cigar either.
Tony Figorski is Philadelphia, Born and raised. Became a rabid fan of the Flyers and hockey when I was 7 started playing on ice when I was 9, always a defenseman, played through high school and in the Men's league for many years. Tony’s favorite Flyers memory is the 1987 playoffs, he loved Ron Hextall. His favorite hockey moment was USA beating Russia in 1980 Tony’s favorite all-time Flyers player is Eric Lindros and his favorite NHL player is The French Connection line. He still loves the Flyers and hockey today and favorite player from the current team is Ivan Provorov.
In a roundtable format we will discuss the upcoming NHL playoffs. Addressing the format used, the teams involved, key players from each team as well as positives and negatives that each team has surrounding their potential run at lifting Lord Stanley’s Cup.
