Insight from the Inside: Pittsburgh Sports Report former editor Tony Defazio

On this episode,Steel City Nation podcast Mark Maradei speaks with Tony Defazio. DeFazio is the former editor of The Pittsburgh Sports Report, Pittsburgh's longest-published sports newspaper. The Sports Report was a monthly newspaper pand online publication from 1996 through 2016. In addition to his duties as editor, DeFazio was the Pitt football and basketball beat writer from 2010 through 2016 and was a frequent guest on several Pennsylvania radio and TV shows. He continues to appear on PA Sports Now Radio every Saturday morning at 9.

We will discuss his career highlights as a multi sport columnist/editor and his current connection to the world of sports. We will talk about how he feels in regards to the return of collegiate and professional sports now that we are reintroducing sports in this phase of Covid 19 pandemic. He will share some of his favorite players and just exactly what drove Tony to wanting to be a sports writer. Tony will share with us what he is currently doing today and if he has any intentions of fully submerging into his sports reporter career path again. Tony’s Decade Definers will center on the five best games he has ever covered in any sport.
