Spring Training Preview featuring former MLB catcher Michael McKenry

Our guest this week on the Steel City Nation podcast is Michael McKenry. McKenry nicknamed "The Fort", is a former professional baseball catcher who played Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Colorado Rockies, and St. Louis Cardinals, Atlanta Braves, Milawakee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays.McKenry was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 7th round of the 2006 Major League Baseball Draft. In 2010, while playing for the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, McKenry was called up to the Rockies in September. He made his major league debut on September 8, 2010. On March 29, 2011, McKenry was traded to the Boston Red Sox. On February 9, 2018, the Pittsburgh Pirates announced that McKenry would serve as a studio analyst on the team's pregame and postgame shows. We will talk with Michael about the 2020 Pirate season including the highlights and lowlights.What the draft looks like for next year since the Pirates will be selecting the first overall pick. How the team will differ in 2021 with the additions and subtractions via free agency and if he sees any potential trades on the horizon for the Pirates. We will ask Michael to share with us during our Decade Definers segment who were the most influential teammates that he played with during his professional career.
