Franco Harris, the Hall of Fame running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League died on December 20th, 2022. Just days before his number 32 was to be retired by the Steelers organization that he won four Super Bowl titles with in the 1970's. Almost 50 years to the day that Franco was the central part of the greatest play in NFL history. 'The Immaculate Reception'. Born and raised in Pittsburgh during this glorious time, Papamutes reminisces what it was like to grow up and have a first hand experience of Franco's powerful impact on a down and out city with a historically bad football team. Listen to classic audio from the game and a now tear jerking Hall of Fame speech by Franco himself. This tribute is not to just a great player, but more importantly a great man.
