After my son, Jordon, was born, I felt that all-to-common push/pull between my corporate work and being there for my new baby. So, when he was about 18 months old, I made the brave move of starting my own business, Flint Stone Media, as my answer to that age-old motherhood conundrum. And, as a single mom, I would quickly learn that being a newly-minted entrepreneur is not for the faint of heart. But, this HAD to be my answer, because my corporate path had never really worked for me.

Well, I realized after a few years of already being in the entrepreneurial trenches that my son had given me the determination that lit the fire under my butt for every meeting, every late night, and every reach for the dream. The constant task of having to balance everything, having to constantly think outside the box to make ends meet, to keep going and working when I felt the most defeated, how I tapped into resources to make things happen; etc etc… ALL of those parenthood superpowers were showing up in my business.

So. I KNEW that I could pair my longtime business background with my newfound motherhood skills and build something BIG with my business, give myself the independence I have always craved, and leave a legacy for my son. I pulled together all of my grit and fortitude from being a single mom and having to do ALL the things and poured it into building a podcasting company I could be proud of and use to help support OTHER people’s dreams.

And that makes ME a Power Mom!!

Becoming a mom to someone who has heard your heart literally from the inside, starts the process of bringing out into the world your superpower of being a Power Mom. Being a Power Mom to me is letting go to witness the child born from within you grow. Struggling to speak until the age of 6, the power mom within me exploded as I navigated life as a divorced autism mom all before my oldest turned 3. Balancing a corporate career and a sharing schedule with a child who had an inspiring mind but with little verbal communication, strengthened my ability to develop the superpower to communicate through pictures and story telling. Taking this skill into my role as a 3rd generation financial expert, linked both how my father drew out finances for me into an expanded version I continue to use even as my son is now almost 20.

Becoming a mother again at the later age of 38 to a very athletic child with allergies taught me how to Power up my body to another level through whole foods, breathing techniques and other healing techniques to transform a mom who was once driven by Badge of Busy in Worry to embracing overall the Power within being overall Wealthy.

Becoming a Bonus Mom of 4 boys when I blended my family at the age of 48 to then becoming a caregiver to my new husband only one month after our blended family wedding brought out another level of being a Power Mom in navigating financially protecting the overall wealth of our families in each stage of life. It has ignited my passion to teach our children financial literacy and wealth building to be financially prepared and persevering in power through each change in their lives.

I started writing and rewriting my Power Moms story so many times that I’ve lost count at this point. To be honest, I think that alone is a big part of my story. The journey of an introverted perfectionist who becomes a parent, and realizes that she has to make some changes to be the parent she wants to be.

When I first became a mom I struggled. All the time. Looking back there was some very real trauma that happened in the process, but also there were a lot of things that I needed to address on the inside in order to feel good about myself and my life. Amidst the turbulence, a profound realization emerged: this journey held the potential for deep personal growth, an experience of transformative significance.

Motherhood, unexpectedly, became the catalyst for self-discovery and development. It empowered me to let go of minor concerns, release the constant noise of self-criticism, and go beyond my comfort zone. While the seeds of this transformation were certainly sown during therapy, it blossomed in earnest following the birth of my first child and has continued to this day.

For me, embracing the mantle of a Power Mom isn't solely about fulfilling parental duties; it's a wholehearted commitment fueled by my children—a source of boundless inspiration and motivation. I strive to embody an example that empowers and guides them toward their true potential.

Through this experience of becoming a parent, I've emerged as a healthier, happier, and more fulfilled individual, enriched immeasurably by the unexpected gifts of motherhood—a journey that allowed me to blossom into my truest self.

More than anything I have always wanted to be a mom. I think I knew I wanted to be a mom in my heart before I could put it into words.

After my first son was born it was alike having a puzzle piece slide into place. That isn’t to say that being a mother isn’t incredibly difficult and hard, in fact it is the hardest thing I have ever done. With each of my boys, another piece of me slid into place.

Thanks to being a Power Mom I have held expectations for myself and my life to a higher level. I have demanded more of my jobs, my marriage, and my goals. Thanks to my boys I have made extra hard decisions, upended our lives, and rebuilt our happy place. My boys have shown me strength and courage and celebrated my successes.

When you have a cheering committee that look up to you and love you unconditionally who you love unconditionally, you truly can feel powerful.
