All of my mentors over the years have been brilliant; but, they have also almost exclusively been men. And, as brilliant as their advice always was, I always had to filter their suggested courses of action through my lense of motherhood.
Even in 2023, we women still handle most of the parenting responsibilities in the household. (And, if you are a single mom like me, then that is ALL the responsibilities!) So, I had to work my action items around a kid with a fever, school activities, birthday parties, etc etc.... Or, I couldn't make a conference, because I had to pay for a school trip or didn't have any options for caring for my son in my absence.
Everything is a MILLION times harder, when being a mom is an added layer. Let's be REAL.
As I said in a social audio room today, as much as I love the advice from my brothers, we really need great advice from fellow MOTHERS. So, let's band together and lift each other up!!
