This is what I was hoping for. My Pop, 86 years old, a retired restauranteur that vaguely hears about the solar industry through me, just listened to the first two Probably True Solar Stories, which have to do with a solar developer stealing his own solar panels after they've been confiscated by customs. It's a traditional heist story, but with solar panels instead of cash, diamonds, or gold.
The exciting part is that after my 13 years in the solar business, Pop finally understood large-scale solar development challenges, the 30% ITC, and the risks of importing solar modules--while having a good time learning about it through a fictional solar story. And we had a good conversation that wasn't about politics (he's conservative.)
If you've got non-solar pro family members who don't get what you do as a solar developer, EPC, or installer, share these first two episodes. If my 86-year old dad gets it, they probably will too.
