Introduction:
As a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, an Assemblies of God Minister, and host of the “Renegadez: Men of Faith & Fortitude” podcast, I’ve faced battles on and off the field. Today, I share a chapter from my life’s book, a testament to struggle and triumph, loss and recovery, despair and hope.
The Call to Service and the Test of War:
Born and raised in the small town of Silver City, NM, my journey took a decisive turn when I answered the call to serve. The Marine Corps not only shaped me but also tested me in the crucible of Iraq.
The Homecoming:
Returning home, I believed I could leave the war behind. Instead, I found myself fighting invisible enemies: PTSD, anxiety, depression. These battles nearly claimed me.
The Downward Spiral:
Denial led to a long, destructive path. Cocaine, bars, and the roar of a motorcycle – they were refuges that turned into prisons. The pinnacle of my despair was an early discharge from the Marines, leaving me feeling like a failure to my wife and family.
The Awakening:
At rock bottom, I found strength. It was in the solitude of a jail cell and the loss of my father that I learned life’s fragility and God’s grace.
The Path to Redemption:
From the depths of despair, I chose to rise. This decision led me back to the faith that had been my cornerstone and into the ministry that now offered solace to others.
Creating a Community of Faith and Fortitude:
My podcast, “Renegadez: Men of Faith & Fortitude,” was born from a calling to guide men through the tumult of modern society while staying true to their spiritual compass.
Conclusion:
I now stand as a beacon for those still navigating through their darkest hours. This blog post, this story, is for you – to show that no matter the depth of the fall, the climb back up is always possible.
