Alexander Mikhailovsky was born in Sydney, Australia, and, along with his family, immigrated to the United States, settling in Elmwood Park, New Jersey in 2000. After completing his high school education, he enlisted in the United States Army Reserve in July 2013 and attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He subsequently attended Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Lee, Virginia, where he acquired the Military Occupational Specialty of 92Y, Unit Supply Specialist, in October 2013.
Upon completion of AIT, he was assigned to the 5/98th Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Battalion in Edison, New Jersey. There, he refined his technical skills as the unit supply clerk. His exemplary performance led to his promotion and assignment as the Supply Sergeant for the 422nd Medical Veterinary Detachment in Rockville, Maryland. Shortly thereafter, he transferred to the 398th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion to deploy to Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom Sentinel. His role expanded to being the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) of S4 operations. During his deployment, he was also entrusted with serving on a dignified transfer team, overseeing the respectful repatriation of fallen US/NATO service members.
Alex founded Organic Grit in 2019 after returning from a challenging deployment in Afghanistan. He and his teammates were struggling with the physical and emotional hardships of their service. Traditional methods of coping, such as drinking and taking medications, were not providing the relief they needed. During this time, they discovered the powerful benefits of CBD as a natural alternative.
He later deployed to East Africa with the Joint Special Operations Task Force – Somalia, fulfilling the role of the S4 Property Book NCOIC. While in East Africa, he was a project lead of a humanitarian effort aiding hundreds of displaced children from Somalia, Ethiopia, and Djibouti in a refugee center. He led the successful completion of two vital water sanitation projects that made a significant and enduring positive impact on the lives of these children.
Throughout his military career, he has completed several military schools and training programs. A notable achievement was the completion of the French Desert Commando Course during his deployment in East Africa.
Academically, he has achieved a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Maryland, Robert H. Smith School of Business. He is currently pursuing a master’s in business administration (MBA) at Georgetown University McDonough School of Business with a focus on social impact. He aims to leverage his passion for humanitarian work by joining a consulting firm's international development team, where he can focus on water and sanitation projects.
