Here's a cold calling hack that really WORKS!
Scott Smith talks about his early days as an insurance carrier rep, where he figured out how to get past the company “gatekeeper”.
He’d act a little confused in order to find out the name of the HR person.
Then he’d jot down the name of the person who answers the phone, plus the HR contact.
A week later he’d call back and greet the gatekeeper by name and ask to be put through immediately as if they already knew him.
He said more often than not this worked, and is a nice little skill you could apply if you cold-call for your sales job.
