Salespeople are taught that sales is about relationships, and that's absolutely true. Building strong relationships is key to winning sales, but it shouldn't be the only thing you're focused on.
As Robert Gelb and I discuss in the clip below, delivering on the product/solution you're selling and demonstrating value to your clients is equally as important as taking them to dinner or golfing.
At the end of the day, if your relationship with your client is based solely on the relationship, instead of the value you provide, they might end up doing business with somebody who's focused a bit more on providing value instead of relationship-building.
