In 2023 will you decide to say what you believe?
Overall, it is a good thing for society to have individuals speak freely because if we censor ourselves, we never have the opportunity to have our ideas challenged.
This doesn’t mean you should say outlandish things for shock value.
You should still be able to defend everything you say, even if the eventual outcome is that you change your mind.
I don’t want to participate in a "cancel culture" that doesn’t defend freedom of speech and doesn’t allow people grace for saying things that other people may find offensive.
Even the worst ideas should be allowed to be spoken in the public square because otherwise, those ideas go underground to fester and become more radicalized.
My stance is to say what I believe but then be ready to "defend my position".
And if I’m presented with better ideas and decide I was wrong, then hallelujah!
