Why People Don't Buy BETTER, CHEAPER Drugs 💊 #shorts #pharmaceutical #pharma #podcast
A huge problem in the pharma world is the incentivization of certain drugs by covering them through insurance plans.
For instance, if a drug is cheaper to the end user, but charges $30k to their health insurance plan, they're probably going to choose it since it's less out of pocket to them.
This actually hurts patients in two pretty significant ways:
1 - They're heavily incentivized to choose a certain drug that might not always be best for treating them.
2 - That drug spend hits their insurance, which ultimately leads to premium increases down the road.
