How to Make Smothered Chicken and Gravy

WHAT I USED:

Butter
Chicken Thighs chicken (this will work with any chicken pieces)
1 Onion (Chopped)
Seasonings: black pepper, Salt, Garlic Salt, Onion Seasoning, Italian Seasoning
4 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
3 cups chicken broth

WHAT I DID:
1. Use a paper towel or napkin to soak up excess water on chicken
2. Lather butter on both sides of chicken
3. Season chicken
4. Place chicken skin down in cast iron skillet or baking dish you are using.
5. Bake chicken in oven for 1 hour
6. Remove chicken from skillet. DO NOT CLEAN SKILLET

GRAVY
7. Melt butter in the essence of chicken. Whisk butter
8. Add onion and whisk until carmelized
9. Once onion has carmelized add flour and whisk quickly. You don’t want the flour to get clumpy.
10. Add in Chicken Broth and whisk. Gravy will thicken
11. Season gravy to taste
12. Place back in oven if you want chicken to get crispier on top or serve m

This dish works great with Mashed Potatoes or rice. Add a veggie like sautéed Spinach and boom...everyone is going to love you!! 🥰
