Welcome Solo Mom!

When Your Teen "Act Out", Don't Make it About You - Dr. Cam Caswell

When Your Teen

Today's guest is Dr. Cam Caswell, Adolescent Psychologist and family success coach. We talked about teenage behavior and how we as parents interpret them. She points out how different the relationship is when you are a solo parent of a teenager.

Dr, Cam is focused on giving teens a voice so we as parents can better understand them.

When we make our children's lives about our own, we tend to feel guilty as a parent.

"We are our teenagers' safe harbor, so we get a lot of their storm because they know they can trust us". ~ Dr. Cam Casell

In this discussion, Dr. Cam who is a solo mom of a teenage daughter, talks about:

  • Giving our teens space to be themselves
  • Re-examine the way we view "disrespect"
  • Be more aware of the relationship we have with our teens as solo moms.
  • When it's time to let them go (college, out on their own, etc.), focus on wha't best for them.
