Report to the Bridge With a Brand New Look at the Cast of Strange New Worlds

Report to the Bridge With a Brand New Look at the Cast of Strange New Worlds

With just eight days left until Star Trek Strange New Worlds graces us with its presence on our television screens, Paramount has given us a gorgeous new look at the bridge crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise.

So, grab a buddy and squeeze into the turbo-lift. Do us a favor when you get to the bridge, though; don't sit in the chair. Trust us on this one.

All photos were taken by James Dimmock, who deserves an award for the beautiful lighting and angles in these promo shots.

La'an Noonien-Singh (Christina Chong):

Not much is known yet about La'an other than that she is the Enterprise's Chief of Security. We also know the surname Noonien-Singh is infamous later down the line in Star Trek. Whether Strange New Worlds takes us there remains to be seen.

Lt. Erica Ortegas (Melissa Navia):

Once again, not a whole lot is known about Lt. Ortegas. We do know from a couple of lines of dialogue from the various teasers we've seen that she wants to be the best pilot in Starfleet. Judging by some of the Enterprise's "evasive maneuvers" we see in some of the trailers, it certainly looks like she fits the "hotshot pilot" bill.

Dr. M'Benga (Babs Olusanmokun) and Nurse Christine Chapel (Jess Bush):

No Star Trek series is complete without a top-class medical team. Dr. M'Benga returns to Star Trek after being a minor character in The Original Series. Chapel also makes her return; the role made famous by the late great Majel Barrett-Roddenberry. Strange New Worlds promises to give both characters the justice they deserve.

Cadet Nyota Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding):

She can do a lot more than open hailing frequencies. The JJ Abrams Star Trek films gave us a hint at that, and we can't wait for Celia Rose Gooding not only to give this iconic character the back story she deserves but unlock all of Uhura's potential.

Commander Una Chin-Riley (Rebecca Romijn):

Known simply as Number One for the longest time, Rebecca Romijn takes on the role of Captain Pike's trusted first officer, Commander Una Chin-Riley. Number One is yet another role originally played by the legendary Majel Barrett in the original Star Trek pilot, "The Cage." We also get to know the character more in Star Trek Discovery season two and the Short Trek, "Q&A."

Lt. Spock (Ethan Peck):

Logically, we will see the relationship between Spock and Pike grow over time to more closely resemble the one we find out about in The Original Series episode "The Menagerie."

Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount):

Finally, there's no better actor to take on the role of Captain Christopher Pike than Anson Mount. After bringing the character to life in season two of Star Trek Discovery, there's no question: the chair is yours, Sir.
