A Humanitarian and Security Catastrophe Unfolds
Texas' 23rd Congressional District is ground zero for the humanitarian and security catastrophe unfolding along the southern border. Republican candidate Julie Clark, who lives just 90 minutes from the Mexican border, is sounding the alarm on the horrific conditions there and the forces enabling this crisis.
"The media is not showing the truth of what's happening at the border," Julie explained in an interview on The Brian Nichols Show. "It's a disgrace. It's a safety issue across the board for everyone."
Cartels Operating with Impunity
Julie describes a complete loss of sovereignty and control. "We have drug cartels who own our border, we have sex trafficking, we have child trafficking." Criminal cartels are operating with impunity, openly violating laws and destroying lives.
Meanwhile, the incumbent Republican congressman actively fights to keep the border open, betraying his constituents. His actions have enabled the cartels and traffickers terrorizing border communities.
Lives and Livelihoods Destroyed
Ranchers and homeowners along the border are losing everything. "People have lost their livelihood. They have lost their generational land," Julie said.
She referenced border counties where ranching businesses have been completely destroyed. And hunting lands where people's income has been "completely lost" as the crisis worsens.
Julie also described the security nightmare of "bailouts" in border towns, high-speed chases, and property damage. “My phone goes off multiple times a day saying ‘bail out.’ They’re chasing after people, we’ve got damaged property.”
Flood of Unknown Migrants
Perhaps most disturbingly, Julie explains that most people crossing illegally have unknown intentions. “These people are not vetted, they are not background checked, they are let loose across this country to do whatever they want."
This flood of migrants with no oversight threatens communities across America. And the incumbent congressman actively fights to protect this lawlessness.
Julie Clark Calls for Action
When asked about solutions, Julie told host Brian Nichols, “We need to get control. And we need to return these people to the land that they arrived from."
She added, "if they want to come across the border and they want to be citizens...they need to go through that immigration process."
