The C.J Moneyway Show

As the world pauses to honor a legend, my son Jeremiah Johnson and I, CJ Moneyway, share heartfelt stories and insights into the phenomenal journey of Kobe Bryant. Come along as we celebrate the man who was much more than an athlete; a visionary with a relentless pursuit of greatness that resonated with fans and players alike. The passion in Kobe's eyes, the electrifying scores, and the unwavering dedication to his craft—these are the moments that shaped the legend of the Black Mamba. Jeremiah brings a fresh take, comparing the giants of today's NBA to the indomitable spirit of Kobe, with an eye on how stars like Durant and Curry carry forward the torch of excellence that Bryant so fiercely ignited.

Emotions run high and memories flood back as I recount the transformation from the audacious number 8 to the strategic mastermind of 24. We're not just reminiscing; we're reconnecting with the essence of Kobe's legacy, understanding how his adaptation of Michael Jordan's game was not mere imitation but an evolution into something uniquely Mamba. This episode isn't just a tribute; it's a call to the future generation of athletes to embody the work ethic and confidence that defined Kobe Bryant's illustrious career. Join us in this celebration of a life that continues to inspire and push the boundaries of what's possible on and off the court.

Music. Welcome, my good people, welcome to the CJA Moneyway Show and I'm with y'all CJA Moneyway, let's get it.

Speaker 2:

Music. Hey, what's up, my good people, welcome to the CJA Moneyway Show. Hey, today I got my son Jeremiah here with me. Uh, january 26th, today, my boy, kobe, you know, was in the playing crash and everything. So today is a documentary to him and remember some of my man, kobe, number 824. So I got my little son here with me today. What's your name?

Speaker 3:

Jeremiah Johnson.

Speaker 2:

Hey, so I got Jeremiah here with me today to talk a little bit about Kobe. You know, I know he know the 24 Kobe. A lot of these kids this age they don't know the number 8 Kobe, but he know basketball a little bit, so I want to pick his brain and you know see how he feel about Kobe. So what's your thoughts about, you know, kobe being Bryant?

Speaker 3:

How great of a scorer Kobe was, how he was loyal to his team and his mom mentality.

Speaker 2:

So what's your main about his mom mentality?

Speaker 3:

His effort and his dogness and like the way he could score and how he come out every game, putting up numbers, helping his team and yeah.

Speaker 2:

So, like with parts of what Kobe did and you know the parts of his legacy and everything of that nature, what part of that, that, the part of his work, that would you take and try to put into your own, the hard work, so you think that you could work as hard as Kobe or Jess's hard? Yeah, I ain't called. You know number 8. Number 8 was great. So what do you know about the number 8, kobe? I know you probably remember number 24, kobe.

Speaker 3:

His athleticism.

Speaker 2:

Athleticism. Yeah, how good he was and how he was dunking on everybody. Kobe, number 8, you know, early late 90s, early 2000s hey man, that boy was a beast man. I know. You know number 24, when he was a little more relaxed, a little more laid back. But number 8, he was a clown, though, you know. So if you had to say anything or if you was to meet a great player like that right now, what would you? What was the first thing that you would ask them about? They game or about the game basketball?

Speaker 3:

Who's the hardest player to guard?

Speaker 2:

In your opinion, who do you think the hardest player to guard? Jess, from your knowledge of basketball players, going from Michael Jordan, lebron Katie, kari, irvin Kobe who would you think is the hardest person to guard?

Speaker 3:

Camderon, Steph Curry or Kari.

Speaker 2:

Why would you think that they'd be the hardest to guard?

Speaker 3:

KD's a 7 foot 7 foot. Who could dribble shoot, finish, shoot over people's head. Curry, greatest shooter of all time, runs around screens very hard to guard, kari, best dribbler of all time.

Speaker 2:

Oh, you think so. You didn't know. I was there, thomas did, did you? That was a little bit, that was way before your time, but I give you that though, kari. Although I've been watching basketball since the 80s, kari probably do like the best hand-drew that I've seen in all these years. So with that, who would you say right now that you were patting your game out there? Who would you most want to be like to watch and to be able to perform like they perform right now?

Speaker 3:

Kevin Durant or Paul George.

Speaker 2:

Why Kevin Durant or Paul George?

Speaker 3:

Paul George has good defense and Kevin Durant's able to shoot from everyone on the court like mid-range paint and three-pointer. Paul George, again, he could shoot dribble finish and shoot over mid-range too.

Speaker 2:

Okay, so you want to be able to score at all three levels. You know, take it to the paint, shoot, jump shots, that mid-range, the elbow shot, and to be able to shoot three-pointer.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Well, you know you got to put in the work, you got to hide that mama mentality. You know it was something about Kobe. Not only did he put in the work himself, he had the confidence when he first came in the league straight out of high school. He had that confidence that he was going to be the best. But one thing that he did that elevated his game to a whole other level. He went to the master. He went to the man who had the plan that had been successful in that league, who was considered the great hoop.

Speaker 3:

LeBron what?

Speaker 2:

Get off my show. Are you serious? You think LeBron, the go Between L and MJ? Oh, that's cause you ain't never seen MJ play ELO. You know you don't know that about MJ, that's what you're talking about. But anyway, kobe went to the goal, the real goal. He went to MJ and he picked MJ as Bryan to see how MJ was able to do the things that he did. And so he men me Michael Jordan's game, and so he took that. He took the blueprint and then he just created his own blueprint out of the blueprint that was given to him, and so that's why Kobe being Bryan resting piece of my brother, you know, that's why he was considered one of the greatest players of all time and always will be considered, and he will always be in our hearts, especially in mind, cause I'm a Lakerfest since 1980. So I was a Kobe Bryan fan for 20 years, and so anything else you would like to say about Kobe being Bryan.

Speaker 2:

Before we get off the show.

Speaker 3:

Great plan.

Speaker 2:

Hey, this been MJ and Maya Johnson on CJ Moneyway Show. Thank you for tuning in Peace.

Speaker 4:

Sit back and relax. You're listening to the Moneyway Show.

Speaker 2:

Kobe Bryan man. You know what I'm saying. You know we big Laker fans you know. So you know his passing came on January 26, 2020. I'm doing a dedication to Kobe on 26 man on my podcast, so you know. Is it anything that you know? Every member is a Kobe man. Any Kobe moments you know what I'm saying that you have that you would like to share with the people.

Speaker 4:

Man, ah man, there's so many man this.

Speaker 2:

Well, give me three.

Speaker 4:

You know what? Man when he scored 83. Anyone when he crossed Jordan man when he crossed Jordan, me when he changed his number, yeah, to have that work ethic and to be a baller like that, so young man to do it right out of high school, just like crazy, yeah, you know. And you know people give me the things oh so big Jordan to go, just to go, whatever. Okay, look, that's gonna be another topic that we don't have to talk about.

Speaker 2:

Me and LeBron man. Yeah, I'm gonna have to get you in on that, so you know.

Speaker 4:

People ask me oh, you're LeBron fan. I tell them I've been a Laker fan since Showtime Laker before Kobe got there 1980, baby 1980. For a long time Long time.

Speaker 1:

I've been a Laker fan as long as I've been living bro 44 years I've been a Laker fan 44.

Speaker 4:

The magic came into the league. That's what I used to see on the top. That's what I used to hear my uncle talk about Showtime Laker, magic man, I'm trying. Look, you know, I went to the Magic Johnson basketball camp back in the day. I'm jealous.

Speaker 2:

I'm jealous.

Speaker 4:

Hey, I was there for three weeks. My uncle said, probably when I was, when he lived in California, that was my graduation gift from the tune school going to the Sunday parade. That was a graduation gift. I was out there for six weeks and went to camp for three weeks and stayed with him for the other three weeks. But you know, man Kobe, he was a baller. Man Baller, he was a bad guy for nobody. He loved it. He loved trash tour Because I put him in the zone. That's why I played like, okay, I'm about to take over the black mamba man.

Speaker 2:

The black mamba. You know what I'm saying, like like you saying. You know, like, like with me. You know what I'm saying With Kobe. You know I go back what you said, from number eight to 24. A lot of these youngsters now they know 24, like my son, you know what I'm saying. He 13 now, so he remember the 24 Kobe which was a more mature Kobe. You know what I'm saying. But that number eight Kobe, that number eight, they didn't know number eight, bro. They didn't know number eight.

Speaker 4:

Number eight, number eight, number eight, number eight, with the mini-asshole.

Speaker 2:

That boy was a beast.

Speaker 4:

Straight up the sprite commercials and all hey, man, that boy that number eight, kobe. Do I have with no number eight Kobe, he know when he when he dumped on him hey, hey, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you know, I ain't gonna say that all the shit, but you know y'all seen it. Y'all seen it. Yeah, put it on there, boy. Hey man. But so yeah, man, thanks for giving your take on Kobe man.
