00:00:00.500 --> 00:00:01.522
What's up my good people?
00:00:01.522 --> 00:00:03.967
Welcome to the CJ Money Way show.
00:00:03.967 --> 00:00:13.313
Today I have on the show my man, phil, that's throwing a joint-teeth event in Iowa, all Voices DSM.
00:00:13.313 --> 00:00:14.962
Hey, what's up, phil man.
00:00:14.962 --> 00:00:16.920
How you doing today, bro, what's?
00:00:17.041 --> 00:00:18.265
up CJ, how you doing.
00:00:18.265 --> 00:00:19.227
Thanks for having me.
00:00:19.227 --> 00:00:20.731
It's an honor to be on your show.
00:00:22.301 --> 00:00:23.364
I appreciate it, man.
00:00:23.364 --> 00:00:27.827
So you know you guys have an event coming on.
00:00:27.827 --> 00:00:35.106
But before we start, man, just tell us, before we get started, in your words, what is the meaning of Curating Change?
00:00:35.941 --> 00:00:39.185
So Curating Change is the.
00:00:39.185 --> 00:00:41.265
We have an art exhibit.
00:00:41.265 --> 00:00:58.762
It's a pop-up art exhibit, and what Curating Change is bringing artists, like-minded artists, through their art, through their platforms, to start to make changes in our community in a positive manner.
00:00:58.762 --> 00:01:04.206
We want to utilize our platforms.
00:01:04.206 --> 00:01:19.498
We want to utilize our artwork, our talents, our gifts for the purpose of curating and creating positive impact in our communities.
00:01:20.760 --> 00:01:30.271
So, with this event that's taking place on Juneteenth, tell us where is it taking place, what time and what type of artists would you be having on stage?
00:01:30.882 --> 00:01:32.245
So so so.
00:01:32.245 --> 00:01:34.831
So it's a twofold event.
00:01:34.831 --> 00:01:57.891
We have 17 musical performers, we have two poets, we have two motivational, inspirational speakers as well, and the event is taking place here in Des Moines, iowa, at Western Gateway Park.
00:01:57.891 --> 00:02:03.427
What that is is our downtown area is going to be blocked off for the event.
00:02:03.427 --> 00:02:21.605
We will have the performances on the stage and we will have the art exhibit in what's called here our John and Mary Papa John Educational Building, which will be right next to the stage.
00:02:21.605 --> 00:02:41.766
So it's an outdoor event for the musical side, but the art exhibit will be taking place in the John and Mary Papa John Center Education Center, and they're both a part of the Iowa Juneteenth event event.
00:02:41.806 --> 00:03:00.884
The Iowa Juneteenth event is an event that wants to really focus in on the three R's, as they would like to call it Remembering our history, releasing the past and reshaping our future.
00:03:00.884 --> 00:03:06.580
And my motto for this event is shining a light on our beautiful community.
00:03:06.580 --> 00:03:29.688
We want to do this by art, we want to do this by music, by motivational and inspirational speaking, just to get across a message in our community that not only are we powerful people, we have the ability to do powerful things.
00:03:30.621 --> 00:03:33.789
Man, you know that's interesting.
00:03:33.789 --> 00:03:37.270
It's got a lot of people, a lot of things going on with this event, man.
00:03:37.270 --> 00:03:58.733
So, with that being said, like doing things of this nature, wanting to do things for the community, reach out and make positive change, what has been your motivating factor, or what has inspired you to want to do things of this nature?
00:03:59.461 --> 00:04:10.592
There's been many, many different things, but I'll try to and that's an excellent question, cj, but I'll try to, you know, keep it within where I don't get too out of bounds.
00:04:10.592 --> 00:04:13.487
That's a topic I can talk about all day.
00:04:13.487 --> 00:04:34.307
Well, one of the things that has always concerned me a lot of my life is that we, as african-american people, we get, uh the publicity we get on our communities, in our communities, our neck is negative uh publicity.
00:04:34.307 --> 00:04:35.269
Uh.
00:04:35.269 --> 00:04:48.122
We don't get much positive uh feedback from what takes place in our communities, although we do have a lot of positive things happening, but nobody's talking about these things.
00:04:48.122 --> 00:04:52.696
I'm always and have always been a firm believer.
00:04:52.696 --> 00:04:59.286
In fact, our motto for All Voices DSM is changing the world with a stage and a microphone.
00:04:59.286 --> 00:05:10.420
I truly believe we can look at ourselves differently as a community and also as a reflection to other people.
00:05:10.420 --> 00:05:19.180
We can use a stage and a microphone to create and show a beauty that comes from our community.
00:05:19.180 --> 00:05:22.487
Our communities are beautiful communities.
00:05:22.487 --> 00:05:41.173
There's a lot of positive things that happen, but a lot of times all we hear about is the shooting that happened on 9th Street or the shooting that happened over here, or such and such who got 40 years.
00:05:41.173 --> 00:05:49.427
You know we have so much more going on in our communities, and not only do we have them going on in our communities.
00:05:49.427 --> 00:05:57.040
I want to take the opportunity to highlight and to really shine a light on those beautiful things.
00:05:57.360 --> 00:06:01.672
And a lot of people may say, well, you're only doing it through entertainment.
00:06:01.672 --> 00:06:08.153
Entertainment gives us the opportunity to come together and rejoice.
00:06:08.153 --> 00:06:12.127
It gives us the opportunity to come together and laugh.
00:06:12.127 --> 00:06:15.882
It gives us the opportunity to come together and embrace.
00:06:15.882 --> 00:06:22.588
And not only does it give us the opportunity to do these things, it also gives us the opportunity to educate.
00:06:22.588 --> 00:06:38.184
This is why I make sure I have motivational speakers that talk to our young kids, that can express to our young kids that, hey, look at me, I have made and I am a very successful person.
00:06:38.184 --> 00:06:50.485
We have a lot of successful people and we need to shine a light, and we could do this by mixing entertainment, mixing art and mixing education.
00:06:50.485 --> 00:07:02.988
I like to call it edutainment, as as uh krs1 used to call it back yeah, yeah I mean, that's interesting points and and facts.
00:07:03.108 --> 00:07:12.151
Like you say, we do gravitate to the negative things, to the negative aspect of what's going on in our community.
00:07:12.279 --> 00:07:13.887
That's what's going to be on the news.
00:07:13.887 --> 00:07:26.357
This is the things that they try to exploit, and so you know, to the same extent, like this is what I'm trying to do this podcast for is to put a highlight on those and their journeys.
00:07:26.357 --> 00:07:31.867
You know what I'm saying, Like where we came from, or what people came from, and to what they're doing now.
00:07:31.867 --> 00:07:54.586
You know life has its challenges and so you want to give people the recognition to say, hey, look, you know, this is what we're doing over here and I think that's a good thing that you guys are doing up there in Iowa and I thank God that we will have the opportunity to come in and be with you guys this year and I'm looking forward to that.
00:07:54.586 --> 00:08:01.144
Yes, I'm looking forward to it, man, Looking forward to meeting some of your artists and and everything of that nature.
00:08:01.144 --> 00:08:02.750
Tell me, man.
00:08:02.750 --> 00:08:09.247
So what is the sole purpose of this event and what are you looking to get out of it?
00:08:09.247 --> 00:08:10.531
Awareness-wise.
00:08:12.863 --> 00:08:20.526
So one of the things that you just kind of mentioned is we are interviewing some of the artists.
00:08:20.526 --> 00:08:23.370
We really want to tell their backstory.
00:08:23.370 --> 00:08:29.543
We truly believe the backstory is just as important as the performance.
00:08:29.543 --> 00:08:34.732
I think that's one of the things that you are big with your podcast.
00:08:34.732 --> 00:08:39.352
One of the things I love about your podcast is you telling the backstory.
00:08:39.894 --> 00:08:51.575
A lot of times we only see a person when they get to that successful point, but they don't get an opportunity to talk about those struggles that it took for them to get to that point.
00:08:51.575 --> 00:09:25.533
Some of our goals in this is to talk about how people got to that point, got to that point One that, again, because we only hear negative things, it's easy to figure out how to get to a negative point, but it's so important for us to pass our stories down and talk about what it takes to get from point A to point B, and that is some of the things I really want to focus on.
00:09:25.533 --> 00:09:34.715
Not only do I want to focus on telling the story, I want to take this and expand it as far as I can.
00:09:34.715 --> 00:09:42.067
I want to go to the schools and utilize the stage and the microphone to create change.
00:09:42.067 --> 00:09:58.562
I want to go in to some of the cities, like Peoria, illinois, who's having a great deal of gun violence taking place, eventually Chicago, illinois, who has a great deal of gun violence.
00:09:58.562 --> 00:10:06.277
Eventually Gary, illinois, and I want to take a platform to shine a light on our people.
00:10:06.277 --> 00:10:34.765
I think if people see more positive things coming out of our community which they're there, they're just not in the highlight Then we can start to gravitate and we can start to change the narrative a little bit, because a lot of times I think our young people and I don't think it's a large portion of young people, I still think it's a small minority, but a lot of our young people all they see is the gang banging.
00:10:34.846 --> 00:10:38.535
All they hear is, uh, the, the crazy music.
00:10:38.535 --> 00:10:44.149
And don't get me wrong, I listen to a lot of actually crazy music, so I ain't dogging it that way either.
00:10:44.149 --> 00:10:59.184
But at the same time, if all you hear is shoot them up, bang, bang, that kind of conversation in music and on film and in games, then it's real easy to gravitate to that lifestyle.
00:10:59.184 --> 00:11:04.048
But we do have a lifestyle where people are doing wonderful things.
00:11:04.048 --> 00:11:19.032
My daughter just graduated from college we don't talk about those kind of conversations Just graduated from college with double major, got a job before she even got out of college, making 70 grand a year.
00:11:19.032 --> 00:11:23.044
I ain't never even thought about making that much money.
00:11:23.044 --> 00:11:26.089
You know what I'm saying.
00:11:26.089 --> 00:11:30.294
But those are the kind of conversations that we need to start taking place.
00:11:30.294 --> 00:11:42.739
Start taking place about conversations with these young geniuses that we have in our community.
00:11:42.739 --> 00:11:44.129
Our young people are doing wonderful things.
00:11:44.129 --> 00:11:46.715
They're mobilizing, they're starting podcasts.
00:11:46.715 --> 00:11:53.129
They're doing wonderful things and it's time to really start highlighting the wonders in our community.
00:11:53.750 --> 00:12:05.187
In my opinion, yeah, because you know, like you say, there's a lot of things that you can highlight in people's success, but what about the things that got you there?
00:12:05.187 --> 00:12:19.572
Yes, so you know, like, one of the reasons that I did this because and I say this all the time is that I see the shacks, I see the kevin harris, I see the lebron james and now his wife starred in one.
00:12:19.572 --> 00:12:27.293
You know, now everybody's starting a podcast and, yeah, people, people go gravitate to them because of the name, of the name value.
00:12:27.293 --> 00:12:35.265
But one thing that I recognize with that Kevin Hart said, you know, the women empowerment.
00:12:35.265 --> 00:12:42.849
You know they got a lot of platforms that a lot of people, especially a lot of them celebrities they only bring on celebrities.
00:12:43.250 --> 00:12:43.611
Yeah.
00:12:44.120 --> 00:12:47.109
They're only talking about their lifestyle.
00:12:47.109 --> 00:12:47.991
You know what I'm saying.
00:12:47.991 --> 00:12:55.288
Like like somebody like me or somebody like you know whoever, we can listen to them and be like man, you know.
00:12:55.288 --> 00:12:59.966
But like what is it really edified in me, though?
00:12:59.966 --> 00:13:03.601
You feel what I'm saying, I really get out of that about?
00:13:03.601 --> 00:13:08.414
You know y'all going traveling all around the world and how you got 50?
00:13:08.414 --> 00:13:15.716
Yeah, it's motivation, you know to want to reach for the stars, but what about the ground level?
00:13:15.716 --> 00:13:15.857
You?
00:13:15.898 --> 00:13:17.782
feel what I'm saying like what about?
00:13:18.182 --> 00:13:28.085
about those of us that's on the ground level, that's trying to get to that point, but not there, and because we're not there, we won't be.
00:13:28.085 --> 00:13:32.933
You won't hear our stories on any of these, on Oprah, you know what I'm saying.
00:13:32.933 --> 00:13:37.325
You won't hear any of our stories on the View or things like that.
00:13:37.325 --> 00:13:41.089
And so, like you know, I'm agreeing with what you're saying and I'm feeling it.
00:13:41.089 --> 00:13:56.850
We need to have more outlets of people, especially of color, that cares, you know, about the younger generation, so that they can pass it on about our gender, about our culture.
00:13:56.850 --> 00:14:06.225
Period, you feel what I'm saying because, like, we're not being highlighted enough from the successes that you know saying come out.
00:14:06.225 --> 00:14:28.813
Like I was interviewing this one lady and she said that, you know, she called from gary and she said that they said that nothing good would ever come out of gary, indiana, and so her whole mission has been to prove people wrong, because something good has come out of Gary and there's a lot of good that comes out of Gary.
00:14:28.994 --> 00:14:30.057
And that's.
00:14:30.076 --> 00:14:39.318
her sole mission is to help as many people as she can to succeed, and we need more people like you.
00:14:39.318 --> 00:14:40.783
We need more people like her.
00:14:40.783 --> 00:14:42.870
I interviewed a guy that's from Compton.
00:14:43.220 --> 00:14:48.720
You know, he's doing the same thing that you're doing with the mental health things and going out and empowering.
00:14:48.720 --> 00:14:55.589
And I told him I said man, you know, I got a cousin that's doing that and you know, maybe I'll try to link you guys up.
00:14:55.589 --> 00:15:01.111
I said, because it's bigger than just ours, it's bigger than just Compton, it's bigger than just hours.
00:15:01.111 --> 00:15:02.938
Absolutely it's bigger than just confidence.
00:15:04.320 --> 00:15:06.740
And it's a lot of, and you'd be amazed at how many people are actually doing the same things that you guys are.
00:15:06.740 --> 00:15:13.971
Actually, I was watching the NBA yesterday and the NBA has a mental health thing, you know.
00:15:13.971 --> 00:15:16.668
So it's big man.
00:15:16.668 --> 00:15:19.134
So I appreciate what you're doing, man.
00:15:19.134 --> 00:15:20.139
I admire what you're doing.
00:15:20.139 --> 00:15:26.614
I pray that you continue doing it, man, because sky's the limit for people that has a heart for the people.
00:15:27.379 --> 00:15:28.240
Well, it's funny.
00:15:28.240 --> 00:15:37.095
You said that about the young lady whose mission was to show that there's many positive things coming out of Gary.
00:15:37.095 --> 00:15:45.033
For many years I thought and said every Black man should write a book.
00:15:45.033 --> 00:15:51.812
I've since changed that and now I really believe everyone should write a book.
00:15:51.812 --> 00:15:56.644
Everyone should be able to tell their legacy.
00:15:56.644 --> 00:16:03.075
We should not continue to allow other people to tell our legacy.
00:16:03.075 --> 00:16:08.966
Uh, I think that's kind of where things have gotten miscommunicated.
00:16:08.966 --> 00:16:12.232
First of all, nobody knows your story.
00:16:12.232 --> 00:16:27.066
Like you, you're the only one that can tell your story and it's important for that story to be told, if nothing more than for your seeds, your people, if nothing more.
00:16:27.066 --> 00:16:34.581
However, the story should break up or should shape up to something even much bigger.
00:16:34.581 --> 00:16:50.432
It should shape up to a community, it should shape up to a neighborhood, it should shape up to a city, a state, and it should be a part of what takes place during that time period of life.
00:16:50.432 --> 00:16:55.964
Our story has gotten broken for many reasons, of course.
00:16:55.964 --> 00:17:02.195
Racism, slavery, many other things have broke down that story.
00:17:02.941 --> 00:17:07.051
At some point in time we got to get back to telling our story.
00:17:07.051 --> 00:17:16.570
Nobody can tell my story better than me and it's important for us to tell those stories.
00:17:16.570 --> 00:17:19.449
I don't care if you can't read or write.
00:17:19.449 --> 00:17:24.608
We have so many opportunities you can get out of the phone or you can record your voice.
00:17:24.608 --> 00:17:27.229
It's about passing down the stories.
00:17:27.229 --> 00:17:31.190
Many cultures pass those stories down.
00:17:31.190 --> 00:17:45.810
Our stories got broken and it's important for us to get back to telling our stories and to nobody else to your seed it's important for them to be able to continue to pass that down.
00:17:45.810 --> 00:17:47.907
That got broke in the black community.
00:17:47.907 --> 00:17:55.230
The story ain't been passed down for years and we got other folks telling our story and they ain't telling the truth.
00:17:55.660 --> 00:17:59.223
Yeah, no, definitely you know.
00:17:59.223 --> 00:18:15.352
And, like you say, not only are they not telling the truth, but, as we do with our own stories, with our own lives, at times as I was listening to you we leave out certain elements and certain things out too.
00:18:15.352 --> 00:18:17.403
Yes, absolutely you know.
00:18:17.403 --> 00:18:38.402
So there are things that's going on within we'll have to do that with on another one man, you know it's, it's the generational thing, you know, and so there's some things that I may not know about great, great granddaddy, or I may not know about granddaddy, or even my own father.
00:18:38.442 --> 00:19:10.603
You know, and so yeah, no, you're absolutely right, there's some things missing, and so, like you say, if we don't talk about it, if we don't talk and share these things and then so there are some things in my life that's void because my daddy didn't share it with me, or my daddy didn't share what my great granddaddy did or my granddaddy did, and so we have to be more transparent nowadays because, if you don't, you know, I was just telling all my son this yesterday.
00:19:10.603 --> 00:19:21.330
I said, at the end of the day, especially when you become a father because he's going to have a kid in um september say it's no longer about you.
00:19:21.330 --> 00:19:36.887
Right, not only are you responsible, you're not only not responsible for yourself now, you're responsible not just physically but spiritually for that child, because you are the covering.
00:19:36.887 --> 00:19:38.886
You know you're the head, not the tail.
00:19:38.886 --> 00:19:40.423
Forget what society talking about.
00:19:40.423 --> 00:19:40.900
You know what I'm saying.
00:19:40.835 --> 00:19:41.709
You're the head, not the tail, forget what society's talking about.
00:19:41.644 --> 00:19:41.845
You know what I'm saying.
00:19:41.845 --> 00:19:47.490
You're the head and not tail, and that child is under your protection.
00:19:47.490 --> 00:19:50.670
Of course, it's going to always be under the mother's protection, that's right.
00:19:50.670 --> 00:20:02.776
But as far as the spiritual aspect of it, you are the protection not only for your child, but when you get married, you're the protection for your wife.
00:20:02.776 --> 00:20:11.873
You are the head of the household, contrary to what society is trying to push on us today.
00:20:14.082 --> 00:20:15.006
That's real talk.
00:20:15.006 --> 00:20:19.160
Look, my wife takes care of many, many things.
00:20:19.160 --> 00:20:30.647
I often call her the head, and what I mean by that as her being the head, is she takes care of the money, she takes care of everything.
00:20:30.647 --> 00:20:50.253
But in terms of me leading my family, I lead my family, I lead them in the direction that they not to say that she doesn't, yeah, but my responsibility is to say, hey, I see you trying to go over there.
00:20:50.253 --> 00:20:58.054
Let me lay out a path for you to see if that is going to work for you.
00:20:58.721 --> 00:21:00.988
And if not let's come back to the drawing board.
00:21:00.988 --> 00:21:02.070
You know what I'm saying.
00:21:02.070 --> 00:21:04.067
And this is when they're younger.
00:21:04.067 --> 00:21:09.663
Of course, they're growing now, so they've already, you know, passed that stage.
00:21:09.663 --> 00:21:19.029
But when they're young, when my seed is starting to sprout, I have the opportunity to decide.
00:21:19.029 --> 00:21:32.071
Okay, let me give you a vision of some different paths for you to take, and it's for me to be able to break that information down and provide that guidance for them.
00:21:32.071 --> 00:21:33.074
You know what I'm saying.
00:21:33.213 --> 00:21:45.626
Yeah, and don't get me wrong, their mother, she's the nurturer, she's the one that's going to make sure that they get all that they did, she's going to be the one that's watering and she's going to.
00:21:45.626 --> 00:21:53.435
I'm, I'm now going to be the one that is going to kind of guide and lead, of course with her, with her blessings as well.
00:21:53.435 --> 00:21:55.520
Yeah, but I'm trying to, you know.
00:21:55.520 --> 00:22:01.753
Hey, let me, let's, let's, get you to where you're trying to go at this early age.
00:22:01.753 --> 00:22:04.728
You're absolutely right.
00:22:04.728 --> 00:22:13.453
We, as fathers, unfortunately, we don't get the respect that we need or deserve.
00:22:13.453 --> 00:22:21.186
And let me scratch need we don't get the respect we deserve, and I'm okay with that.
00:22:21.186 --> 00:22:27.827
Need we don't get the respect we deserve, and I'm okay with that.
00:22:27.827 --> 00:22:29.352
Okay, I'm okay because I know that my duty and my job.
00:22:29.372 --> 00:22:30.534
I ain't gonna get a whole lot of pattern.
00:22:30.555 --> 00:22:36.773
Yeah, that don't get a lot of fair fair yeah, yeah yeah, yeah, I understand that and I'm okay.
00:22:36.773 --> 00:22:43.806
I accept that role because that's the role that I have to go, you know, and so I got accepted.
00:22:43.806 --> 00:22:49.252
You know, my Father's Day gift ain't the same as the Mother's Day gift.
00:22:49.252 --> 00:22:51.414
I ain't telling it about him.
00:22:57.819 --> 00:22:59.285
Hey, and this is for people to grow on.
00:22:59.285 --> 00:23:07.021
I hope somebody get this message out of this conversation, because you said something that I was just telling my son yesterday too.
00:23:07.021 --> 00:23:14.608
When you know your place as a man, you do not ever have to feel intimidated.
00:23:14.608 --> 00:23:23.185
Do not ever fight for the attention of your child.
00:23:23.185 --> 00:23:26.967
You see what I'm saying A mother is going to be a mother.
00:23:27.279 --> 00:23:34.193
We know what the, you know the standards are.
00:23:34.193 --> 00:23:40.233
You know what I'm saying how it's supposed to be, you know daddy, child, wife.
00:23:40.233 --> 00:23:42.965
However, you know what I'm saying it is always.
00:23:42.965 --> 00:23:44.108
Know that.
00:23:44.108 --> 00:23:50.718
We know what it is, but it's always gonna be the other way around and you have to just accept that.
00:23:50.718 --> 00:23:58.441
You know, as long as they treat you accordingly, I'm not here to fight for my child like like, get on, get into it with my wife.
00:23:58.441 --> 00:24:01.769
Be like, oh well, you fixed his plate first, come on.
00:24:01.769 --> 00:24:03.881
You know what I'm saying, literally.
00:24:03.881 --> 00:24:09.291
You have people that try to go by this pecking order and you know what I'm saying.
00:24:09.291 --> 00:24:10.193
And that's exactly.
00:24:10.193 --> 00:24:12.728
No, I'm the head of the house.
00:24:12.728 --> 00:24:14.948
I get my plate first, come on.
00:24:16.082 --> 00:24:16.825
Let's fight for it.
00:24:16.825 --> 00:24:19.387
We know what the pecking order is.
00:24:19.387 --> 00:24:22.448
It may not always go that way.
00:24:22.448 --> 00:24:28.185
Like you said, I know I'm the head, but who's truly the head?
00:24:28.185 --> 00:24:34.352
My wife the head, because, like you say everything, she takes care of everything.
00:24:34.352 --> 00:24:42.112
You know I get her the money, she pays the bills, and it's not taking nothing away from her.
00:24:42.112 --> 00:24:43.747
It's not taking nothing away from me.
00:24:43.747 --> 00:24:47.569
That's just the structure of my household.
00:24:47.609 --> 00:24:48.392
You know what I'm saying.
00:24:48.460 --> 00:24:56.345
But some people get bent out of shape if they feel as though they're not doing everything because I'm the man.
00:24:56.345 --> 00:24:59.625
But see, here's the thing, Phil, and I'm going to leave it at this.
00:24:59.625 --> 00:25:00.364
You may want to point on it.
00:25:00.364 --> 00:25:01.633
Here's the thing, Phil, and I'm going to leave it at this.
00:25:01.633 --> 00:25:02.217
You may want to point on it.
00:25:02.217 --> 00:25:08.872
Here's the thing you want to be the man in certain situations, but when you're supposed to be the man, you're not.
00:25:09.494 --> 00:25:17.920
Mm-hmm you want to claim to be the man, but in certain situations you run away from that responsibility.
00:25:17.920 --> 00:25:24.141
Come on, man, you can't have it both ways, right, right, if you're gonna be the man, be the man all the time.
00:25:24.141 --> 00:25:29.803
You can't run when it's time to actually be the man but did, but you want to sit around and see.
00:25:29.803 --> 00:25:30.704
That's the problem too.
00:25:30.704 --> 00:25:35.404
When you got men that always say, well, I'm the man, you got to keep saying that you the man, then really you not.
00:25:36.968 --> 00:25:37.730
Who you tell them.
00:25:37.730 --> 00:25:40.095
You know what I'm saying, really, you not?
00:25:42.565 --> 00:25:49.980
You get that on the head, man, because a real man ain't got to sit around there and drilling into his wife's head or drilling into his girlfriend's head that I'm the man.
00:25:49.980 --> 00:25:54.546
No, they already know you, the man, and they going to respect you as the man.
00:25:54.546 --> 00:26:02.536
The reason they're not respecting man, I know we went all off of Juneteenth, that's not a problem, we're conversing, we're conversing.
00:26:02.536 --> 00:26:10.171
It's no problem, but to know because when they don't treat you like a man, it's because you're not acting like one.
00:26:11.073 --> 00:26:11.634
Absolutely.
00:26:14.259 --> 00:26:15.001
And so they treat you accordingly.
00:26:15.001 --> 00:26:19.413
And it's no different how we may treat somebody that we come across.
00:26:19.413 --> 00:26:24.009
If this is how you coming across to me, I'm going to treat you accordingly.
00:26:24.209 --> 00:26:26.713
Right, absolutely, absolutely.
00:26:26.940 --> 00:26:28.319
And it's the same way in relationships.
00:26:28.859 --> 00:26:30.226
No, you're absolutely right.
00:26:30.226 --> 00:26:34.548
No, I agree 100%, absolutely right.
00:26:35.741 --> 00:26:48.930
So yeah, so that's just a nugget for y'all out there listening man Hold on CJ, I got to say we done, went off the rail a little bit and that's okay, because you always dropping nuggets and I respect that.
00:26:48.930 --> 00:26:56.527
We get caught up so much on how things are supposed to be laid out and how things are supposed to be done out and how things are supposed to be done.
00:26:56.527 --> 00:27:02.013
It's okay to go off the rail, it's okay to have conversation, it's okay to talk.
00:27:02.013 --> 00:27:03.601
You know what I'm saying?
00:27:03.601 --> 00:27:18.874
Yeah, I'm a firm believer that communication is everything, man, and and we don't have to say, okay, if, if you ain't talking about this, we need to do it another time.
