Introduction to Episode: During season three, we tackle yet another tough topic. We discuss suicide and all of the many ways to tell if one is suicidal. We give you tips and advice on how to help those who are hurting and dealing with suicidal thoughts. We give you a glimpse of hope and we give advice to family and friends that death with the death of a loved one who had suffered suicide. Hope can be revealed in a time of pain and suffering.Today we talk about the importance of listening.
Co-Host: Barbara Roberts has been in Pastoral Care Ministry for many years. She is the Director of Caring Ministry at Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church and is the author of two books. Her first book, “Helping Those Who Hurt” is a Handbook for caring and crisis situations. Her recently published book, “With Her Last Breath: A Tale of Suicide and the Hope of Heaven” is based on the 26 page handwritten journal her niece, Kathy, left upon taking her life. The book incorporates each journal page with a chapter of caring helps for people dealing with issues of despair and suicide.

Listening is so important when dealing with a suicidal or depressed person. A person dealing with suicide or depression often wants someone to listen to them first and give advice second.
