Hello again all you everyday people! Gerry T here, T as in Toast...never mind, you know the drill.
So here is your sneak preview into what is coming out of the toaster this summer, but before I do that, here is a picture I took at the golf course the other day.
This was the second week in a row there was a goose on the shack as we came by. He ended up in the water shortly after, so did my ball.
Okay, what's being cooked up in the toaster? Well, by the time you read this I may have already posted my final episode on the history of Quebec - The Battle For Canada. I am going into very deep detail on the construction of the French forts and fortresses in New France (Canada), how the British attacked them, and how things turned out.
The French were very much outnumbered but did have strong defensive works. The British had siege cannons and a lot more men, but were limited in time as Canadian winters are very tough on attacking forces out in the open.
I've also had two nice chats with young Jeremy Bormann of Buision podcast out of Germany. It's a great podcast that focuses on A New Way of Tackling Problems in Business, Law and Life Together. Check it out here Buision Podcast on Spotify
First, he interviewed me on my thoughts regarding China vs America. Things are changing so much and so fast on this front, by the time I post the interview (by late May for sure) it may be old news! If you are just dying to know my thoughts, instead of waiting, you can check out the episode on Buision as Jeremy has already posted it.
Then I interviewed him on whether America is moving away from the rule of law, but our discussion quickly moved down several interesting and unrelated paths so it really was a great, rambling discussion on many topics both historical and current. Stay tuned for that by the end of May.
I am trying to organize a surprise interview with my sister in law (my brother's wife) and one of her brothers. They grew up in Chile under Pinochet's regime and their dad was a communist activist. As you know, Dry Toast does not think much of communist theory, but this is a great opportunity to hear a story from some of the everyday people. Their dad was a wonderful man, we all really enjoyed his company, and there is hardly a person that knew him that doesn't miss him, except maybe for Pinochet's police, who took him into custody for months and his family didn't know if they would ever see him again. I am working on getting this together so stay posted.
My long awaited series on climate change is close to ready. Well, actually, it's nowhere near done but I am ready to present the first episode and by the time I do (early June) I should be almost done with the follow up episodes. I don't know how many episodes it will be but suspect it will be three. The first episode will be the arguments for a climate change emergency; the second episode will be the arguments for a moderate, manageable climate change scenario, and the third will be a discussion of which evidence strikes me as more evidence based and more likely, and then I will finish off with some ideas for things we can do as everyday people.
And, speaking of everyday people, what better way to end a blog than with Sly and The Family Stone? Everyday People
See you soon, keep your heads low and your toast dry...and your powder.
