"Cincinnati Bengals: Roaring For More"

Nobody would've thought the Cincinnati Bengals could and would do
the unthinkable. In a sport where salary cap can strap teams' future,
they finally did something against the grain. Franchise quarterback Joe
Burrow doesn't have to worry about having his two star wide receivers
missing OTAs, training camp and regular season games.
Receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins are staying in "The Jungles
of Cincinnati; as both agreed to new contracts. Chase, who led the
league in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns secured a
4year/$161 million dollar deal with $112 million guaranteed. An average
of $40 million per season. After missing offseason workouts without a
new deal, all Chase done was have the best statistical season of his
career.
Tee Higgins has been a constant number two for Burrow since being
drafted in the second round via 2020 with his quarterback. A guy who
could easily be a number one option with any team wanted to stay with
familiarity and comfort. After being tagged twice, a deal had to be done
as well. Securing a 4year/$115 million dollar extension; giving him the
security of being able to play with Burrow and Chase long term. It was
unprecedented in making this possible, but hey... As the saying goes:
"Number one wide receivers don't grow on trees" and proven to be
accurate.
Chase and Higgins are homegrown talent who have a strong connection
with Burrow. Securing this mega deal with two receivers comes with
great sacrifices. Omitting improving the defense and investing your
salary cap with three offensive players will have to deliver. Yes, you can
find solid defenders who fit the scheme; but you're not going to afford
keeping them if they develop into Pro Bowl talent.
Cincinnati made a commitment to say "we're serious about winning and
not being cheap." Good for the organization in making this happen. In a
league where you need star power and quarterback play, the Bengals
have it. Question surrounding the window of opportunity is health.
Injuries can occur any moment during OTAs, training camp or practice.
Securing deals and getting as much guaranteed money as possible is
what players have to do. We as fans have no right in judging a man's
wallet or commitment. It's a collision sport and very brutal on a human
body. For the present and future, Cincinnati's Super Bowl window is
smaller than it was before agreeing to these new deals. A minimum of
two years based on the current salary cap structure. Yes, a title run in
2021 seems long ago, but with guys hungry to get back.
With their big three of Burrow, Chase and Higgins on the books for 2025
and beyond, Cincinnati can roar for more; while clawing their way back
to NFL prominence. In a very tough AFC, every win matters. One small
margin of error can cost you a potential playoff spot. There's no egos
with these guys, they enjoy playing together. When one player scores,
the other high fives and joins ion the celebration.
