Another day in Dallas, Texas as my beloved Cowboys give me no
reason to be entertained. I bet you’re wondering why this sounds
sarcastic, it’s not by any means. Come step into my office, don’t
mind the blackout curtains. Grab some Kleenex and let’s be
honest about this one more time. You’re more than welcome to
cry if needed, trust me.
If you’ve been watching any Dallas Cowboys games this season,
what’s been desired? A team that’s all over the place and no
sense of urgency. Yes, I’m going to call a spade a “spade” in this
regard. This team is ABYSMAL, ATROCIOUS, HELLISH,
UNPREPARED… How many more adjectives do I need to use?
Explain to me how in the name of Tom Landry did we get to this
point?
Let’s go back to the 2024 offseason: one of the best running
backs of this era became available. You probably heard of him:
Derrick Henry aka “King Henry” lives and trains in Dallas, Texas.
He wanted to be a Cowboy… But, good ole Jerry Jones refused
to schedule a meeting in part of “we couldn’t afford him and
doesn’t fit our offense.” Now, I’m not the smartest man in the
world but doggone it he would’ve helped our franchise
quarterback!
Let’s go all-in for our guys; the ones who’ve we drafted and
developed by far and large to reward them with a new contract.
Waiting until the last minute, week and hour to sign Dak Prescott
to the largest deal in league history. What’s been the return of
investment? Three wins over Cleveland, New York Giants and
Pittsburgh Steelers. How’s wide receiver CeeDee Lamb playing?
Banged up with a shoulder injury and struggling to create
separation.
Here’s where you should be crying at this point: Prescott is out
with a season ending hamstring injury. Yep, “Mr. Cowboy” is done
for 2024 and nobody to blame but Jerry Jones. You see, rather
you lifelong fans want to admit, but this was writing on the wall
after 2023. It’s been two guys carrying this team and that’s it.
Name me another player on offense who’s impactful? I’ll wait…
Do you finally see what’s happening? Jerry continues to subtract
versus adding in upgrading this roster.
After the blowout loss to Philadelphia Sunday afternoon, all the
excuses continue to pile up. Jones is stuck in his own ways and
lack of self-awareness is beyond unbearable. You put curtains up
to block the sun for other venues, but refuse to help this team.
Players have complained about it but nothing can be done.
Cowboys nation, if you’re expecting a change… You’ve been
suckered punched by the hype man in Jerry Jones. As this
season is riding into the sunset, accept the realities of what Jones
has done and find peace knowing we’ll have a top seven pick in
the 2025 NFL Draft. If you’re hoping the great Bill Belichick takes
the reins, good luck. Coach Deion “Prime” Sanders bringing his
aura to change the culture, he’d rather coach college kids to
prepare them for the next level.
Regardless of what happens after week 18, this team isn’t built for
success. You’ve been waiting for “84 years” and nothing has
gotten better. Screaming, yelling, throwing remotes and shattering
televisions doesn’t solve the anguish created by Jerry Jones. This
unraveling revelation has showed his true colors with each loss.
Allow me to bring up this final point before I conclude our session:
2019 season, the final straw with former head coach Jason
Garrett. A halfway decent roster with high expectations. Fighting
for a new contract extension, his rightful spot to remain the play
caller. His emotions were tested and on displayed as Jones
smiled from ear to ear; while Dallas spiraled to finishing 8-8.
Current head coach Mike McCarthy is in the same boat. You see
the picture I’m painting?
No matter what he does, the writing is black and bold: “Mike, your
microphone doesn’t matter. Jerry has all the “mics” and yours will
be dropped after this season.” Cowboys nation, be in perfect
peace and don’t lose sleep on a team who doesn’t value winning.
A loser’s mentality reeks in this organization and it points back to
Jones. If you’re crying after reading this, I had to give it to you in a
brutal honest manner.
When Jerry decides to step down as the general manager and
allow a person who can put a winning product on the field, he will
continue to control the narrative and fuel what’s left of the ashes
in keeping all of us entertained. A scandal can occur in the
offseason, and he’ll have the money to run through it unscathed.
But can’t spend money to sign players to help our team compete
for Super Bowls. *I’m just saying.*
Stai tuned…
