‘Twas the night before Christmas, all was calm and chilled throughout Khaotikland. Oh, the many vivid colors of red and green; even some rose gold and platinum shined bright. Santa Khaos was checking his list, while watching for any weather updates. As Christmas is almost here, he knows who’s been dominating in football and basketball. Yes, Santa Khaos checked the slate of NFL and NBA games to see who’s receiving gifts in time for the festivities. All the reindeer lined up and ready for takeoff. Rudolph, you’ll be guiding my sleigh for this khaotik road trip.
The biggest, most khaotik Christmas weekend of NFL and NBA games is sure to bring plenty of cheers and smiles. Fans of both sports are making sure gift exchanges are done in a timely manner. As this will be one weekend to open big surprises or be stuck with a fruit cake; maybe an ugly sweater which will collect dust. Santa Khaos is here to deliver your Christmas weekend sports preview.

Santa Khaos is looking at an interesting AFC North matchup between the Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers. Who’s been naughty you might ask? Pittsburgh has no answer for their lackadaisical effort in which The Grinch may take what’s left. Cincinnati on the other hand has been nice the last two weeks. Who receives the gift of victory from Santa? Cincinnati, be prepared to get a much needed Christmas present to keep hope alive. Pittsburgh, Santa can only give you the ugly sweater which will be worn before and after the game.
Santa changes course and heads out to Inglewood, California for a very ugly game. Let’s just call this one: “No Battery Left Behind,” as the Chargers host Buffalo. Not the ideal matchup we expected, but Santa can’t deliver a new head coach for Los Angeles. Buffalo will need to wear some red attire to this crazy home disadvantage venue. Buffalo gets the gift of a victory over a less superior Chargers team. No matter how many batteries you give, they’ll run low.

After an overnight stay in Los Angeles, California; Santa Khaos heads down to H-Town and visits the Texans hosting Cleveland. In what’s been a magical first season for DeMeco Ryans and rookie quarterback CJ Stroud, Houston looks to keep their playoff hopes alive and get another big win. Cleveland, well they’ve been naughty but in a good way so to speak. Santa isn’t a medical professional and no expert in fixing the most valuable position on your team. Houston, Santa will leave you a gift of rhyme and reason. Meaning you’ve been a surprise and reason to believe in greater success. Cleveland, the gift left for you is a blank check to write and keep head coach Kevin Stefanski around for a few more seasons. Houston, go get this big win on Christmas Eve!
As Santa boards his sleigh, he makes a pit-stop at Trill Burgers; founded by Houston rap legend Bun-B. Grab and go with a Coke Zero; on to the next stop. While making a quick phone call to his workshop, Santa tells his assistants to send Detroit some kneecaps to bite off as they host Minnesota. Who are the Lions in the final stretch? Naughty, nice and bad within one big bow. Don’t look for this to be a very Merry Christmas in Detroit. But the gift of an ugly win and keeping pace in a very close NFC. Minnesota, your gift will be a blank check to extend Justin Jefferson or draft a quarterback.
Santa heads down to South Beach, where his beloved Dallas Cowboys will take on Miami on equal footing. The weather will be warm in the upper 70s; but sitting out in the heat on your sidelines is going to be a challenge. Can Dak Prescott keep the Boys’ Christmas hopes of securing a top 2 playoff spot? Santa knows Dak has been nice and his play speaks for itself. Miami has been naughty, good, and mid-tier on Santa’s list for 2023. The gift of a big road win is left for Dallas as they keep their footing for the top spot. Miami, the Grinch steals your Christmas in part of incapability to close a game. Santa Khaos heads back to his sleigh and heads north to Kansas City, Missouri for what could be another naughty Christmas day.

Flying into the Midwest and cold makes Santa catch a slight chill or two. Luckily he brought his extra heated coat and gloves. Kansas City has been on the naughty list lately. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ outburst made Santa think twice. This team has been on the not so good list, but there’s reason to believe the season is still alive. Las Vegas will be juiced up for this noon kickoff start and leave the Grinch in Arrowhead Stadium. Chiefs Kingdom, Santa leaves you a blank check to get a number one receiver: rather it’s during the off season or upcoming draft. Las Vegas, Santa approves of interim head coach Antonio Pierce to be the next head coach.
As the NBA games kickoff, Santa sends an email to his close homies in New York, having them drop off a gift of gratitude for Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard. A big win in the Mecca of basketball over the Knicks. Santa boards his sleigh and heads out west to make a stop in Los Angeles, California. Lakers will host the Boston Celtics; the two historical franchises will meet mid-afternoon west coast time. Santa leaves Lakers big man Anthony Davis the gift of motivation to help lead the Lakers over their coastal rival. Boston is going to attempt stealing Christmas, but Santa knows who’ll elect not to show up. A gift of hope and staying atop the Eastern Conference. Santa checks his phone and sees there’s enough time to make a short trip to Santa Clara, California and two for one stop. As the Warriors are on the road to Denver, a gift of team MVP is Steph Curry’s. For all that he’s dealt with, Santa will put a smile on your face. Denver, the gift of consistency is under your tree. Share it with everyone and keep the holiday cheers rolling.
The biggest NFL game of the weekend has Santa juiced up. A flock of Ravens have flown into the Bay Area to play San Francisco. Niners started off nice but got a little naughty and forgot who they were. This could go down to the finish in all honesty. Baltimore is hitting their stride, so are the Niners. Santa looks around and places a gift for the Ravens: securing the number one seed with losses by Miami and Kansas City. San Francisco, the NFC will run through Santa Clara with a loss by Philadelphia. Your gift is wrapped up and ready to open early.
Santa Khaos gathers his bag and prepares to leave California and jet down to Phoenix, Arizona. Along the way, the Miami Heat will host the Philadelphia 76ers. Heat culture is a real gift for any player who steps into the building. In this sense, Miami’s gift of strength in grit holds firm; but Philadelphia will have plenty of gifts to hand out. Joel Embiid outshines Jimmy Butler and leaves with a bag of stats to open. Phoenix hosts the Dallas Mavericks on the final day of games. Santa walks into the building and places a gift under the Suns’ tree. Devin Booker and Kevin Durant will have to slow down Mavs superstar Luka Doncic to avoid leaving their fans with holiday jeers. In the end, Dallas will take the big win and unwrap the excitement in beating one of the Western Conference favorites.
Christmas concludes with Santa Khaos taking off from Phoenix and heading back home to Khaotikland. He will unwind by lighting incense and drinking a room temperature bottle of water. Prop his feet up and reflect on a very long weekend of sports and flying several miles. Spreading holiday cheer to fans and players. Smiling and catching up on highlights from the NFL and NBA.
From all of us here at The Gryd, Merry Christmas! And to all a good night! Sincerely… Santa Khaos.
Stai tuned…
