A quarterback in Kyler Murray with injuries and doesn’t read the playbook and study film. A defensive end who was at wits end in JJ Watt and decided to retire. A former head coach in Kliff Kingsbury who should’ve been fired two years sooner and now a released wide receiver in DeAndre Hopkins who was suspended six games this past season for not following the drug policy of the NFL.
Now we have the release of DeAndre Hopkins so in a nutshell, the Arizona Cardinals are just a big mess. Their only hope is running back James Conner? Wait, did I just type this and actually say it outloud? Yeah it’s bad out in the desert and it doesn’t look too bright as far as the future goes.
Basically what we’re being told is the Cardinals couldn’t find a trade suitor for a wide receiver who is productive when he’s on the field. Got it. Before the draft, it was, “DeAndre Hopkins is on the Cardinals roster.” A few weeks later, now he’s free to go to any team he wants.
I get saving money in the salary cap but you couldn’t get anything for him? It’s a strange situation that doesn’t make sense from the outside looking in. For Hopkins to say the next team he wants to be on, management should be organized and together, it says a lot about what’s going on behind the scenes of this organization.
Now that I think about it, how are you promoting and selling this debacle to season ticket holders? Ehhhh, how much does it matter, most of them are probably retired with a ton of money, nothing to do with it and have homes in Paradise Valley or North Scottsdale. They need something to do on Sundays.
Where will D-Hop land? Kansas City, Buffalo and Dallas look like viable options. At this point, Hopkins wants to win and be on a team with a winning culture. Time will tell where he lands but the Arizona Cardinals are not a promising team to look forward to watching this season.
Thankfully, I just live here and I’m not a fan because it’s going to be a reality TV show more than a football team in a few months…
