“The Un-Philly Special”

“The Un-Philly Special”

What happens when a team whose elite roster and good quarterback
fail to take flight? You’re probably thinking “I don’t watch enough
games to know.” Well, I got news for Philadelphia Eagles fans you’re
not wanting to hear. You see, with success comes higher expectations
and it takes a head coach who must be held accountable. Nick Sirianni
and Jalen Hurts relationship is turned into internal struggles as to who’s man enough to admit their flaws.

This ongoing “feud” dates to 2022, during the Eagles Super Bowl versus Kansas City. A moment caught on camera which Sirianni showed his immaturity with Hurts standing next to him. The moment Hurts gave a subliminal gesture of “bro, stop.” That crucial sideline interaction started a spiral effect. 2023 season, the Eagles were winning close games: with Hurts leading the way. This issue has turned sour and discontent among players.

Hurts’ play speaks for itself; a turnover prone quarterback which is
alarming. No pocket awareness, consistency, and trust with the play
calling. After the blowout loss Sunday in Tampa Bay, tensions are
boiling over with Hurts and Sirianni. “We have our moments,” as Hurts
took the podium for media availability. Now, this Eagles team is
“supposed” to be elite and talented; but Sunday’s performance which Philadelphia had a grand total of ZERO yards at one point; ten yards
midway through the second quarter. I’m not the smartest man in the
world, but sheesh! Any coach would’ve broke tablets, threw water
coolers, even destroy headsets. Philadelphia’s lack of play was obvious on both sides; yet this team has “elite players,” not elite coaching. Offensive coordinator Kellen Moore was set to bring a different dynamic to a potent offense. Well, that was a mirage because as Cowboys fans tried to warn Eagles fans: “You won’t like him after four games.” I’ve been proven right and stand on it.

Defense has been little to be desired; Vic Vangio was supposed to fix
the unit, but old habits have occurred. The relationship with quarterback and head coach is supposed to be top tier. Head and eyes for each other; but Sirianni has avoided hard pressed questions about the team’s struggles, while deflating blame on his franchise quarterback. After listening to Hurts’ comments, and having two weeks to recoup, Philadelphia’s patience is wearing thin with Sirianni.

There’s an old saying: “Don’t go where you’re not welcomed.” Once you’ve overstayed, it’s time to move on. You can lose games, but not your locker room. Judging by the body language from players, the end is near for Nick Sirianni. Jalen Hurts can only keep his mouth zipped for a period and after his comments, the soundbite is out. His body language was cordial but holding on to true feelings. Philadelphia can easily clean house now, but with their bye week everyone needs time to away and settle.

If this continues beyond the season, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if GM Howie Roseman pulls the plug on this coaching staff. We’ve seen coaches fired during the season; regardless of what week it is. Five weeks into the regular season and Philadelphia still has a head coaching problem. However this may go and fixable, Jalen Hurts isn’t
replaceable; Nick Siranni can be replaced.

In the end, Philadelphia’s wings are getting clipped slowly but surely.
No matter how many wins you have, internal issues will sound louder
each week. Players will throw jabs at coaches before each other; it
happens in sports. No amount of success is warranted without
adversity; it’s been fueled with lack of self-awareness and no
accountability. Philly hasn’t won a Super Bowl since 2017 but playing in 2022 feels like a team who can’t get over the missed opportunities.
Coaching matters and Philadelphia doesn’t have it by any means. The
stench of Sirianni’s ego has made players say: “Who’s he supposed to
be? The guy who didn’t play professionally living his dream through us.”

A childlike persona with a jock rock mentality of “Yeah, I’m the man!”
No, you’re not Nick! The undoing of Philadelphia will fly into a brick wall and feathers will splatter all over the surface. When it happens, you can’t say I didn’t tell you ahead of time. As I always say: “Cry Eagles Cry! On the road to misery! L-O-S-E-R-S!
Stai tuned.
