What Will Boston Do Next? | Boston Sports Summit Ep. 18

The Celtics had a miraculous comeback vs the Indiana Pacers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals last night. Jaylen Brown came through in the clutch with a awkward looking shot from the corner to tie the game w/ just under 5 seconds remaining, to force overtime. While this is the first time in that Jaylen came through in a clutch moment; Jayson was a non-factor until overtime where he scored 10 of his 36 points. Tatum is in an interesting spot because he wants to be the next face of the NBA but, when you have games & moments where you are held scoreless for over 9 minutes in the 4th quarter, you cannot be considered the face of the league. One other crazy & upsetting aspect of this game was how Celtics fans left the game w/ 10 seconds left. I understand leaving when you're getting blown out but, there is literally only 10 seconds left, it is Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, & its a 1 possession game. I was guilty of saying the Celtics were gonna lose but I still watched the game. It is an absolutely DEVESTATING for the Pacers, now I am intrigued of how they will bounce back. Are they gonna embrace the defeat or are they gonna bounce back & make this a series.
The Bruins lost in a heartbreaker in Game 6 & lost the series against the Florida Panthers. They have one of the most important off-seasons in team history coming up. They are prepared with a pretty sizable cap room to go out and make acquisitions this team needs in order to win. The Bruins management had a exit press conference earlier today, echoing the sounds of the Red Sox & Patriots within the last 8 months. The Million Dollar Question is, will the Bruins actually follow through on their promises of being aggressive. There are several trade possibilities that they can make in order to shed this current roster & create more cap space. I am definitely be keeping a close watch on that because I have already let my heart get broken by the Sox & Pats for promoting their aggressive off-season behavior when in reality, they were like me during Covid lockdown (grabbed a beer, sat on the couch, turned on netflix, & watched the hours pass by).
I was able to attend the Red Sox v Rays at the Trop last night & I have to admit, this is a fun team to watch. They pulled off a double steal in the 8th that reminded me of some old timey baseball. They got their first series win in the Trop since 2019 & Devers also broke a Red Sox record for homering in 6 consecutive games. Maybe this is a team I can enjoy, even tho the Owner (John Henry) Hates the Red Sox
OTAs have begun in the NFL & the Patriots are off to a interesting start. Cole Strange is dealing with a knee injury & is expected to miss the start of the '24 season. The guy has only been in the league for 2 years & has not really been the productive player anyone of us thought; leading me to wonder what can be said about the '22 draft class? Also Keion White had some eye opening comments about the coaching styles of Belichick vs Mayo & which style he actually prefers.
